not really. If in brand new condition and again there is defects on the product, it means that it is a lemon set.
There is no reason for a customer to accept it.
If me, I will certainly demand for a brand new replacement.
A lot of merchant set a lot of terms and conditions by their own such as no return or no refund etc. It does not mean that in law whatever they say it just simply count. Consumers need to be aware of self rights in order not to be "bullied" unfairly.
I purchased a USB-c multi adapter from a Apple authorised dealer in lion city before. The adapter USB port was having prob which it does not recognise my USB device if the device is 100% plug in. But if 75% in then sometime it detected sometimes it did not. So I went back to the shop the next day to demand a replacement. Again the staff insisted that any problem I need to bring down to Apple service center. I told them that this is brand new item and it is less than 1 day of purchase already had problem. And I told them if I can go to Apple service centre and they can do it too. Why would I do it? They were reluctant to change for me. But I was very firmed and eventually they got no choice but to change one for me. I tested the new one was working before leaving the shop.
After that, I never buy anything from Apple authorised dealer which I would rather buy from Apple online instead since it comes with free shipping anyway and within 14 days no matter what item even a cable I can also get replacement. Even dead pixel or light bleeding etc one can also request for replacement.
I knew that a lot would want to get credit card 0% interest installment etc so they buy from the shop. Too bad bolehland Apple Store does not have it.
But lion city Apple online no issue. Even education pricing can get credit card 0% interest installment.
Perhaps if the buyer makes a big fuss, they will do something about it. They are resellers after all, for them priority is on profit, customer service comes next.
