Basically by doing some mods on the Android boxes, you can present your boxes as Android TV.

Maybe someone wants to do it for hobby.

Looks interesting and safe? As there are no serious flashings to do. Worst case, I believe one can simply reflash stock image and return to normal. I'd be willing to try it out on my Neo U1 except it's using the older amlogic S905 processor and he's tried that and found it lacking. Guessing rooted + S912 upwards only.

anyone can recommend a good tv box with easy interface and hassle free usage?
price is not a problem but not overly expensive..
read that Himedia or Minix is a good tv box...

hi all sifus, i am using q10pro now, but i feel like missing something in both pic & sound quality... using 1080p tv only and does have atmos system, no netflix and stuffs, just stream movies and hi res songs from NAS, any players rec? Thanks in advance!

Oh I see.. I didn't know that.. Thanks. Though, I don't think the Huawei ban will affect them directly.. Be sad if it does. Cuz last I checked with em, they have been working on getting Android TV OS and Netflix certified.. Possibly why there's a delay in releasing a successor to the Q10 Pro..

TBH, you are already using a good device.. Particularly if your needs are as described. I wouldn't upgrade just yet. Perhaps, with the imprex engine.. What you need is to procure more high bitrate Blu-ray level content..

I have been using hd610 before q10pro for a few years, I feel that q10 pic is less sharp and tend to have more warm color tint, been tinker around the setting but still the same.... sound quality wise no comparison, hd610 can’t play Atmos, but was thinking “ if” the sound is pass through and processed in av amp sounds better, anyway that q10pro pass through the signal?

I don't really watch netflix, mostly HK drama, sports and kids channels...
Hassle free meaning the box wont go obsolete after a few months... and the channels are still able to watch..
usually tv box needs regular updates of apps to continue watching..
i prefer those 1 purchase can watch all.. for a long time...

Hmmm, perhaps its the TV settings that needs to be tinkered with? Normally the Q10 Pro is known for both it's Visual and Audio prowess.. As you say, compared between both, the Q10 Pro trumps in the AV department. However, if you feel that the HD610 does better PQ-wise AND it your AVR supports AV input , process audio by itself and passes the video signals along to the TV? You could try that method. The Q10 Pro does support pass-through audio to AVRs. Matter of fact, the ideal connection should be like that... Player >>> AVR (Handles sound & passes Video signals on) >>>> TV (this just handles the display).

Ah I see... Well the thing is.. As long as such stuff is "ehem".. There's no way to guarantee it'll always be there. You may go the EVPAD route. TBH, I don't sub to such. You are better getting a decent no frills box, then sub to a particular service.. Do a trial run for a month, if good, sub more.. If it dies or service lacking (dunno when)...Just jump to another service. If possible, try to seek a service with its own in-house app and deep integration with Kodi. These guys tend to know what they are doing and won't give up so easily. As they've put in tonnes of work to make it work across devices.

Yes, the reigning King costs about that much... So far, no similar device has dethroned it.
