Total newbie in unit trust, but have a friend who dumped a bunch of money into UT many years ago and it did pretty well for him. He's buying Affin Hwang Select Asia Pacific (ex Japan) REITs and Infrastructure Fund

I skimmed through the thread, and it seems the people here recommend this fund?
Manulife Investment Asia-Pacific REIT Fund

Must I buy it through fundsupermart? Or can I buy it through maybank2u? They're charging only 3% sales charge it seems, compared to fundsupermart's 1.75% sales charge + Annual Management Charge (idk what is this) 1.75%, and it's a lot more convenient since I don't need to sign up/submit any documents, just a few clicks on my maybank2u account

But what about Annual Management Charge 1.75% that fundsupermart charges?

Does Maybank charge that too, just that they don't mention it on their m2u unit trust page?

sales charges....which you can see and feel... are charged by the seller/intermediaries....
the annual charges and many other charges ..... are charged by the fund houses....these charges are pro rated charged and incurred in the daily NAVs calculation....which you does not see or feel....the published NAV prices are net of these 'unseen" charges

Ok. Opened my fsm account, waiting for activation.

I'll just dump RM10k into Manulife Investment Asia-Pacific REIT and forget about it until 5-10 years later.

What is the procedure like when you want to cash out? Click some buttons on your fsm account to offer selling off your units, and wait for someone else to buy them?

I don't think I understand.

When I click View Holding, this is what I see. Is it still processing my purchase?

Because when I click sell just to see what it's like, I get "You have no unit trust under the holdings of this investment account."
It says "There are no purchases using this investment account. " when I click transaction history too

yup...actually up almost 1%
day changed -0.0104, income distribution +0.0147, hence net = 0.0147-0.0104 =0.0043 = +0.95%

How do you calculate things like that? I can't wrap my head around it.

Is now a buyer's market?

I'm eyeing this:
https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/fundi...d-MYR-MYCIMB007

Looks like the NAV is the lowest in recent months. Very tempting

hmm.gif how many % of your UT portfolio consisted of KGF?
do you have only 1 or 2 funds?
if you have many,...it is not possible to have all to be good all the times.
if you are not comfortable with KGF,...try go for  non constrained funds where by the FM are not constrained to allocate a fixed % of the fund in a certain area/country.
I think 1 example is ....Affin Hwang Absolute Return Fund III
http://affinhwangam.com/list-of-funds/mixe...eturn-fund-iii/
but just that how comfortable are you with your money in the FM's hands?.... biggrin.gif but many still believe the FM's expertise are better than him/her self

if you believe FSM and are comfortable to not use the invested money for the next few years....
try use the Star Rating to help you guide the % of allocation into the country or regions....

just for relative comparison,.....currently i have 13.5% of KGF in my port and yes, YTD KFG is -7.2%, thus part of my current port losses is due to the -1% contributed by KGF

Holy shit. I'd rather just dump my money into AS1M or even CIMB fixed deposit if it's actually that bad.

Guaranteed 4~6% returns babeh

Is unit trust really the way we should go for investing? These people seem to think we're idiots for not just buying ETF (I think ETF = stocks/shares?)

Put in RM5k into CIMB-PRINCIPAL GREATER CHINA EQUITY FUND some 4-5 months ago. Now it's worth RM4,542.29 (-9.15%)

Should I just pull out? Or top up $?

What's the most successful fund you have?

I just joined fsm about a year ago, have 3 funds, and Manulife Investment Asia-Pacific REIT Fund is the best so far. Drop in 5k and it grew by 330. Meanwhile the other two went down RM50~100

I'm kinda tempted to put all my eggs in manulife REIT

I sometimes wonder if UT is really worth it. Currently I'm better off parking the money in my FD
