Good you read it.. I purposely chose to remain quiet till it all hits you. See that's the difference between manufacturers like Minix and Beelink.. IMO, it appears Beelink rushed to place this in the market and prolly figured they'll fix things as time goes on. Hence releasing the sdk into the wild, etc.. Eventually, the goal is a more stable firmware where it all works. The hardware and Android OS is definitely more than capable. Minix on the other hand, would rather hold off a release till the get the most basic things working.. Then push out with a stable firmware.. Then subsequent updates to squash bugs and intro features..
Nope, business-wise.. Why would they... It's still being designed purely for touchscreen devices. My guess is that even if they are interested in such tv boxes. Better to target ATV OS instead first.
The Nvidia Shield does it all.. Quit hesitating and pull the trigger. Also it's weird that your soundbar doesn't support DTS HD-MA but supports ATMOS.. Anyways, as told before.. Literally all soundbars are pseudo-surround.. So even if you are playing ATMOS or TrueHD.. It's never the real thing.. So TBH, harping on these surround sound formats being a must isn't really. Get a proper AVR with 7.1 speakers or more setup.. Then, yes...can talk. Else, you use as is with the Nvidia Shield.

Lastly.. You keep typing "Dolby ATMOS in Dolby TrueHD... What's that? Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD are two separate soundtrack formats. Unless you are referring to data merged in such a way to maintain backward compatibility?

I just checked online the price for LG LK9Y is RM2639. I need to be quite "out-of-mind" to be willing to take that amount of money for a sound system.

Yes and it does it not just in Kodi... Though Kodi is my preferred.. Dunno why most are terrified of Kodi.. Kodi IMO, is a masterpiece.. Want your library organized? Done. Manually or automatically? Done.. Skins to display tags, etc? Done.. HD audio pass-through? Done. IPTV? Done.. VOD? Done.. Subs- PGS, SDH, Colored or not, SRT, etc.. Done!.. it goes on and on.. Plex is nice an all to user that just wants it over with.. But for a power user who wants it all? Kodi.. enuf said. 

As for upgrading your sound equipment? Yup.. Best do that.. You already know my stance on this.. So no use flogging the roadkill.. haha

On another note, apparently there's an "EVPAD 3S - Malaysia Edition" and this is being advertised as both SIRIM & MCMC approved.. If that's true...I'm unsure how that came to be.. No more war on boxes and ehem content?

Haha.. So that's what that whole check for logo is all about.. I couldn't read that and just assumed it meant they are approved.. Oh well, if they haven't been on the authorities' radar, this should get the to the top of the list fairly quickly..

I figured and kinda makes sense.. Though, what does this say about the folks up in there.. I don't even work in their approval/enforcement department and even I know what the name EVPAD is synonymous with. 99.99% of anyone who buys an EVPAD device buys it for a singular reason. Which is definitely not their hardware or firmware. So I guess, legally.. The company can cash in on this (as they have) and hint that they are backed by SIRIM & MCMC..

Alternatively, perhaps the government is giving them ropes to hang themselves.. 

I would think they only load basic stuff in the box to obtain the approval then installed the necessary later

Eh pls la....Beta testing is so that samples of your target group, help you the service creator, to stress test etc your systems. In other words, you get testers willing to put in time and effort to make your product better. Normally, beta testers don’t pay a cent, technically, they should be paying testers to report bugs and or workarounds. It’s how it’s always been and how it should. Also, Astro has been billing millions of accounts for decades. I’m sure they already know how to continue billing customers. 
I reckon can test everywhere as long as supported/compatible.
