dsi Jap... all Japanese... if you can read and understand! Go for it...
DSISHOP in DSi Japan X same with DSISHOP in DSi US... (some release are region specialty)

can we play us games in japan console?
Yes and NO
DS game worked fine (COZ no region lock)
DSI game ARE REGION SPECIFIC... see the manual (which mean US play US dSI game... JAP play JAP DSI game)

is it possible to mod japan console to us?
Currently no.
Some said it is a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE....

BTW, there are also korean, Australia, Europe and many other version of DSi available....

Just an additional information,
buying ndsi usually those who interested in the dsiware ONLY.
what makes dsiware more expensive is the slightly larger screen, slightly more powerful processer and the money consuming DSiShop.
If you have GBA before, it is good just to dslite.
if this is your first ninty console, go for NDSi.

Well if you know Ninty enough, you should know that they ALWAYS give you a WOW .
But every first products is CONSIDERED as market surveyor (Ask Marketing or packaging people).
which mean it may have a lots of problems and spaces for improvement.BUT if you interested, go for it.
Expansive for First Experience while later, cheaper for stability.
For example the NDS fat, everyone WOW for it at first too.
And the ugly beast soon evolve to the DSlite we know. A much SLIM and Better Version of DS.

By the ways,
3DS sure is WoW (with 3rd party game producer as backup).
Some insider shown that, based on the Specifications of 3DS.
the Price will be ABOVE 200 bucks!
(NDSi release price is 175 bucks... and The NA ninty guy said its production price of 3DS is HIGHER than NDSi.)
and IWATA said " Piracy will be SURE not a problem then... "

Plus the FREE* internet content of the 3DS.
Hence, if you a Piracy's Fan, Dont Ever Think about the 3DS first.

if you want to play alone and tends to piracy game and guitar heroes.....
NDSlite will be you first choice..

If you support Originality and a more multi function...
NDSi will be your choice
play M4A. Music... having fun with girl (DSi camera.. dont know why SHE love it...)

Statistically, (if you play JAP games too)
1 week will have about 4-6 games released (Dont forget the blood sucker... DSiware... alots of my $$ goes there)
Hence, even thought you it have only 1 year of lifetime DSl or DSi, there is alotz of game.
So far, based on review, only 1500 out of 5000(and ongoing) Game (US + jap) is prefer by gamers.

Some Great and unique game ONLY released in JAP...
example: tales of innocent, tomodachi collection, love plus....
if there is further version of the game in 3ds.. please dont be surprised...

but all "read-able and understand-able" Game will release in US... later...
example:Pokemon series, kingdom heartz, level 5's game....

Well, if you want to send you image to your dsi and view it in DSi camera....
IT IS POSSIBLE and IMPOSSIBLE.
WHY it possible,
if the image must is in the same quality... and u need the "Common Key" of your dsi which required "Hot Plug" technique with proper tools on your dsi... which eventually damage the console... and BYE BYE dsi if you unlucky enough.

Actually, the dsi camera function like your DIGITAL CAMERA, it will embed a code "meta key" (Not sure) which sometime your view the picture taken by the XX brand DC and the description said... blah blah; taken using "XXX brand camera" f-value.... blah.. blah... (Usually found in the detail of the picture).
and the dsi read the "meta key"(self-generated based on the common key).... if dont not contain the readable "meta key"-----> the corrupted icon is shown!!



So it is Immpossible to DIRECTly put in your picture of you like into the dsi (Currently).... :cry

the wallpaper thingy...
they capture the picture using the DSI camera fuction...
the picture will automatically set as wallpaper IF only one....
will change if there is more than 1 picture WITH star STICKER and save on Memory...
check list...
1. Do not un-stick the star icon
2. Do not remove/delete the picture.
3. wallpaper function does not support picture in the SD.
otherwise no wallpaper thingy....

the battery does run out faster when using Homebrew's card (R4 thingy)... but not that fast....
i think that is a recon set.... send it back to the dealer.... FAST... since it is only 3 week old...

honestly telling you....
the both camera is ONLY 0.3megapixel..
it only capture in VGA mode-alike...
so, what do you expect it will be? as sharp as nikon?<-just a joke.
the picture only look great in the dsi including the painting you draw using "Art academy (DSI ware)"...
but not in your computer or your facebook (1.4U facebook button)...

Good thing is that...
it take GOOD picture on words/document (i think is the auto lighting function)

bad thing...
auto tinted blue or green (<-experience it when you taken a picture in dark place.... hate it )
no anti-shake function-> easily blur.... hard to capture good image on moving object

recommend using acekard 2i (AKAIO is a GREAT custom firmware.....)
but make sure you brought dsi with pre-installed dsiware!!<--important
coz the dsiware pre-installed value= ~15 USD

you can get any ori stuff @ LYN or play-asia....

dsixl should have pri-installed dsiware, i think its name in dsi menu is 'photo clock'. if jap version will be some dictionary 'kanji sono mama rubikku jiten' something like this. depend!
