How to found out which fund best to invest? So many around...any indicator like how we analysis stock using EPS ROI and etc?

When it comes to investment, it is more important to have the proper mindset rather than the external factor of choosing which fund that’s more likely to perform above average.
When we invest in unit trust, the main function is to leave the stock-picking process to the professional fund managers.
Since they are paid for doing exactly that full time, we do expect that they are going to give their best. Those are not within our control.
thus leave the individual stock analysis to them....

FI funds are for portfolio stabiliser (ASNB FP fund can also do that)
FI funds can be purchased at almost amount one wanted and at almost anytime one wanted (ASNB FP funds cannot)
FI funds can be utilised to switch between FI & EQ funds or vice versa in time of market volatility or markets opportunities without lost of Sales charges and shorter transaction time. (If doing these switches between EQ funds and ASNB FP funds or vice versa, will incur SC on EQ funds)

with FI one can learn abit about the emotional aspect of investing, experience the market euphoria, the glory of gains and the despairs of losses ....with ASNB FP funds.......you will learn......

while waiting for value added responses...
my uneducated guess is...
number of units X NAV x 1%

ASNB is fixed price. So regardless of market movement the NAV stays the same.

yes.

let say you buy in 1.00.

but before 1 year end the NAV jump 1.05.

Last time you buy in 1000x1.00 = 1000 MYR

Now you sell is 1000x.105= 1050 MYR

1050x 1.0%= 10.5

1050-10.5= 1039.5 MYR is what you got.

FSM Fund Choice: CIMB-Principal China Direct Opportunities Fund [August 2018]

TAKEAWAY

As China, the second largest economy in the world, gradually opens up to foreign capital, it is clear to us that foreign investors can no longer ignore it. An active fundamental approach is well-suited to navigating China’s A-share market thus potentially offer compelling investment solutions. We believe the China’s A-share market could provide benefits to an investor’s portfolio, form a return and diversification perspective, even if risks and challenges remain. And with its inclusion in the MSCI Index in May 2018, now might be a good time to take a closer look at the opportunities the China A-share market offers to investors.

With that, investors that wish to have exposure to China’s A-share market, particularly the small to mid-cap space, they can do so by investing in the CIMB-Principal China Direct Opportunities Fund which provide the exposure to small and medium companies which may have potential to be global players. We advocate interest investors to include this fund in the supplementary part of their portfolios, with a maximum allocation of not more than 10% of their overall portfolio.

Been really busy so didn't have much time to mess around with the excel, but manage to squeeze sometime to try adding a few new stuff: connecting to stock ticker updates (via Yahoo for now, so literally worldwide stocks) to fetch last-done price. The only challenge for stock trading is calculating the transaction service charge - for now I just do manual formula to calculate the % since stock trading is more tricky and too lazy to build in logics. There's a few other pricing sources which I tried to explore, most are using table format and it's too troublesome to fetch value (i.e. Public Mutual, HLA, etc.).
Attached Image

Also, differentiated between Portfolio Overall IRR (active+inactive funds) vs. Current IRR (only active funds). Still working on JSON Currency Updater
Attached Image

My target is to release it when FSMOne Malaysia is released (before end of year) laugh.gif
