Thanks for the quick reply. Any good 3rd Party chargers to recommend cause clearly the one I am using is .....
*
Umm...... that one I don't know because I bought the official set that comes with ori charger. And the charger for my phat DS is a brandless one (still working nonetheless).

On the side note my DS games collection now stands at 21 (not including 7 GBA games), 3 games haven't finished yet. sad.gif

Just go to the DSi Shop Channel and download the DSiware games you want. Be sure to have your credit card ready.

I'm going to buy a nintendo DS for my nephew tomorrow. I need to clarify something from pros here as the seller might say anything to persuade me and i don't wanna get cheated and I am useless at game consoles.

1. I've done some study about DSi and DSlite. It shows that DSi has screen size 3.25 inch while DSlite's is 3 inch. ...does it make a lot difference that would make u choose DSi over DSlite?
2. I saw threads in Garage Sale selling nintendo DS console. Some mentioned about additional stuff but more expensive (eg SD card). Will the console function without the SD card? please enlighten me what does it use for in a console exactly?
3. Does the console come with some games inside?
sorry for noob questions, but really need some guidance here.
*
1. Although the screen size is larger for DSi, the number of pixels on the screen remains the same. It's up to you if you want to pay a higher price for a larger screen + 2 VGA camera + downloadable DSiWare games (which can be saved in the internal memory) + music and picture viewer.

2. Both DS Lite and DSi does not need SD card to function. And DS Lite does not support SD cards natively without other 3rd party devices.

3. No built in games at all. DS Lite supports DS games (in cartridge form) and Game Boy Advance games (via its second GBA slot).
DSi supports DS games, DSi exclusive games (very few), and DSiware games which can be downloaded via its online shop channel (some apps are free like Flipnote Studio), however it does not have slot-2 so it can't play GBA games as well as some DS games that utilize slot-2 for extra accessories (like the guitar grip from Guitar Hero).

Why do people open a new thread instead of using the main thread (http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/420011) to ask such questions? doh.gif

I'll let this thread open for 24 hours before merging it to the main thread.

If the first thing you see when turning on the new DS (for the first time) isn't the language selection screen, the DS has been tampered with before.

how about in lowyat?
any sells ori US version NDS?
*
Why would you need a US DS when there's official Malaysian units right now? Only for DS and DS Lite though.

As for DSi/ DSi XL most shops carries the US versions.

okay good good.... thanks for the advice... any sellers to recon???

You can try searching in the Garage Sales (Games) section. You can buy a new set from any shops (use the "shop" tag) or a second hand set.

If you have any further questions please post in the main Nintendo DS thread posted below.

You don't really need to worry about region locks since there's isn't many DSi exclusive games (and almost none worth mentioning). But for the downloadable DSiware games it depends on your device region.

If you see how bright and vibrant the screen on DS Lite/ DSi, I don't think you can stand looking at the dim DS phat screen.

Anyway for general questions regarding DS, please post it in the main DS thread. As usual I'll leave this thread open until end of today before merging it with the main thread.

Please use the main DS thread for general DS related questions. You can continue using this thread, but I'll merge this thread with the main thread after 11:15pm today.

And please be reminded that piracy discussions are strictly prohibited in this forum. And if you play ori you don't need to worry about something like: "your GF being angry with you in Love Plus + coz you're too cheapskate to buy her game" hahaha. xD

I bought a ndsi XL from US, when i back here. Attach the pin converter to the charger, but my nds doesn't charge up. Do i need a voltage converter or something? Or the US charger doesn't work in msia?
*
I'm surprised that your charger didn't blow up. US charger rating is for 110v while Malaysia uses 240v. You have to use a stepdown converter or a 3rd party charger.

hi all

just found out that the my local shops only sells NDSL with R4
will this void the warranty? if i dun wan r4, i can only buy NDS XL which is 8xx-9xx compare to NDSL which is only 5xx sweat.gif

by the way, what is the price for ori NDSL now?
from my previous thread, i learn that NDSL cannot surf net unless i use browse cart (or smth like that). how much is that cart?

also what is the main diff between NDSL and NDSI other than
1) NDSI can surf net
2) NDSI got camera + mic

the shop keeper only tell me this 2 reason :s

thanks biggrin.gif
*
DS Lite (and the regular DS before it) can only surf websites if you buy the browser cart (which already discontinued). DSi and DSi XL can browse the web with its built-in browser (free).

As for the prices, just refer to the US retail price. It usually around the same or slightly higher.

DS Lite ~RM400
DSi ~RM470
DSi XL ~RM540

Well if you're using PayPal, you can always raise a dispute and reverse the payment if anything goes wrong.

my NDSL got ant's nest inside. and now the NDSL wont turn on. before this can turn on but after long time will automatically shut down. can suggest me what should i check?
*
Err.... how long you left your DS before the ants made a home in there? =.=||

Might be possible that some parts got short-circuited. You'll have to try opening it up and clean the mess inside.

hi. i own a NDS (the 1st gen i think, the bulky one)

i play pokemon SS, and tried to use the wifi-global thingy. the thing is, DS does not detect my wifi. right now im using WPA key. do i need to change to WPA2 or WEP? but if change to WEP, then my ipod cannot use wifi.
*
The DS only support WEP encryption.
