The question you posted comes with very subjective answers. It really depends on individual taste/preferences. There are many signature titles for DS.

However, I can recommend a few popular titles:

1) WarioWare Touched!;
2) Mario Kart DS;
3) Phoenix Wright;
4) Elite Beat Agents;
5) Super Mario Bros DS;
6) Castlevania: Potrait of Ruin;

These are only my choices, and it doesn't represent everyone here.

If you are still uncertain, perhaps you can refer to 1st post of this thread. And see which title that owns by people most.

there's New Super Mario Bros, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Lunar Knights

but overall you seriously can't go wrong with Mario series as your starting games. You might wanna check out Pokemon DS also

I would suggest stiring wide off from Pokemon DS unless you are a strong fan of it. or you have never played pokemon before

i recently played brothers in arms for the DS. finished it in 5 hours. Really good quick-paced action game, especially when u want something to play for a while juz to get some gaming action. perfect game for a 15-minute gaming break. The graphics look awesome on the DS and the touch screen controls are flawless. Highly recommended.

Wow that's cool man. Too bad Metroid spoiled us all. Thumbs probably too numb/clawed or carpal-tunneled to play already

cause I have similar problems but only with sci-fi games where surrounding areas are usually grey "space ship" like. it also doesn't help if im stuck at a place and keep running around.

but I dont have any problems playing multiplayer fps games
