How much does the 12 inch wheel cost? Its 30 cm wheel, right?

Hi, I wanna to double check with you. Sorry if I am doubting you.

Is the wheel you last posted really 30cm (12inch)? Because it looks alot like 21cm(8.3inch)
My playroom wheel is 27cm (10.6inch) looks much more bigger than yours. My hamster Lily is about 9 months old.

And normally petshop selling wheel 21cm cost around RM50-60. and 30cm cost around RM90-120. So I am really surprised.

This wheel is too heavy. I regret buying this. But great for playroom. I will get the 29cm wooden wheel from shopee soon. While expensive but great for their teeth.hopefully it will last as long as I hope.

I recently just found out that I could do better.
Chatted with the store that sell wooden hamster wheel.
Asking the person for more qty than what the store has.
As i need to upgrade 6, I told them wood or plastic is not an issue as long as its above 10inch.
Then This person actually taught me how to DIY very very easy and cheaply.
Bought the wheel bearing and a basin, make a hole in the middle.
And its done.

I would like to share my version of hamster wheel that cost me only RM20 for a 10inch /25cm wheel.

Wheel Bearing - RM15
10 inch Round Basin - RM5.

Note: I am told, the wheel bearing can support any size round basin, try to get the thick type. soft type will wobble/shaky too much.

The round basin, any place can get, just try to find those are firm. if you can bend the round basin slightly then it is not firm enough.

10 cm to 14 cm wheel is only good for roborovski.
14 to 21 cm is good for winter white n Campbell.
21 to 30 cm is good for Syrian hamster. 21 cm is great when the Syrian is still small size.

Sometimes is better to go big rather than small. But this motto is not good for roborovski. Because they tend to run faster, too big, they flip out.

Campbell n winter white will love slightly wider wheel since they love to sleep on the wheel as well. Do make sure, the wheel is light weight if it's bigger than 17cm.

Glad the babies survives and healthy.

This is why it is highly recommended by all roborovski hamster owners to always remove wheel when they are due to give birth or as soon as you realize there is a baby in the bedding or wheel. Roborovski really really loved their wheel and sand bath.

I find this only happen to roborovski, I never encounter on campbell, winter white or syrian breeds.

Well, I urge you to consider what are you aiming for such as Is it based on interest or profit?

There are costs of caring to consider - (Not a complete list)

--- During this stage, are you going to treat them as pets or just animals
----- What type of breed you want to sell.
----- What is your hamster bonded pair quantity limit.
----- What are you gonna do if the pups cannot be sold.
----- What are you going to give them -->
---------- Wheels ?
---------- Time - Taming their behavior ?
---------- Food quality ?
---------- Bedding quality ?
---------- Hamster cage ? (which type and size)

or atleast 70x40x40cm (450 sq inches) for syrian hamster to be humane environment**

**2017 version by hamsterhideout**
For all hamster species, the minimum is 450 square inches (70x40x40cm) and recommended is 650 square inches (90x45x40cm)**

Additional Storage ( Hamster cage) needed when
--- Fighting occurs.
--- Pregnant hamster needed separation from the male.
--- Bonded pair need separation.

Things will happen or u need to monitor
--- Bonded pair might not have pups.
--- Monitor their pups age and behavior.
--- Any defects from the parents will carry forward to the pups, therefore the bonded pair can no longer breed.
Separation is needed. Then what are you going do with bonded pair and pups.


*** Most breeders that wants profit only will put all bonded pair is a inhumane conditions
- Small bar cages / Small storage box that is about size of LWH 20x15x20
- Large storage bin with many pairs (males/females) together
- No Wheel
- Food low quality
- Bedding low quality
- No taming process

Sigh, u are too late, I bought 6 from them, and when I want more, they already sold another 6 to another customer. And supplier no more stock.😅

Oh and when new stock comes in, it's gonna be slightly higher due to exchange rate. So sad.😫

Lack of info. Need to know which species n gender including what type of food u r giving.?
