So can Tania TX6 can support AOTG from playstore?
*
NO, original factory default it can't support aotg
Yes, but need to do some config to enable it

1. need to configure to unroot the box (unless seller do it for you)
2. side load aotg apk

Like I always tell.. Don't go buying these stuff for "elderly" people.. If anyone has concerns about them using it properly? get them a truly smart TV and or an Astro sub with decoder. They'll thank you for it. This cord cutter's path is NOT for the physically or technologically challenged. People already live dunno how long, least we can do is to not over-complicate the rest of their lives. The easiest YouTube-wise is a Samsung/LG TV with YouTube app.. There's also Netflix.. Also, there are huge (depending on screen size) buttons distinctly showing the FF/RW/Play/Pause/Next/Back, etc buttons on the screen. All these are remote friendly. So directional arrows will work smoothly.  There's nothing to "click & drag". Similarly with the YouTube/Netflix app on ATV OS.. Matter of fact, the entire ATV OS is designed to be directional arrows friendly. It's when one installs an incompatible (regular android OS) app, that the whole click and drag to simulate touchscreen is an issue. Else... It's not...

As for storage.. IIRC.. The Minix Neo U1, with stock fw should give around 8GB free from the 16GB eMMC ROM. Kodi can run up to 1GB and more over time, YouTube (ATV version) and the rest will take up a couple hundred MBs too. If you plan on mostly streaming content using the cache/buffer style system.. The remaining storage won't be an issue. However, should you be doing the download first and complete before or during playback? And it's a file that's larger than the 5-6GB ish storage left? That file won't run. I'm talking p2p stuffs here.

As for price... I honestly can't go hunting around for the best deal for you.. So buy from a reputable source.. where ever that may be.. There are plenty reputable sellers and online platforms out there. Just choose one. Most often than not, there's no warranty on such devices. Especially if you are looking to buy for cheap.. Why? Warranty costs extra..There's stress and real money cost involved in claiming the warranty from the manufacturer in China, USA, etc.. All this seller has to consider before putting up selling price.

Do you mean a powered HD hub with a 2.5" SSD and or powered/non-powered normal ext HDs? Most boxes should be able to handle such.. Just depends on the device itself's USB port has enough power to drive the HD or not.

Thanks for the long detail explanation notworthy.gif
The usage will be me or elderly.

I choose mecool because got voice control for elderly https://youtu.be/67zNni1Fqko?t=480 .But I am not sure whether how well is mecool perfrom on voice control because i didn't own it but on phone they are doing well.
The mouse on remote control is extra pointer but the interface is a must to change if they really not familiar.

Not using for nextfilx but more on youtube , smart tv cannot swipe and more complicated to press every letter and even more complicated for searching.
Youtube = them and for me anything will do.
At most , i think if they really don't know , mecool can do mirror cast like most smart tv.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oefyzApPp6g on their phone.

16gb is enough.
I saw you always post buying from Gearbest.com Do they have warranty ? how long is the shipping ? can give a complete guide buying from gearbest ? tax required ?

Yeh, the 2.5 HD 2TB.Not ssd.I worry it doesnt have enough power for plugging mouse receiver and HD together.

True... Searching using the onscreen keyboard can be a pain. For that, I simply use my mobile device. You can use your mobile device to search and or act as a media control remote for the Youtube/Netflix app on the Smart TV. This is much easier than using the directional buttons to hunt from character to character during a search. So IMO, for YouTube and Netflix? I will always recommend built in Smart TV apps. Anything else, typically special apps, Kodi, etc? Use an Android box. Though it seems you'd rather have the external device do it all. Sure, it can be done.. Ideally focus on ATV OS devices then. Perhaps the Mibox will fare better here?.. Voice search is a good option too as you've pointed out. But I can't remember how exactly the voice function worked on the MeCool M8S Pro L. The device is no longer with me to test out. But from the video link you posted, it seems it can do it. Very important that you stick then to the ATV OS version or a device that has an ATV custom ROM version. I find that voice works better on those than normal Android OS (YMMV).

Gearbest, Aliexpress, Lazada, Shopee, Quube, Amazon, Carousell, Mudah, etc, even our very own Garage Sales section.. I don't have any personal favorites. These are all reputable places to purchase from and I have purchased items from all of them multiple times.. Warranty as I mentioned before depends on seller. Shipping time depends on where you buy. Want faster? Find local seller and COD, etc... There's no complete guide.. Sorry.. Like I said, don't overthink things. Decide on a device, go to a physical shop or online or COD, etc.. Deal and enjoy your device. As long as it's not a lemon unit. You should be fine.

As for USB power.. Device dependent. I've seen devices with 4 usb ports that work well until you plug in a fourth device, then either that last plugged in device or one of the earlier plugged in device suffers. A 2TB (powered or not..Usually it's non-powered la) Ext HD should run fine on most boxes.

No problem with voice function remote on M8S L Pro and on KM3, i used this function frequently. Box is 1.5x year old and working well as daily driver bought from GB as always.

In fact, awaiting to buy a spare Mecool KM9 Pro Classic as spare come Monday for under USD$37. rclxs0.gif

Maxieos.. There you have it. Get a later model like the KM9 Pro.. ATV OS as stock with voice remote... Unless you still want to wait on the Beelink GT1 Mini-2 Android TV Box with new S905X3 SoC. The latter is more expensive though.

Anyone have thoughts on if I should get the Mi Box S or A95X MAX?

Love the idea that Mi Box would support chromecast and (better?) DRM support, though not too sure about the speed, on paper the A95X Max have better hardware.
(Edit) Also not too sure about the support from A95X if I have issues with it.

Ask yourself what you want to use it for first.

If you want to use it to play netflix then you will likely unable to get full hd.

If you want to use it to watch AstroGo it may have not been tested and so your mileage might vary.

Do you need WiFi or 5ghz ? Is the WiFi implementation good ?

So all these are not answered by looking at spec.

What Puchongite says.. HW is great for comparisons and narrowing down one's minimal specs requirements. But after that? Software plays a heavy part. I've seen devices with 4GB RAM, faster SoC, etc perform poorly compared to some 2GB RAM with older SoC devices from solid manufacturers. Though is support is a major concern of yours? You are better of with the MiBox.

No.. There's a point. While USB3.0 is backwards compatible. A USB2.0 port can magically have 3.0 speeds. Similarly, watching 4K content on a 720p display. Sure the image will look sharper but no where near the true 4K quality as would on a proper 4K display.

So no need to get the 1000mbps. Hence might as well go for the 2.0?

Okay message noted. Since the usb on the mi box s is also a 2.0 variant. I dont see the need to get the usb 3.0 unless the speed can be improved.
