Just got my NDSL, and M3Sakura on R4 is every bit as good.

It has been stated in numerous reviews that the R4 does not support anything more than 2GB. I haven't tested one myself, perhaps a select few?

Try looking for NDSLs at Garage Sales, at least you could negotiate prices it'll be easier to discuss with the immediate owner.

Hmm, 4GB non-SDHC cards should essentially work but most 4GB cards are SDHC compliant. There aren't many 4GB cards which don't carry SDHC compliance at that capacity.

Not much of a difference, except DSTT has SDHC support.

Are you sure? DSTT's price should be an extra RM5 to RM10 of R4's price, which I saw a forumer selling a few days ago.

Funny, probably lack of stock perhaps? Why would it be cheaper for a DSTT which is better than an R4?

Why the rise? It should be cheaper since Nintendo might be releasing their new DS unit in a bit of time.

As much as I hope that it's a rumor, there's no doubting that the new variation might appear soon as the DSL has already lived two years plus since it's introduction in 2006.

I wonder what's going to be new this time. It seems many are just reluctant to move on, including me

The reason is mainly due to a few factors I think.

1. There were many more Playstations compared to Nintendo's counterpart, the Nintendo 64 at that time. Why that? Our industry was the best for it at that time (hint: piracy) with cheap CDs being able to be mass produced so quickly that I could remember when FF8 reached it's release date, and in two days it appeared in game shop shelves. Nintendo's cartridges were hard to duplicate due to expensive hardware, thus not appreciated here.

2. Sony's games targeted mature gamers which was preferred over Nintendo's family oriented games. Unfortunately, Malaysians do not take embarassment very well, do we? Back when I was very young I could swear that playing Puzzle Bobble over one of the coolest series Twisted Metal could have you being smirked at.

The PSP is definitely there with it's great screen, range of games and multi-usage (MP3s, videos, surfing), but I just got too bored with the usual setup. I wanted something different this time, but the PSP hardly changed from it's bland configuration of directionals, four thumb buttons and two shoulder buttons which most consoles already have. It was just a few months ago that I got my NDSL, and I'm still happy with it.

That's a different reason altogether. Tekken is an exclusive game for Sony consoles, and Pokemon is the same in turn for Nintendo.

Don't get me wrong though, my friend recently loaned me his PSP for a few days, and I managed to try a few popular games, namely Crisis Core, Patapon, the Burnout series and the Monster Hunter series. There are a few good concepts there as well, and the graphics just kicks the DS off the ledge.

About the build quality, by overall it's fine but the compartment where the battery is kept should be seriously amended. I like my handheld consoles grippy and solid without any creaking sounds or 'loose' areas, and the engineers of Sony just had to put a shaky cover at the right hand side. That, seriously put me off.

The DS will never be a platform for fighting games. Doesn't anyone notice how hard it is to get the NDSL to register directions 1, 3, 9 and 7 properly?

I used to have one back then. It was abused so much till I had to fix my ON/OFF switch with superglue. It broke due to those 4-in-1 games, which you had to switch it on and off just to switch to the other game. Finally during a Streets of Rage 3 session the adapter finally gave out and sizzled.

The best games were the SOR and Sonic series, many happy memories

If you have a flashcart, you can surf the Internet without buying the browser with alternatives such as DSOrganise or Bunjalloo. You don't see much images due to hardware limitations without the memory expansion pack, but it still works nevertheless.

It would be advisable to get a reputable flash cart such as the DSTT, CycloDS and Acekard series to name a few.

You don't have to associate flashcarts with piracy. Flashcarts gives the DS the ability to play MP3s, videos and most importantly, homebrew.

My touchscreen's a little yellow too, and I have a white unit. So far I'm not so sure of what the cause is.

That's what a few speculated too, judging from the last price cut. Others mentioned that Nintendo might have been sourcing their parts from different companies, leading to uneven QCs. When enquired, Nintendo answered that the screens had an extra layer of protection and when seen, the light refracts, thus the yellow tint. I'm really not sure how refraction can cause a change of colour

In what sense that you mean it's 'crappy'?

Never heard of this problem before on the DS, but this was an issue with the old Palm Tungsten and Treo models, where the digitizer which handles the touchscreen function was the culprit. Replacing the digitizer usually fixes the problem.

Since you just got your DSL, you might as well ask for a new replacement.
