techxreviews stated that Mecool KM7 is not a certified Android TV Box, don’t get access to full Google Play Store. Is it to say KM7 unable to download and watch the free unifi streaming apps like iQiyi, BBC Player, Lionsgate, unifi PlayTV for Ultimate package subscriber?

KM7 is only not certified by Netflix, it is still a Google TV certified device. And it can install any of the apps thay you mentioned.

Hi bro, are you using Mecool KM7? Have you managed to download unifi’s playTV and iQIYI APP into KM7 and use smoothly? If yes I will proceed to buy KM7 from Shopee/Lazada. I am using Himedia Q10 Pro & X99. I can sideload above 2 apps but PlayTV cannot properly operated eg full list for live TV not appear, etc while for iQIYI, unable to login for standard member, it always hanged at sign in/login/join in page.

My KM7 is at the office. I'll test Unifi TV tomorrow. But I can confirm that Lionsgate and VIU works.

Note that Himedia Q10 Pro is an "Android" TV Box, and this usually does not come with the needed DRM (PlayReady and Widevine) that streaming apps are using nowadays (Unifi TV and Sooka are using Widevine for example)

Which USB C hub are you using on CCwGTV? With Ethernet port as well?
*
No brand one I bought from Sri Computer. Yep, it also has an Ethernet port, but it's only 100Mb/s. Also this no brand one was around RM80ish. D-Link rebranded this and is selling it at around RM250, so yeah, don't buy that one

with tat hub, how you connect the power source to the CCwGTV?
*
The hub has Power Delivery on the first USB-C port. Plug an at least 40w power to that port, and it will provide power to the Chromecast

2x USB Type-C, 1x HDMI out (your PC/Laptop needs to support video out over USB-C for this to work), 1x 100mbps Ethernet, 1x TF/Micro SD slot, 2x USB Type A

Idk what's PQ or AQ  confused.gif , and Netflix is not included.
You may also check about SVI at HERE.

Hi

Any review for feedback for Realme Stick 4K?

My main intention is for Disney+ Hotstar, Youtube and Cast from laptop / smartphone
*
IIRC I've read some users from the US have issues with the stick freezing at some point. Are you specifically looking for the stick's design? the ONN Android TV device seems to be a decent alternative (around RM180), since the market is flooded with it after it was sold on clearance in the US last year.

Looking to get a box, any recommendations?

So far looking around I found Mi Box S, Walmart Onn Box, HK1 Box and this thread seems to suggest Mecool KM2
Seems like the stick type tends to overheat
A lot of sketchy ones like those X96 T6 Pro whatever with crazy specs like 8K which I doubt
A relative of mine has an svicloud thing which is quite expensive
also I found out it runs fake Android 10 lol tongue.gif , Security Patch from February 2019 which Android 10 didn't even exist yet
pairing with a 1080p tv

probably will use youtube mainly, and astro go + its other bundled stuff like disney+ (using grandparents astro subscription)
*
Note you can't run Astro Go on any of these boxes (modifed android box or Android TV box). But you can get the rm20 smart tv multiroom add on, and using an APK install the astro Smart TV APK on an Android TV device (Needs to be Android TV OS, since it relies on widevine DRM).

Gor the device, Mi Box S is reliable, overpriced IMO due to it's age. Mecool KM2 and the Google Chromecast with Google TV are better choices since they are priced similarly, but with newer chipsets.

Right now the Onn 4K is the cheapest 4K supported Android TV OS locally, so that might be a good choice

Hi there

Thanks for your feedback

Not specifically must be stick, reason was because I try to get one at about RM180 and boxed are always around RM300

I saw this ONN box ads too when browsing for Realme 4K stick but I skipped it for the low price and I am not familiar with boxes brands

Is this a reputable brand?

It has Disney+ button on the remote (not sure whether works with Hotstar tho)

Review seems good and only commented the cons is lack of DOlby Atmos which I don't really care

Benchmark also shows performance slightly above Mi Box S

I managed to find RM160 at Shopee and sounds like a good buy

* Darn Walmart is selling for less than USD20 bangwall.gif
*
The Onn should be okay. Usually for me, if the brand is willing to invest in getting license for Android TV, it deserves a look. The license is not really that cheap (since you need to make sure your device supports Widevine DRM Level 1) so they need to make a device that people would actually buy.

Thanks

Guess I will stick to this as the new UPB does not really worth RM480 (RM20 x 24 months)
*
Also you can't sideload apks in the UPB, from what owners are saying

Yes but now many are complaining on Reddit that the remote constantly unpairing itself

Walmart acknoledged the issue but yet to have any fix up to now

So I am reconsidering it as it is gonna be painful if remote not working
*
True. The other cheaper options for me would be the Mecool KD1. I am using one and it has no issues for me at least (I actually bought and tested a bunch of Android TV devices during MCO because I have nothing to do).
The only thing is that it does not have Netflix license, so if you want Netflix this is not for you.

hi there anyone here using XiaoMi TV?
im interested in Xiaomi their Mi TV P1 55" model, the Dolby Vision... haha
but i read in reddit there are cases xiaomi push ads while changing channel, this really suck.
im wondering does this affect global model too?
*
I have the MI TV P1. HDR is so so, It's decent, but won't wow you or anything.
Also I don't know what kind of apps that Xiaomi is using in the USA, but for our local DVB-T2, you won't get any adverts, at least if you are using Google's Live Channels.

is there any random ads?
coz their mobile apps ads notoriously appear everywhere

I don't think Global Model like ours have any extra Xiaomi apps added. It does not even have the Patchwall app that has been pushed to the Mi Box S

So my KM2 been more than 2 years working really well but of late experience like once a week it just hangs resulting in me having to unplug and plug the power. Perhaps time to upgrade.. What's the latest ATV boxes to consider besides Mecool brand?
Found this new box...
MECOOL KM2 Plus supports 4K streaming on Netflix, Youtube TV, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, HBO, etc., and supports 4K AV1 decoding up to @60fps. Besides, KM2 Plus streaming media player comes with the well-known G10 Android TV / Google TV reference design Bluetooth Voice remote control. Voice remote control featuring Google Assistant, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play shortcut keys, plus Android TV navigation buttons including a guide button, home and back buttons, direction keys, and a watchlist button.

If you want something other than Mecool, ONN stuffs (Walmart rebranded boxes) are flooding the market right now, and it seems decent enough. Other than that, the OG Google Chromecast with Google TV, altho the connections are a bit lacking

All Android TV OS comes with the ability to Cast (aka Google Cast / Chromecast). You don't really need to mirror your device, as casting means the device itself is streaming direct from the source (supported by a number of popular apps like Youtube, Netflix, Hotstar). Just look for this logo

If you DO want to mirror your phone for whatever reason, yes, you can still do it. Altho why would you since it would mean you can't use your phone at that time

Mecool KM2 has two USB ports, with one of the being USB 3.0. This might be what you want

The reason i need is to mirror out same video on 2 TV without cable.
*
Cast/mirroring is always 1 to 1. Also your device/android tv/android box is always the receiver, they can't be the caster. The only way you can do what you want is via

HDMI splitter -> TV
-> HDMI wireless -> 2nd TV

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Sep 21 2022, 11:33 PM)
I forgot to mention , the budget for Google Android tv certification is over budget which cost over rm350-400 adding with chromecast will cost overrm500.

I just need a android device which can support mirror screen with sound and cast to another Smart TV to support both TV running same video without needed a cable. There is no wireless HDMI , even got will cost over rm300.
*
I think you are underestimating mirroring. It's not just simply duplicating it's display. It's actively compressing/encoding it on the fly, and to do it as fast as possible to real time means that quality is the least of it's worry. Hence the "mirror"ed image is always low quality, especially when sending over wireless.
And as I said, Android TV/Box devices are not meant to be a sender, only the receiver

What is the limitation ? As I know most stock android version 4 already have this function , driver and etc.Chipset should have it since it's a basic tech on every chipset.
*
Because the idea of an Android Box is to output it to a permanent display, and receive cast. For Android TV OS, the function to mirror itself is simply not included in the OS. For those cheap Android TV box, the developer has hidden the function in lieu of being a miracast receiver.

Technically there is a way, via teamviewer. But honestly mirroring/remote desktop quality is too shitty that I would just rather use a HDMI splitter. And if you feel that wiring a HDMI cable is too ugly, get a HDMI injector and pull an ethernet cable that is much easier to hide instead.
