i have a friend that has AIA policy. his agent told him that cannot add the medbooster rider on the existing policy as a upgrade. can only get a new policy with that new rider. is it true?

As long as your friend Policy is currently subscribed to A Plus Med or A-Life Med Regular. He's entitled to add on the A Plus MedBooster rider into the existing plan.

Hi guys, currently have a insurance with investment link with PRUBSN. Paying rm260/month (should be rm200/month but have loading rm60 due to BMI). Here's the breakdown:-

Life--100k
CI- 20k
R&B 200
Annual limit 66K
Life time 660k

Thinking of getting additional stand alone medical card for back up with tight budget. Came across with MEDICA 2015 by Zurich. Breakdown as below:

Annual limit 100k
Life time Unlimited
R&B 250
Around RM90/month
Guaranteed Renewal Up to 80 yo

Should i go with MEDICA 2015 or have any other best option?

Thank you.

I would suggest you to stick to 1 card that gives an overall comprehensive coverage instead of 2 different card because the difference you have to pay first and file back a claim.

For example, you can get RM1,100,000 annual limit card that covers both of your current card for the price of 1 medical card.

I think is better you look for upgrading within PRUBSN.

Encourage you to look for roystevenung for Pru related portfolios.

If the policy is under the group insurance then no.

However if the policy is bought as a life insurance and is paid by your company then yes the money is yours since it's register under ur name if you choose to surrender the policy.

I subscribed to HLA's 'MedGlobal IV Plus MGIVP 150' medical card plan.

This is purely a medical card, with no investment portion.
I am paying RM780/annum (inclusive of GST), so that works out to RM65/month.

Having a look at the plan, is there a similar plans out there, offering better bang for my buck?

I also agreed that to combined together to one card rather than separate to two cards, unless you have previous medical history, where there will be exclusion if upgrade or buy new card, or else better use one card with high coverage. How is your BMI now?

Yes, there is definitely have a better and higher coverage on annual limit and lifetime limit. However, the premium will be higher compares to the card currently you hold. As people said, insurance always is you get what you pay for.. most important is depends on what you concern on and what is your budget.

Exactly where I am coming from, so here's looking for similar medical cards, with better benefits, but more or less of the same premium price I am currently paying. Is there any?

Yes, our great Eastern do have standalone medical card where the annual limit is RM990,000 with lifetime no limit, coverage until age 99. If you look for lower coverage but higher than your current one, we do have too. Also lifetime no limit. May I know your age, gender and occupation?

What does 'accidental' PA means? Only to cover for accidents-related injuries?

Yes, personal accident is mainly covered for injury or permanent loss of body parts caused by accidents. If hospitalization due to illness, it will be not covered.

Personal accident covers a few area of benefits such as
1. Loss of limb due to accident which TPD would not payout in your regular life insurance policy
2. Death due to accident
3. Medical reimbursement for treatment due to accidents
4. Other payouts such as dengue fever

And yes as the name of the policy depicts, it's mostly related to accident
