QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Feb 19 2017, 12:08 AM) My 2nd review of iPhone 7 Plus after 3 months 20 days of usage. I disagree with you on the fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner is working perfectly.
What I Dislike

Fingerprint - The worst fingerprint I ever use! Slightly dirt or wet will make it totally not functioning. Even though it recognition is very fast but this cannot handle when dirt or wet make it the worst fingerprint in mobile on earth! If your thumb has dirt on it, the scanner tries to match it with the image you supplied during setup, it doesn't match, so it is rejecting the access. In this instance you are blaming the iPhone thumb scanner is not working. I say the security is very good. Same for wet fingers. You know that water can change the view of an object, causing the image to be distorted. This image will be slightly different from the original the iPhone has and thus, it will not allow access. The thumb scanner is setup as a security access to the iPhone. |

QUOTE(ace-user @ Feb 19 2017, 06:50 PM) At this point in time I personally feel that fingerprint sensor on a phone is merely for convenience purpose and not security purpose as it honestly doesn't add much security function to a phone because it can still use passcode to unlock anyways. With that said, the FP sensor on the 7+ is terrible and even a bit wet (just a bit) it would render the FP sensor useless cuz the sensor becomes moist. I tried same finger with iPhone 6 oso work better. The FP sensor on 7 plus is honestly one of the worst I've used on a phone, not convenient at all. QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Feb 19 2017, 07:15 PM) Yup, but some members here said not that good recognition is security purpose... really speechless... Just for discussion purposes.Totally agree with you. Fingerprint is more on convenient than security. Without that fingerprint, it still can unlocked by security code. Actually anything can online, nothing is fully secure anymore. Want fully secure use back non smartphone or specific design phone for full secured. I don't think the sensor is for convenience purposes. Why want to spend the money there, when they can just put a blank button there? No matter how you press, it will unlock the screen for you. This is convenience. Due to a dirty thumb, you cannot get it to unlock the screen, this is not convenient at all. Because of security reason, you have to produce the exact image to unlock the screen. Security got many levels. This is only one of it. The other is the 6 digits pin. I have seen one company changed the 6 digits pin to 8 digits pin and every month has to change pin. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Feb 19 2017, 08:36 PM) My company also need to change password every month la, and the password must combine with alphanumeric and symbol. I consider this very good security.Re-used password is not allowed. For me this is design flaw, not the reason strengthen the security. It had nothing to do with it. Fingerprint scan is also for security since banks are using it to verify your identity. |

QUOTE(ace-user @ Feb 19 2017, 09:35 PM) U have some good points but still I feel that touch id is more for convenient purpose rather than security. This is my point of view. For me, if it's really for security purpose it would be able to detect ur fingerprint no matter it's dry or wet. I don't understand the technical part of how a fingerprint is being registered or how distorted it gets if the finger is wet. But I compare my 7+ to an old iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 recognize my sweaty fingers more accurate than my 7 plus. The 6 might not recognize it as fast but at least it's much much more accurate than my 7+. For convenience, why want to scan the thumb/finger? Why not disabled the scanner? It is more convenient to press the home button with anything, pen or pencil. To me, it is for security because like pin, you set your pin when you set up the phone. When you want to access the phone, you must key in the correct pin that matches the one you initially set. Same for fingerprint scan. When you set to use the fingerprint scan, you have to scan your finger/thumb. When you want to access the phone, you have to scan your finger/thumb. If it matches the one that you initially scanned, you are allowed to access. Now, if your finger is dirty, lets say got ink on your finger, when you scan, the phone is trying to match it but fails to do so because there is a dot now but the original one got no dot. Since it is not the same, the phone denied access. Maybe when you set up the fingerprint feature, you scanned all your 10 fingers, now the phone has to try and match all the prints in the database. At this instance, you might say that the phone fingerprint scanner is not working, but in fact it is trying to find the correct match in the database. Now, the iPhone 7 home button is different from iPhone 6. Maybe because of the difference, both models behave differently. |

QUOTE(BacktoBasics @ Feb 27 2017, 01:51 PM) Hey guys just an off topic question regarding my usage of iPhone 7+ . If I were to block a caller let's say from the address book. And this caller calls me up. Will he or she receive any notification on me blocking all the calls, messages and etc?? Please advise QUOTE(winkiedilwy @ Mar 2 2017, 12:58 AM) nope. when call it will directly go to voicemail or just say your caller is not answering On the topic of blocked caller, messages i dont think will show "Delivered" if using imessage. other than that no notification at all. If I blocked a number and delete it from the phone. Does it mean that the caller will be permanently blocked from contacting my number? Later if I don't want my number and it goes to a new user. Will the caller number be be still blocked from contacting the new user? |

QUOTE(BacktoBasics @ Mar 2 2017, 08:15 AM) I think the answer will be no and it depends on the phone actually. The phone blocks the caller id on your behalf but it is not completely as I mentioned in my reply as per above. And nothing to do with the telco carrier such as digi maxis and celcom. I see. That means it is blocked on that particular phone itself.Unless you tell me that new user is using your old unformated phone aka direct hand mi downs lol then yes it will be blocked |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Mar 2 2017, 09:56 AM) Blocked numbers is restricted to your own number in your phone only. You had to reset the blocked numbers again if you switched to another different type of phone. You will only see a call message on all blocked numbers and a redirect to voice mail at times if caller stay longer waiting for your response. Your phone will not ring on all blocked numbers What happen if I blocked many numbers and delete them from my phone? Can I still able reset the blocked numbers? Will they get blocked forever from my number? |

QUOTE(jumpstat @ Mar 2 2017, 10:21 AM) If the numbers is in your Call Blocking list, then they are blocked until such time you remove them. Are the blocked numbers tie to my number or to my phone? After I blocked those numbers, I deleted them from my phone. Does it means that once I deleted them, those numbers are considered unblocked to my number? |

QUOTE(OKLY @ Mar 2 2017, 10:43 AM) The blocking is done by the phone. The caller don't hear a voicemail immediately. On an iPhone, when you block a caller, the caller will hear like a 1 second ringing tone then only the voicemail as the phone will decline the call automatically. QUOTE(jumpstat @ Mar 2 2017, 10:40 AM) to your phone bro. Sorry, I am still confused. Its still in your Call blocking list. Remove it from the list then only able to reach you. If I blocked a number. I did not unblock it and I removed it from my phone. Can I still get calls from that number? Edited to add this. QUOTE(winkiedilwy @ Mar 2 2017, 11:00 AM) Nope. The number will only be blocked in your current phone. Thank you for your reply. For iPhones, if you blocked a contact and delete the contact, the number itself will remain blocked. you can still unblock it. But when you put your SIM in other phone, it will not be blocked. I get it now. This post has been edited by cucubud: Mar 2 2017, 11:03 AM |
