Jibby East Restaurant at KL East Gallery Sime Darby, Taman Melawati proves to be another proud venture of Serai Group after their success in opening Jibby & Co Cafe at Empire Shopping Gallery two years back, as well as Jibby Chow Chinese Restaurant at Courtyard Mall Subang last year.



Located next to highway, the route to Genting Highlands, you can easily miss out Jibby East if not paying close attention to this stand-alone building amidst the lush greenery. We went on the wrong way and managed to reach only after making long U-turn. Else we would be ended up in Pahang hahaha. Ample of opened parking space in KL East Gallery, hence you do not have to risk your car from getting tolled away for parking by the roadside while you dine in the restaurant.



Large, cheerful looking rainforest mural welcomes diners at the entrance, followed by a long hallway in dark colour floorings, and disabled ramp next to it – A thoughtful facility that deserves a credit.





A long high table that can accommodate over 20 pax stretches out at the center of Jibby East dining area, adorned with a row of round glass balls pendant lightings hanging from ceiling. Comfy sofa in classic brown and turquoise blue near to windows, complete with normal white dining tables and wooden armchairs. For those who want to take photographs, these are the better seats as more natural light flows in during daytime.

Jibby East menu covers harmonious variety of Pan Asian and Western cuisine. Order from all-day-breakfast platter to sharing tapas, healthy salads, main course, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, local favourites with modern twist, desserts and cakes. Price is on the high side. A brunch for two can easily over RM100.



Jibby East Platter RM32

Fragrant ginger rice, deep fried chicken thigh, sambal Tiger prawns, acar nenas and Thai fried eggs in Jibby East Platter, nothing special but glad that everything on the plate is good. Rice portion is small, Summerkid had to finish half of Summergirl’s pancake and a glass of Watermelon Lychee before started to feel full.





We love the deep fried chicken thigh, looks dry but not. Crispy outside, locked with juiciness within, deeply marinated hence flavourful in every bite. Sambal Tiger prawns are alright, no surprise as it is pretty similar to the sambal prawns which Summerkid’s mum churns out from her kitchen. Probably we should say, taste of home?



Fluffy RM26



Buttermilk pancake that is fluffy as its name, topped with crispy banana fritters, Nutella sauce at the bottom and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Further sprinkled with crushed nuts. The menu mentioned “fresh strawberries” but eh..where’s our strawberries? Only realized when looking back at Jibby East menu when writing this blog post. Maybe they had replaced with edible flowers. Nevermind, quite colourful in overall though, photography-worthy.

Other food selection you can look for in Jibby East including Dukkah Baked Eggs RM30 (chicken sausage, turkey churizo, chickepeas, dukkah spiced roasted tomato, capsicum Napoli, warm Turkish bread), Mexican Seafood Grill RM38 (Butterfish, Tiger prawns, calamari skewers marinated with lime, served with vegetables), 300gram Australia Grass Fed Rib Eye Steak RM85 (rib eye steak with Parisian mash, charred Mexican style corn cob, roasted bone marrow and shallot jus), Parmesan Crusted Panko Chicken RM35, Roasted Duck with Watermelon Salad RM29, Tiger Prawn Salted Egg Yolk on Brioche RM30, Butterilk Chicken on Brioche RM29, Spaghetti Goreng RM28 (pasta with blue swimmer crabmeat, Tiger prawns, eggs, bean sprouts, pickled chilli, vegetable) , Beef Rib Eye Noodle Soup RM28 and Marrakesh Pulled Lambshank Pizza RM35, just to name a few.


Lychee Mint, a refreshing concoction of ice blended lycheee, watermelon, lime juice and mint leaves came in just right to quench the thirst after finishing the whole plate of Jibby East Platter. Other Mocktails on their beverage list includes Coconut Aloha, Ice Crushed Lemonade, Strawberry Mojo, Passionade and Floating Bundaberg Root Beer with Vanilla Ice Cream.



Latte RM12

Milkshakes, frost & soda, slow pressed juice, chocolate,  teas, coffee, cold brew complete the list. The cafe offers also Single Origin – Costa Rica Tarrazu, La Pastora Washed, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Kochere Yirgz Washed, Finca Lobos Washed, Indonesia West Jave, Tobing Estate Wet Hulled and Guatemala Suchitan brewed in V60 or Chemex.



Over review: Be patient as waiting time can be long. We waited for more than 30 minutes for our pancake to arrive, while there were only 2 tables occupied during our visit. Service was friendly. Staff was polite and informed us that we need to wait long for the pancake to reach. So, OK lah. For food, you won’t go wrong with their Asian dishes, especially Jibby East Platter, seeing that they have reputable Serai Restaurant as the backbone. Not going to comment too much for other choices, since we tried out only two. Total spending was RM99 for 2 mains and 2 drinks.
