This post is just to announce it's arrival and get feedback from you folks. What would you like me to try out.. How? etc.. In addition to my usual test runs. I haven't powered it on yet.. Will do that over the weekend.  rclxm9.gif

Note9? Its the user problem not the device brows.gif

Also, for anyone who received their gt-king already, has anyone checked to see if the stock firmware is lying about the amount of RAM? I read that Beelink was selling 3gb RAM gt-ultimates that were actually only 2gb RAM but the stock firmware displayed 3gb RAM. People figured out that it was only 2gb RAM once they installed custom firmware. This has me worried about buying Beelink boxes

I've checked using 5 different app HW checkers including the "Fake Device Test" app. All report it's 4GB RAM. Unfortunately it's too early to know if a custom FW will paint a different picture. In the spirit of embracing openness, Beelink released the GT-King source code SDK and port structure chart. So I'm inclined to agree that with the GT-King, what you see is what you get.

Sorry mate, this initial q&a is a tad outdated. You see, we don't discuss or encourage ehem iptv and similar anymore. Cuz govt crackdown. Are they still out there? sure, but you'll have to do some more work to find them.. But since you are familiar with rooting, perhaps not too much work then..

Late in joining the tv box experience and just got a Mi Box S for my parents not long ago. In summary, pretty laggy and wifi connection is pretty moderate.

But this first box has made me interested in getting 1 for myself, may not be Xiaomi. That's why I'd like the feedback from the community here.

I've friends telling me about EVPAD. And I've had friends who tell me about MiniX.

EVPAD 3 max vs MiniX u9-h - what's the difference? and, which is better?

My primary use will be own movies and apps such as iflix, netflix, also probably in future; Hao / myiptv (I don't really watch much tv tongue.gif)

Welcome... Minix Neo U9-H > EVPAD 3 Max. Evpad's are primarily sold for their "in-house" ehem iptv services.. So if that's your primary concern? You won't go wrong with that. Performance and other features-wise? The Minix will fare better. Since you are interested in playing your own content and not IPTV, it's a fairly obvious choice. Especially when, the Minix also fares well in that department, except you have to hunt down and install your own IPTV app la, cuz Minix always ship as stock Android as possible.. But at least, it won't disappoint as the EVPAD will or MiBox has.. The Neo U9-H is speedy and known as onf of the better boxes with excellent WiFi. No Netflix HD+ on either boxes though.. Max res will be 540p. iflix, Astro go, Unifi TV, etc, all work fine on the Neo U9-H.

The MiBox's strongest feature is being 100% Google & Netflix certified. Also, you might want to invest in a USB to Ethernet adapter and use wired connection instead. Should improve network speeds. Already bought, so might as well max it.

I just found out that Minix owners do have a slight debate with the brand over how they're not focused on upgrading the Android version at the moment - they're at v7.1 only. And from further reading, seems like the brand are focused on their next model release (X39) for now - but doesn't seem to be in the market yet. Guess why I'm concerned about this is that I know U9-H has been in the market awhile and hearing that the brand isn't doing much to support older owners, that makes me lose confidence.

What would an alternative box I should consider instead?

Thanks in advance for sharing your time.

I did and as expected, it doesn't.. OS is regular Android and not Android TV OS either. I'm almost done testing it.. Just want to do some gaming tests and how it fare with a controller. Unfortunately, I've only got the PS3 controller on hand. Cuz the device is rooted, i can use the SixAxis app to pair. The controller is recognised, however both Gameloft games (Modern Combat 5 & Nova Legacy) i tested, aren't receiving input from it. Thinking to purchase a GameSir controller, the G4S and re-test. But unsure if it's something the majority are interested in.

You are correct. Minix isn't known for its future support, unlike say HiMedia or Nvidia. Though in their defense, you need to understand that the devs mostly push out rock solid releases. Focus is on stability vs just upgrading to the next Android version or releasing fw only to open up more bugs. This stability is also the reason why my primary device still remains the Neo U1, even though it hasn't received an official fw update in like forever. Yet, the last release is very stable and everything that should work? works.

It does support up to 4K but there's a method in order achieve this. Lookup freaktab forum
