Hi all,
I have gone through a couple of pages and here's my concern for someone who can assist on giving me some advise. I currently own a NexBox A5 and seems to be pretty 'decent' so far. I plan to use it as a secondary player for my room and get a good player that supports Dolby / Surround Sound as I have newly gone into the home theatre world and spoilt myself with a 5.1 set up.
From the reading I have done here, the best would be HiMedia Q10 Pro or the Minix U9-H (please correct me if I am wrong). I love watching movies and would now like to fully utilise my surround set up. I have used KODI before, but I am not sure if I am using it properly as it is pretty complicated and I find it very tedious and difficult to use. I have since started watching my shows on apps like MovieHD etc which is very convenient.
To get a proper surround, I've started downloading 40-50GB BluRay DTS/Master to maximize my experience. Hence the player I get should be able to support these files and play flawlessly.
I do not have any subscription TV at home and have a NetFlix subscription along with my Android Box. Netflix does not support true surround, so I am hoping for some guidance from you guys.
Hope someone can help and give me some advise. I am leaning towards the Q10 Pro due to the HDD slot availability and plan to download my favourite movies in full bluray and transfer them for keeps on the player.
Hope someone can advise me, and perhaps also tell me if I am utilising the player as I should? A lot of folks seem to be ditching subscriptions and watching live TV on KODI etc, is it easy? Seems very complicated to me despite going through many many posts and youtube videos.
Thanks guys.
UPDATE
-------------------------
I have purchased the Zidoo X10 and am pretty happy with it. Only issue I have is, I have a HDD installed in the player and am trying to figure out a way to transfer directly from my PC to the HDD in player. I've reasd first page recommending samba and ftp but have been trying to figure this out for hrs... both devises are connected via LAN.
Help Me !
Outline steps taken on the Zidoo and your PC. Most often than not, could be firewall/anti-virus issues.

Hello LYN Members,
I am looking to get an android box for my room but I am not sure which one. Before I get attacked, yes I did read from page one. Android box is very new to me and I actually didn't understand lots of stuff. Not familiar with sideloading, apk, etc until I googled. Didn't even know what Kodi is till I googled.
Anyway mainly I want to use the android box for movies, YT and most importantly live sports

Can you please suggest what would be good for me?
My budget: Under 500
Resolution: HD. My tv isn't 4K tv
My internet speed: 30mbps
I did a little reading and was looking at these 4. Do you guys recommend any of them? If not I am open to suggestions

From that list, get the Minix Neo U1... I own one, been using it awhile and our needs are similar. The more important question would be your live sports.. You need to seek out a somewhat reliable source.. Most likely a paid service. I use Kodi for majority of my streaming needs.
Alternatively, if considering the U1, then might as well spring for the Minix U9-H... Latest flagship device.

Minix Neo U9-H is the highly recommended Android box as it comes with the Amlogic S912 processor which provide excellent support for 4K video formats. However, the price is a little on the high side. A lot of the China brand Android boxes are using exactly the same processor and GPU with even higher RAM (3G) and cost only half of the price, however the main concern is on the Firmware support. The main complaint for the S912 box is the audio support especially for the multi-channel HD audio. Not sure if Minix U9-h got such problem or not.
Strangely, nobody is comparing the Minix Neo U9-H to Himedia A5 which is exactly the same box as the processor, GPU and RAM are all the same. Any reason why Himedia A5 should not be the alternative to Minix U9H instead of Q10 Pro?
I believe it's cuz both the Neo U9-H and Q10pro are their flagship devices.
