Hi everyone, may I know the purpose of CVV behind the Credit Card?

For security purpose? But how?

Tell me ur CC no and CVV number then u know.

For research purpose..im gonna need ur card number, CVV and expiry date..

I think you only need CC no, as I tried it before, I simply key in CVV also can pass? The bank will send OTP to phone, but then once I enter OTP correctly, payment still can be make online. (Note: I simply key in wrong CVV)

Yes, I tried many times already...Just put in CVV as 123, 234 as what I tried before...I'm not sure if all bank like this. Maybe you can test it and share with us

My research didn't allow for 12 digit card no. only

how many digits u want?

If u key in CVV then there's no need for PAC/TAC code already.

I have a thought that CVV nowadays is obsolete. Last 20 years it is vital as a security precaution that you must have a card physically with you when doing online transaction, therefore CVV was required. Last time your full 16 digits credit card number was not encrypted/masked on your purchase receipts. You can spend your time at petrol station dustbins and gather a lot of credit card numbers and use it to do internet purchase. Many credit card gateway providers didn't require CVV during that time and online fraud was rampant. It was so bad that Malaysia was among the list of highest-risk fraud country.

Now with the emergence of OTP, it provides an extra layer of protection. It doesn't matter if you have a physical access to the card. Without valid OTP your transaction will be rejected.

I think this one depends on the merchant and banks themselves? For eg: TM Online website, even if I key in the correct CVV, it will still go to the next page for me to key in the OTP.
