Hi sifu-sifus, I am super noob to FSM. just wondering is anyone has any thoughts on the kapchai fund now? Is it a good time to buy in now?
Seems like it is at the peak now. Any chance of an upside now?

QUOTE(T231H @ Mar 14 2017, 12:29 PM) how many % of your investment money are you going to dump into this kap chai? i would say "yes" it is a good time to buy...just allocate the % that is comfortable to you in relation to the portfolio.... just don't take my word for it....if you believes in valuation...contact FS CIS to ask them about the current valuation of this small cap segment.... on your questions on "Any chance of an upside now?" how many % do you want that upside to be and when do you want to see results? hmm... I am looking at probably 10% of my portfolio. Looking to see the results next year?

Hello sifu2,
Just want to get to know a little more on IRR here. What's the general rule of thumb?
Am I suppose to keep the IRR low? If my IRR is 15.98%, what is the implication?

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Apr 6 2017, 03:52 PM) got go first page read about irr calculation first? do you know what irr stand for? "Internal rate of return" from the third word already know higher percentage means better return lah! still don't get it? come i feed you http://www.investopedia.com/terms/i/irr.aspGreat. Here comes the second part of my question, I am also reading that IRR helps calculate profitability. Does that mean that when as I update my calculations as time goes on, and the IRR drops, it is an indication that I should be moving off the fund to another?

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Apr 27 2017, 09:28 PM) Simple. Lousy fund manager. That's why. The nearest I can think of is most reits are having XD date. When XD come, price of the reits will drop. But the weird thing is Manulife is not dropping  Hmm. Very strange indeed. Titan dropped like crazy too.

QUOTE(skynode @ Jul 9 2017, 11:45 AM) This just struck my mind. I wonder what age groups are the current FSM investors in this forum? Can we create a poll like this? A. 21-30yo (the Gen Z) B. 31-40yo (the Gen Y) C. 41-50yo D. 51-60yo If you are a 11-20yo millennial and already saving up and investing, Kudos to you. It's just interesting to know what age groups do the people like Xuzen, Ramjade and Avangelice belong to. So that you can compare this to yourself at your current age and get a grasp at whether you are ahead or behind your peers. Much like comparing the performance of a UTF to another of the same market segment. What do you all think? I'm from Group A too. I took some money from my PTPTN to invest in PM small cap fund 6 years back. Made about 57%. I think I would have doubled that with KGF. sigh. Learned my lesson. So, now I am here.

QUOTE(ivzh @ Jul 10 2017, 12:32 PM) ya i m aware of that too, since i had paid the service charge for 5.5% initially, and the agent is my very close relative.. and I manage to turn lose to profit this years after I actively manage the fund since end of 2016(was negative 5% , currently around positive 3%) not a bad yield too.. so i will keep it 1st, but I dont think i will further invest in PM anymore If you're actively managing it yourself, won't that beat the purpose of paying the agent?

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Jul 10 2017, 05:41 PM) both these funds are heavily dependent on currency conversion rate. if myr goes up the funds go down. Anyways selling is T+4 i think https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/faq/0...ling-Funds-8278Does the currency affect RHB EMF as well?

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Jul 18 2017, 09:16 PM) No. Ponzi 2 woke up because of USD strength. Sweet time of low USD is over. USD start to gain power again. With ponzi 1 30% amount in malaysia, it mirrors KGF and Eastspring. All 3 stagnant. Is the USD really gaining strength? I've been reading the USD going down for the past week or so.

QUOTE(MUM @ Jul 19 2017, 04:54 PM) just a note... if Esther Bond for e.g. seems to be slow and steady and doesn't really go up a lot during a downturn. So its not really suitable for this scenario that it shoots up to prop-up your portfolio during a downturn..... Libra Anista is even slower than AFSBF Does it mean AH SBF is a more suitable fund for this scenario?

QUOTE(puchongite @ Jul 26 2017, 06:54 PM) I think the exits are not big enough to cause any permanent damage. The interpac funds climbed back up 1.55% and 1.25% respectively today. The fund size is continuously growing every day anyway.
