Hi..and your audio needs? Or just even plain stereo is good enough? Seems, you already know where and how to get the “ehem” stuffs.. That’s good. If you don’t have specific audio or DV/HDR10 visual needs.. Then just settle for a cheaper box should do. Beelink’s GT1 Mini 2 should do just fine.. Check out my review below.. It’s affordable & tiny yet packs a punch..
Yeah... indeed it does.. I’m tempted to just grab a unit and see how it performs..  sweat.gif  laugh.gif

Ya me also. Haha!

As pointed out by fellow poster, they will not likely to get official Netflix certification. The strength of the product remains in local file playback.

No, I don't own one. I watched this review and quite fascinated by it's ability, which is actually inherited from the powerful chipset.

*
I no need Netflix, I already have 3 certified Netflix device - TV, Apple TV 4K and also 4K UHD Blu-ray player.

Just interested with it others features.

Thanks for the Youtube review link, will check it out. smile.gif

After you have watched the review, please comment on this feature mentioned in the review, LLDV.

The reviewer commented and showed that the player is able to "upgrade" a SD quality video to make it to be rendered in DV.

Unless it is simply a dynamic conversion from ( the already present ) HDR data to DV .....

But if HDR is already present in the video, then the quality of HDR rendered video and DV rendered video should not be significantly different, then we should not see much difference in the output quality.

Seeking clarification.
*
SD normally is SDR, if convert to DV, will be very wrong.

Origin Apple TV 4K also did that, everybody complain, so this option is optional now.

I am absolute don't want SDR convert to HDR/Dolby Vision.

If this option is not optional and cannot disable, then this TV Box is not for me. Haha!

Unfortunately, I couldn't follow the video cuz language reasons.. sweat.gif  But here's my take on LLDV vs Full DV. The major difference being LLDV is handled by the Source player, whilst Full DV is handled by the TV itself. What this means is that, if the Source player screws up the tone mapping, sending poorer PQ to the TV? Then it's a bad experience la..And I suspect that's exactly what happened in Andrewtst's case below. Poor implementation and thus "pulled". IMO, LLDV done right should be gooding..

List of sources capable of LLDV output for any DV content:
–  Sony Players (UBP-X700, UBP-X800/M2, UBP-X1100ES …)
– Apple TV 4K
– Shield Pro
– Xbox One X/S
– Panasonic UB820/UB9000
– Oppo 203/205
– Fire Stick/Fire Cube (Netflix/ATV App)
– Chromecast (Netflix)

List of sources capable of LLDV output for DV, HDR10 and SDR content:
– Oppo203/205
– Apple TV 4K
– Sony UBP-X700, UBP-X800/M2
Fam, look up HDfury and Vertex2...Requires extra hardware and a bunch of tinkering to get right.. But hey, folks swear by their results.. sweat.gif
*
To me normatter how they do, great or not. Possibility it is not great.

It was very wrong watching content not using it original setting.

SDR shall output as SDR
HDR shall output as HDR/DV

This two SDR and HDR should capable auto switch correctly.

By the way, I haven't watch the video yet as busy yesterday.

Tonight watch, haha!

Oh I don’t disagree.. Some TVs can handle upscaling SDR to HDR10 quite nicely. But this whole “pseudo-DV” science? I love to tinker, but this is just next level. Better I don’t poison myself unnecessarily..  laugh.gif  Tis also one of the reasons why I haven’t upgraded any of my displays yet to DV etc. Hoping them manufacturers will just get their stuff right. Lest, go buy and next year they release the really good stuff.. Cry liao.. sweat.gif
*
Haha I see. I don't think manufacturer will do convert SDR to HDR because it just wrong even it look nice as you see the film will be over saturation due to convert to Wide Color Gamut where SDR is not.

Now all TV can instant Switch SDR and HDR. I don't see an issue since it correctly switch instantly. smile.gif

If said switch HDR to look like DV then is another story, example LG call it
Dynamic Tone Mapping and Panasonic call it HDR Dynamic Enhanced. Both did it pretty well.

Just got the Nvidia Shield Pro for RM899. Everything so far is much better than my old cheapo android box. I don't have unifi at my new place yet so can't try out true 4K content but even 1080p looks much much better than under my old box.

I think the remote is fantastic too. A triangle may not seem intuitive but it's actually very ergonomic in the hand. Any other remove and you'd feel like putting the remove down once you've pressed the buttons you need. This one actually feels like it's nice in the hands so I find myself holding on to it.

One quick question. I have local content on my USB connected drives that Kodi can read easily enough. I tried Plex and I first have to add the local folder via the webapp, and I also need to have a internet connection to access the local USB files? Am I missing something here?
*
If internal playback, no need internet connection but need to have same wired or wireless connection. But some function in Plex do required internet connection, playback movie wise not required.

Make sure you set up correctly as default Plex intend to do transcode. Transcode is unnecessary for Nvidia Shield Pro and Apple TV 4K. I am using Apple 4KTV and I am sure both is freaking powerful to handle actual quality up to 4K HDR content.

Chromecast with Google TV Short Review.

user posted image

In summary, this Chromecast with Google TV is worth to get, it is very value at RM 280 and smooth for any stream content. I highly suggest no reason to get Mi Box or Mi Stick anymore.
But the storage only 4GB means you cannot install many apps unless you expand your storage using USB-C Hub.

Interface
- It is fancy if you connected to US server via VPN with movies suggestion. Bad is you get suggestion on top instead of apps.
- All suggestion is not for Malaysia as Malaysia is not a support country. Good is you redirected to apps.
- The Interface is in 1080p even you set your screen as 4K and you need to set screen as 4K if you want playback content in 4K. So it is not as sharp as Apple TV 4K interface.

Performance & Support
- It is shockingly good and smooth. Definately no issue for streaming performance.
- Finally the Match Content is working and support Dolby Vision up to 60hz 4K. This is not the case for Mi Box.
- I am shock it is instant switching within HDR and SDR, very fast. Apple TV 4K switching take around 2 to 3 seconds.

Disney+Hostar
- Compare with Apple TV 4K, they is no bugs of blue screen flickering when you go to sub menu.
- Video and Audio quality wise I find it is same good.

Netflix
- It is always Netflix had more features in any platform others than Apple. Apple don't have Top 10 or New Title Suggestion.
- Video and Audio quality wise I find it is also same good.

Apple TV+
- It load faster than my LG TV Smart Apps but it still take sometimes. This part Apple TV 4K is instant.
- Video and Audio quality wise I find it is also same good.

Plex
- It is very powerful and support up to 4K HDR REMUX video but with some condition not in Dolby TrueHD track as this device is not support Lossless track. You can either use Plex add-on for KODI to let it playback as LPCM, off course this lost the Dolby Atmos like Apple TV 4K. Plex official apps is not supported output as LPCM but allow transcode to AAC but the quality is even worst than compatible lossy track. So far I only know Nvidia Shield TV Pro is the only device supported Lossless track.

Astro GO
- Yes, you can side load Astro GO but you need to find the mod version and mouse or air mouse is required for navigation. The mode version video quality is good and smooth.

any TV box currently can support streaming 4k video from NAS? I know Nvidia Shield is possible but any other alternative?
*
Following 3 is recommended
  • Nvidia Shield TV Pro - every format included lossless track - Dolby TrueHD, support Dolby Atmos for Dolby TrueHD.
  • Apple TV 4K - every format but lossless track is output as LPCM, lost of Dolby Atmos for Dolby TrueHD.
  • Chromecast with Google TV - every format but lossless track can only output as LPCM using Plex plug-in for KODI and also lost of Dolby Atmos for Dolby TrueHD. For official Plex apps it need transcode to AAC and sound even worst than compatible lossy track.

Not yet heaven because Apple TV 4K not support Dolby Atmos in Dolby TrueHD.

Also the switching in between SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision take few seconds, not instant like Chromecast with Google TV.

Another thing is Apple TV 4K not support native VPN apps, only DNS for VPN is not sufficient.

All this 3 things Apple fixed it, then just is Heaven. Now is stepping but not in. tongue.gif

I amend my Chromecast with Google TV review as my previous statement is wrong.

Amendment as below.

Get the various iptv from shopee. Netflix only in SD if not mistaken
Welcome to the mecool family! rclxms.gif

Are u getting 4k dolby vision, dolby atmos on Disney+?
Nice  thumbup.gif review on Chromecast Google TV. How's the heat on this box after few hours use, getting 4k content on Disney+ and limitation of space? hmm.gif
*
Heat was ok, not an issue, now MCO, I open it most the time as long I am awake but I at aircon room.
I very rare turn on my Apple TV 4K (2021) already now. Haha!
The usage now is like 95% Chromecast with Google TV, 5% of Apple TV 4K where 5% is when I want to stream local content as Infuse Pro for Apple TV 4K still did much better than Plex for any platform.

Space do is issue as it is only 4 GB available like the rest TV Box that is capacity 8 GB.
So you cannot install too many apps and definitely not very enough for gaming, unless you plan using USB hub to external storage where I not testing yet as I don't have the device.

The interface will reload, this will occurred if you change region to others country as it needs to load based on the region.
Sometimes it also happened I think due to open too many apps and they is no recent apps interface (this is big cons), so I map a key to kill all task if I feel the interface slow down.

For Streaming, it did brilliantly up to 4K HDR / Dolby Vision (in support TV). Most the time instant sharp and clear, I find it did much better than Apple TV 4K especially Netflix where Apple TV 4K need a little time to catch up to be sharp and clear.
Off course open any apps was instant in Apple TV 4K but take a little times in Chromecast with Google TV. (Ignore Amazon Prime Video, this apps is slow in any platform).

For sound wise, support up to Dolby Atmos in DD+, not support Dolby Atmos in Dolby TrueHD as the device not support lossless track, the Dolby Atmos is lost when playback as LPCM.

Here is the total apps I install and space now only left 53 MB. tongue.gif
I had install until 0 MB also no issue and don't have any annoying indication telling you the space is full.

All my apps

Available storage space now

Additional Information for Chromecast with Google TV setting.

Energy Optimisation
I always feel the lips sync a bit out of sync but not in Netflix.
Now I found the culprit as nearly all apps after install is turn on Energy Optimisation by default. But this is not the case for Netflix.

Highly recommended Turn off Energy Optimisation for all the streaming apps.
With this off, they is no more lips sync issue. smile.gif

No issue for Disney+ or Disney+Hotstar in 4K HDR or 4K Dolby Vision.

Certain show is 4K HDR/Dolby Vision in Disney+ but not in Disney+Hotstar is Hotstar distributor issue as Hotstar did not provide it. This had nothing to do with any TV Box as Hotstar is the one to blame.

I was thinking to get myself a Mi Box S, but then my kids love playing Android games. They’ve actually installed tons of games on my TX6, and I feel its kinda laggy now. Should I get myself something better like Nvidia Shield Pro or any other suggestions?

How is the gaming experience on Nvidia Shield Pro? Would my kids be able to play multiplayers? I wouldnt want them to pull hairs fighting over a single remote/gamepad.

And what gamepads are good for Nvidia Shield Pro?

Thanks in advance for your help!
*
If you aim for gaming, Nvidia Shield TV Pro is the better option.

Mi Box S is no longer good for streaming and gaming TV Box anymore.

Hi bro, just gotten the CGwGTV recently.

- First time VPN user (surfshark), the loading time especially for Neflix is very slow, is it normal for all VPN usage?
- Are HBO Max and Disney+ supporting 4k and atmos in CGwGTV? I can't seems to see those in their apps
- In any way we can find out the bitrate for streaming? In my Samsung TV Nexflix app, the info will be showing when clicking the info button on the remote.
*
Surfshark is a not good VPN, it is slow.
Yes but only Disney+ for atmos not the local Disney+ Hotstar. Also local Disney+ Hostar 4K title is very rare.
For HBO Max, supported title is very little. 4K confirmed yes, I can't remember got Atmos or not already, I already unsubscribe.
I afraid nope.

Am using Disney+ (not Hotstar), maybe my apk is no updated? Any apk for the latest Disney+ ?

Atmos required hardware support as well, if you don't have Atmos speaker then you won't get it.
This is same for 4K HDR / Dolby Vision, it is depends on your hardware.

Also not all titles in Atmos & 4K HDR / Dolby Vision but basically all new title is on Atmos & 4K HDR / Dolby Vision.

For VPN, I suggest for NordVPN or ExpressVPN.

I think Apple TV 4K - TV Box is the worst now. It it running the most smoother interface and pretty but when stream it is not the best.

Last time my DiGi Infinite line is only run around 50 to 70 Mbps. So I though it take few seconds to run clear is normal for Netflix, Apple TV+ and etc.
Don't forget the Netflix interface at Apple TV 4K never update like others TV Box also.

Now my Maxis Fiber line is able to run at least 500 Mbps but it still sometimes take few seconds to run all clear in Apple TV 4K.

But following device is running instant clear and sharp for Netflix, Apple TV+ and etc when using Maxis Fiber line and no waiting is required.

- LG C9 OLED TV Apps.
- Samsung AU7000 TV Apps.
- Chromecast for Google TV - TV Box.

Now my Apple TV 4K only use for playback local contents only. Streaming services better use others.

-----------
Now is time check for Nvidia Shield TV Box already. biggrin.gif
