Haha... is about 1.8k....
My ex media box was minix U1, after a year changed to Nvidia Shield, compare both units....really like VW GTI vs Honda Civic 2.0....
Honestly, I never try U9 before, don't know the U9 performance.

Thanks man...

I actually want something that I can output music from Spotify to a DAC amp and output the music through stereo bookshelf speakers...

The weird part of this setup would be that a screen would be a small screen so not sure if the air mouse would be comfortable to use on a smaller screen or not...

This way can select songs without phone or tablet, I wanted something to look like a desktop style permanent rather than stream from mobile...

Which device would be the best fit for this?
The other use would be to watch english movies on the tv on watch music videos from Youtube... but this would mean that it is in another location....  hmm.gif

So many leave one at the tv area and use another (cheaper?) as the music streamer with small screen?

You can Chromecast Spotify... that would be the easiest...the Google Chromecast box or Xiaomi Mi Box International or Malaysia version will do

You can use your phone as controller & viewer, by mirroring the box to you phone... the Himedia boxes have this HiControl app for it...

You can do likewise with other boxes using Teamviewer remote app but you will need to set up a free account for it...

You can also get a Sonos...

These allows you to stream music without having to connect to a monitor or mouse after setting up...

If you don't want to use phone... then a small monitor and wired / wireless mouse is fine too...any box will do...

The Shield is way way overkill for Spotify...

Sonos is nice but no screen

Once setup then no monitor or mouse how to change music?

Yes, I don't want to use my phone, so small monitor and mouse is most probably the best

That may not have been the best move.. Here's my 2 cents;

The Minix Neo U9-H is a very good buy? Yes.
Will it satisfy you? Yes.
However, based on your (simple looking) requirements, it does not seem like you need such a device just yet. But then, who knows.. Once you have it, your needs might grow and it's a good thing that it'll still handle it. Congrats and enjoy your purchase when it arrives.. rclxms.gif

For music only set up... I find that a tablet is the best as a viewer/controller...I can control anywhere...

A monitor just takes up space, too big for changing music...too small to watch movies comfortably...and less convenient...

Anyway you box is coming... you probably have the monitor already that is why you're considering this set up...can use both methods, don't have to pick only one...

U hv 2 distinct needs... spotify music/dac and watch videos on tv... at 2 diff locations.

2 uses, 2 locations... hard to use single device.

I will not crack my head and deal with inconvenience.... use 2 devices! biggrin.gif

Spotify is a rather simple app, just 2.0 audio. U just need an old tablet or phone with right connections to dac.

The box u bought is a powerful one, a waste just for spotify.

What i do, i use the box mainly for videos on tv, with avr and speakers.

When i want spotify music, i just pick one artiste and let it run with the tv off... until i want to change artiste.

It's still a capable device with Jarvis.. Don't beat yourself up for it. That's how it is in the tech world.. Once produced, it's obsolete. So enjoy.
