IMO, there aren't an "non-smart" decent TVs out there. There just simply aren't.. And if you are considering to buy some no-name brand, that's an even worse off idea. However, all smart TVs aren't created equal. Some are indeed smarter others.. So best is to focus on what a TV should do and do best.. Which is Picture quality. TV speakers aren't great either, so if you like better sounds? you must get a separate sound system to go along with it. story for another thread.  smile.gif  Today, UHD TVs are much cheaper.. so depending on your budget & the TV's location, I'd spring for at least a 55" UHD TV.. Got more budget? Get one with HDR (at least HDR10 support.. Dolby Vision??? eh, not so widely accepted now, so skip) too... Else, a 1080p (minimum) smart TV will do just fine. So yes, look for a truly smart TV.

BUT... Make sure the TV is smart enough to support apps like Netflix & YouTube in it's respective max resolution.
