After you have watched the review, please comment on this feature mentioned in the review, LLDV.

The reviewer commented and showed that the player is able to "upgrade" a SD quality video to make it to be rendered in DV.

Unless it is simply a dynamic conversion from ( the already present ) HDR data to DV .....

But if HDR is already present in the video, then the quality of HDR rendered video and DV rendered video should not be significantly different, then we should not see much difference in the output quality.

Seeking clarification.

From the review video, there are 5 options :-

1. HDR10
2. Highest SDR rec 709
3. Highest SDR rec 2020
4. LLDV only
5. Automatic

Unfortunately, I couldn't follow the video cuz language reasons.. sweat.gif But here's my take on LLDV vs Full DV. The major difference being LLDV is handled by the Source player, whilst Full DV is handled by the TV itself. What this means is that, if the Source player screws up the tone mapping, sending poorer PQ to the TV? Then it's a bad experience la..And I suspect that's exactly what happened in Andrewtst's case below. Poor implementation and thus "pulled". IMO, LLDV done right should be gooding..

List of sources capable of LLDV output for any DV content:
– Sony Players (UBP-X700, UBP-X800/M2, UBP-X1100ES …)
– Apple TV 4K
– Shield Pro
– Xbox One X/S
– Panasonic UB820/UB9000
– Oppo 203/205
– Fire Stick/Fire Cube (Netflix/ATV App)
– Chromecast (Netflix)

List of sources capable of LLDV output for DV, HDR10 and SDR content:
– Oppo203/205
– Apple TV 4K
– Sony UBP-X700, UBP-X800/M2

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Aug 11 2020, 07:01 PM)
SD normally is SDR, if convert to DV, will be very wrong.

Origin Apple TV 4K also did that, everybody complain, so this option is optional now.

I am absolute don't want SDR convert to HDR/Dolby Vision.

If this option is not optional and cannot disable, then this TV Box is not for me. Haha!

Fam, look up HDfury and Vertex2...Requires extra hardware and a bunch of tinkering to get right.. But hey, folks swear by their results.. sweat.gif

To me normatter how they do, great or not. Possibility it is not great.

It was very wrong watching content not using it original setting.

SDR shall output as SDR
HDR shall output as HDR/DV

This two SDR and HDR should capable auto switch correctly.

By the way, I haven't watch the video yet as busy yesterday.

Tonight watch, haha!

Oh I don’t disagree.. Some TVs can handle upscaling SDR to HDR10 quite nicely. But this whole “pseudo-DV” science? I love to tinker, but this is just next level. Better I don’t poison myself unnecessarily.. laugh.gif Tis also one of the reasons why I haven’t upgraded any of my displays yet to DV etc. Hoping them manufacturers will just get their stuff right. Lest, go buy and next year they release the really good stuff.. Cry liao.. sweat.gif

Haha I see. I don't think manufacturer will do convert SDR to HDR because it just wrong even it look nice as you see the film will be over saturation due to convert to Wide Color Gamut where SDR is not.

Now all TV can instant Switch SDR and HDR. I don't see an issue since it correctly switch instantly. smile.gif

If said switch HDR to look like DV then is another story, example LG call it
Dynamic Tone Mapping and Panasonic call it HDR Dynamic Enhanced. Both did it pretty well.

Hi All,
for my home setup using NAS but having problems. I use Zidoo Z9S.
1. Using Kodi, keep hanging when loading posters (with soure added).
2. While playing, video not smooth, i.e. sangkut. Same case when using VLC or Kodi native player.
Same case for wireless and wired connection.

Any recommendation, better apps perhaps?

I tend to think this is not an app or player issue. It is more likely WiFi or router issue. Are the NAS and player connected together via cable or via WiFi ? I suggest you troubleshoot the network first.

if i were u, i would test local network speed 1st. both LAN and wifi.
try transfering files between ur NAS and box. see if the speed is match based on the spec. normally low spec box can support 100mbps for LAN.
last time my old minix box can support up to 60mbps only even tho in spec is 100mbps.

then, check ur video codec. is able to support natively( hardware encode) without software encoding or not.

what format/type of files are you trying to play? Your Zidoo Z9s has got a gigabyte LAN port, it should play most formats comfortably using wired connection.

MKV mostly.

before this on wifi...recently changed using cat5e...+ latest maxis fiber standard router (standing type) to both NAS and Zidoo, still got problem.
I dont think my NAS supprt gigabit. its the not-so-young WD sharecenter

do we need gigabit for 4k playback?

Will try to check codec, or diff apps etc. Not sure how to change the native player for Kodi though.

Would like to use Kodi or native Zidoo software if possible due to poster thingy features.

4K movie, most likely yes you need a Gb port. I was having that issue before but mainly because the previous media box doesn't have a Gb port, so even 1080p mkv will lag terribly. Now i bought another box with Gb port, so NAS (Gb port) to Maxis router to TV box (Gb port), kodi 4k movie is ok already.

Others have given good advice. First is the ensure your home network is healthy, then investigate your devices as well.. I had no issues wirelessly streaming high bit-rate 4K UHD HDR10 files off the Beelink GS-King X. Same thing, using Plex on it and streaming off my PC.. Granted, my network is quite healthy even though I'm only using daisy-chained TP-Link C1200s (ISP supplied...so "free"). All devices that can be wired are done using Cat 6 cables. Kodi is fine and should handle most codecs. See the video below to understand what I'm talking about. Healthy network + solid box + gooding media player apps = nice experience.

I can understand your frustration.. But that's mainly because AOTG has been a tricky app.. Thankfully, it seems to be getting better now and so more devices are "supported".. Used "" cuz launching is one thing and performance is another. With Minix though, you are on the right track d... I reckon aotg should still be working fine on the Neo U9-H and should on the Neo U22-XJ as well.. Get the latter to future-proof.. Here are some online stores you can purchase from...
Minix Neo U9-H on Shopee Malaysia.
Searched for "Minix" on Lazada...Yielded a few results.
Somewaht Minix serioius store...Also Malaysian..
Lastly we have a trusted seller Nicety over at the Garage Sales section.

Check all options above and as always...The decision to purchase from where lies in your hands..

Let me guess... You bought from some dunno seller who filled it with tons of crap apps and or services? if yes, factory reset and only install apps and or services you actually want.. I regularly advise people not to spring for those pre-loaded "options"... Cuz most of these sellers just bundle stuff without knowing much about what they are bundling.. I almost exclusively use Kodi for everything...but hey, you are in luck as I recently uploaded a noob-friendly video on Kodi and some of the best addons for VOD & IPTV on it... Check it out and should it help you (which should brows.gif ).. Kindly smash the like button and subscribe to my channel.. notworthy.gif

My apoloigy if this is not the right place to raise my question.

I want to connect my mobile phone to my Himedia TV box via usb and then use the mobile camera for Zoom. Tried it but I cannot get the image on the screen. Set MTP for USB transfer. What else should I do? Bought a webcam 1080p but the image is very poor, very noisy. Returned it. Thus thinking of this mobile to TV box option. Thanks.
