Malaysia 10-year MGS yields fall to record low

KUALA LUMPUR (July 22): The 10-year Malaysian Government Securities (MGS) yields have fallen to a record low of 2.63%, after the nation registered in June 2020 its highest net foreign inflow in six years since May 2014.

Bank Negara Malaysia said on its website that trading yields for the 10-year MGS maturing in August 2029, fell one basis point to close at 2.63% yesterday (July 21).

“Diversification is the only free lunch”

Although I assume your question require a straight answer, the question you pose requires a fair amount of thought.

Optimal here can be define in many ways.

Is your optimal means low volatility gain, or maximum gain, etc etc

Depending on your definition, the composition of the fund can be quite different. Low vol means higher FI. Max gain, means higher equity.
*
Is my combination diversify enough in your opinion ? looking at 60/70 low-medium volatility, 30/40 equity

KAF
Nomura i funds
AMANAHRAYA SYARIAH TRUST FUND
Principal Greater China Equity Fund
Manulife Investment U.S. Equity Fund
TA Global Technology Fund
Affin Hwang Select Asia (Ex Japan) Opportunity Fund (added as pointed out by sifu)

btw, can't be having too many funds in ones portfolio right ?
frankly, even the above combination of 7 funds seem quite a lot rclxub.gif

thankyou sifu

I had 10+ funds. I still do, but less.

This portfolio looks ok. Maybe more on china and global tech.not a fan of US - focussed fund at the moment, due to covid n election.

Why not affin hwang select bond fund? Asia-focussed
*
Wow 10+ funds, wonder how's their performance, overall green profile due to diversify enough to cover back the red?

I invested with fsm many years already so All funds green ya. But got a few funds dont perform better than FD.

This year i rebalanced my account from 85% equity : 15% fixed income / bond to 50:50 due to market outlook and pandemic.
*
will keep rebalancing in mind ...
looking back, is rebalancing helpful, or holding on for a longer time horizon (5/10years) will eventually catch up with the loss

during that time,...your initial planned assets ratio may be skewed away from your comfort zone

example: you planned to have a 50/50 EQ/FI ratio initially due to your comfort zone....
your this 50/50 ratio may be in jeopardy due to 1 side increased too much than the other during this 5/10 yrs...
*
meaning rebalancing is better than holding on to initial plan right, at least from your experience

Base on the selected fund,

AMANAHRAYA SYARIAH TRUST FUND for bond
Principal Greater China Equity Fund for greater china
TA Global Technology Fund for US tech

This 3 is ok combination. Having said that, with the exception of the bond fund. The other 2 might be too high to enter now.

Personally, I would also add on Amchina A-shares. This is also worth considering.

The bond should be good for your 60/70 low-medium volatility

TAGTF, greater china n Amchina for 30/40 equity portion.
*
1:3 ratio for bond:equities is good enough from your experience ?
which other equity replacement is worth looking at since TAGTF & Greater China is higher now.

will read more Amchina-A, tq

no... dont think like this. there are some great funds not inside the recommended list. FSM favors a longer term annualized performance. But some of the best performing funds today are quite new.
sreit is good for the same reason reits is good in hk. land is scarce there.

if your time horizon is long enough, u can start building positions now. but how long before the bets will pay off, this one only god can tell.

how to track or look into some great funds that's not inside recommended list, any indicator to look at i.e. from the factsheet / product highlight

different kind mentality.

i am a trend follower. once the trend slows down, i reduce position and move into others or just keep as cash.

dont follow my target allocations if u type that accumulates with dca or vca.

i start by sorting them by performance, 1 year, 6m, 3m, 1m

i compare them relative to the funds within the same sector or region

i elimate the others.

then i select those with the best sharpe ratio

keep in mind, this is just for me. coz i prioritize short to medium time frame fund performance with least amount of volatility. Hence the criteria above.

Cash account is like your trading platform trust account.
Indicative rate is very low at about 1.1% pa only

https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/fsmone/fun...22-Cash-Account

It's not same as RHB CMF 2 which is a MMF fund.
