H96 pro+ using S912 and come at very reasonable price. The only worry will on the firmware support. Also heard the HD audio pass through got problem or not supported, not sure true or not, anyone got this unit can comment?

Minix Neo U9-H is the highly recommended Android box as it comes with the Amlogic S912 processor which provide excellent support for 4K video formats. However, the price is a little on the high side. A lot of the China brand Android boxes are using exactly the same processor and GPU with even higher RAM (3G) and cost only half of the price, however the main concern is on the Firmware support. The main complaint for the S912 box is the audio support especially for the multi-channel HD audio. Not sure if Minix U9-h got such problem or not.

Strangely, nobody is comparing the Minix Neo U9-H to Himedia A5 which is exactly the same box as the processor, GPU and RAM are all the same. Any reason why Himedia A5 should not be the alternative to Minix U9H instead of Q10 Pro?

A5 worse than Minix U9H or Q10 pro?

Btw, understand that Minix U9H is also not Netflix certified, so can it stream full HD or 4K videos from Netflix?

You might as well just download video files and mount it to a box to watch it instead of streaming with 2mbps.
*
Completely agreed with this, was having 2Mb/s before and streaming is not working well on my android box especially for live TV, except youtube on my smart tv still watchable. Download the videos and watch using external hdd connected to the USB.

You forgot to mention the most important criteria - your budget, if budget is not an issue, definitely Himedia Q10 pro and Minix neo U9-H or even Nvidia Shield will be the best options.

i m sorry ... but can u point me to the model that is within my budget rm300.
there are so many on the market and its really confusing..
*
Well, H96 pro plus is using Amlogic S912, same as that of Minix u9h. However, the main different will be the firmware support. The price different is 2 times between that 2. If you don't have high expectation on the TV box and can't stretch your budget, then H96 pro + will be good enough, 4K videos will not be an issue but there could be limitation on HD audio.

i got the box for less than RM300 from GearBest months ago. Yes, shipped from China. Comes with Android Nougat.

GB is selling the Alfawise version of H96Pro+. Should be the same with the non branded H96Pro+. Can head over to FreakTab to have a read on the reviews there. Quite a big community, and they have their own Kodi fork: FTMC. Got custom firmware as well.
*
How is the performance of your Alfawise H96 Pro+? Video support HDR10? Can play Dolby Vision file? Kodi support? I'm more concern about HD audio support, can passthrough DTS-HD, DTS-HD MA and Dolby True-HD 5.1 channels or not?

Not sure about Lazada warranty. U may check with the seller. If got warranty pretty sure its time consuming since u need to post it back. The bright side is the price. Hehe.
*
Ship from oversea normally is without warranty and this will be clearly stated in Lazada as well. However, if the box is faulty when you received it, you can always return to Lazada for full refund.

sorry because i don't use all that. I only use for normal Kodi streaming. Bought it due to it's RAM, and storage size and speed. I use BT headphones most of the time. Good enough for me. smile.gif

Can help to do some tests or not? Just download some test/demo files (with HDR video and HD audio) from internet and play it via USB port. H96 Pro+ price is really attractive. Not concern about wifi connection as LAN is the best option.

Can someone confirm if Minix u9H support all the Dolby TrueHD 5.1, TrueHD 7.1, Dolby Atmos 7.1, DTS HD Master, DTS-HD, and DTS:X audio format? I know Himedia Q10 pro supporting these. There is no point buying a media player if it doesn't support all the HD audio format. If it doesn't, might as well connect directly to TV USB port and play from there.

For this price, you can get Himedia Q5Pro which have better quality and support.

Is there anything better than Himedia ?
*
Is there any other different between Himedia Q5 Pro and Q10 Pro other than the design and the amount of internal ROM storage? Any features and performance different? The 8GB storage seems really small.

AFAIK, there is better app compatibility on Lollipop than its successors. As in majority of ehem apps are more compatible on Lollipop. So Android 5 > Android 6 > Android 7. in addition, a higher OS version is irrelevant where shitty firmware are concerned. Still depends on the device and manufacturer.
*
In that case the Himedia Q10 Pro running on Lollipop should have better apps support then, but not the case.

After some readings, I have the conclusion that Himedia Q10 Pro will always provide better picture quality over Minix U9H, but U9H will provide better support for apps. So I guess for someone more concern about picture quality over the unsupported apps, as well as availability of USB 3.0 port, Q10 Pro is the way to go. Btw, I think both also don't support Dolby Vision.

PQ, PQ, PQ, I'm yet to hear from someone who plugged em both on identical TVs and fired up the same files for comparison. Even then, it's still bound to be subjective.. So I say, get a really good display with a solid engine first., then talk.. Don't be fooled as not all 4K branded TVs are actually capable of outputting 4K. Don't get me started on HDR either... smile.gif

As per my previous post, the Minix Neo U9-H is second to only the Nvidia Shield TV Box where 4K HDR Kodi plus Dolby Atmos & DTS:X are concerned. It just works. Don't just take my word for it, you can verify this from the official Kodi forum too. Heck, even loading up LibreELEC Kodi on my Minix Neo U1 will give either device a good run for their money (hardware limitations aside cuz the S905 lacks VP9 and HDR10 support). The only reason I haven't upgraded to the Neo U9-H is because I'm yet to jump on the whole 4K HDR10, etc TV & AVR bandwagon. So to pick between the 2 devices, the Minix Neo U9-H lords over the HiMedia Q10 Pro and would be my choice any day. Why? Besides simply being the fastest and most powerful Kodi running device powered by regular Android OS....With such devices, after sales support is crucial.. Without it, you are in for some trouble and the guys at Minix always come through for the community.

Don't think you can rank which is 2nd or 3rd best, I believe both are good and depending on what is the person's requirements. From my own reading, those users who have got both the U9-H and Q10 pro have commented that the PQ of the Q10 pro is better. Yes, this is subjective but you shouldn't question that peoples are fooled by their 4K TV when you don't even own the U9-H or the 4K HDR TV yourself.

I have chosen the Q10 Pro over the U9-H mainly because of the support for USB3.0, internal HDD and ofcoz the Huawei HiSilicon Hi3798C V200 being a good SoC. So far from my own experience without comparing with another TV box, the PQ of Q10 pro is very good. At least I see slight improvement in the PQ when play 4K HDR video from Q10 Pro vs that directly using the TV own player, can't really explain why. No issue with DTSHD-MA, Dolby TrueHD, ATMOS and DTS:X audio output to my AVR.
