Thank you very much for the reply. I have learned from some article that for the first few years, the money invested paid up a large amount for insurance rather than investment but after some years, it will focus mainly on getting return right? I am in for about 4 years now, showing an uptrend for quite some time. Not bad return but I do not like the monthly insurance charges after getting clear on my investing plan.

Entered 9k, currently near 13k. In 4 years, I think around 10% Annual Return.

Hold or Let GO buy KGF?

Hi all sifus, i am new to unit trust, seeking for advice.
get some concepts from investment book that for new investor in unit trust, when you don't know to select which UT, you can choose global equity fund or global bond fund because in long term, global economic is uptrend.
so i look into FSM recommended fund for global UT, but Eastspring Investments Global Leaders MY Fund is going to liquidate, then i look into ABERDEEN ISLAMIC WORLD EQUITY FUND - CLASS A, but this fund was underperforming the benchmark, so i am quite confuse if should invest this or not?
*
You do know that global equity is made up of 50% US right?
You can do your own world equity fund by
Buying one US focused fund
Buying one Asia/Pacific ex Japan fund
Buying one Europe based fund
Optional throw in a Japan fund

Taadaa. Your very own world equity fund

Manulife reit is focus in SG. Even better, if you have a SG brokerage, you can buy 3 types of reit etf.

Reits fund underperform very much.

And for dividen fund, whats the diff between normal eq fund?

I sometime don't find dividen fund stable or appealing also...
*
Apparently you still have much to learn.

QUOTE(pisces88 @ Jun 6 2018, 08:54 PM)
Difference? One is dividend oriented,  the other more to capital appreciation? I had a quick look, affin dividend +5% for past 6 months, ponzi 2.0 is 3%+ for the same period.

Dividene funds does have its advantages.. Hehe
*
Precisely. Most likely they invest in companies which pay good or increasing dividend.

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Jun 6 2018, 08:57 PM)
Isnt dividend for UT is just calculated back into the NAV? so got what different between capital appreciation ?
*
Dividend in unit trust is useless but for a fund which invest in dividends stocks are good as companies must have real cash to payout dividends (they can borrow to pay dividends but that's for fund manager to filter). Got different. The fund manager can invest in companies which are super stingy or are able to return some profit to shareholders.

For me I prefer the company return some cash to me rather than hoard everything. Of course if the boss in charge is warren buffet, it's a different thing.

Each fund have different uses. Dividend funds perform better in a down environment as mentioned: companies must have real cash to pay dividends.

Im not 100% sure, but i think u misunderstood the 'dividend fund'.. dividend fund invests in equities which give out consistent and high dividend. this is how they gain profit..

on the other hand, eq funds invest in equities which has potential upside, not necessary need to have dividend as criteria. The fund's profit is mainly from capital appreciation.

Dividend fund and giving out dividends to holders are 2 different things  biggrin.gif
simple illustration = reit fund invest in reits, equity funds invest in equity, dividend fund invest in dividend stocks
Correct me if wrong  laugh.gif
*
Correction equity can mean dividend oriented companies. Equities is basically another fancy name for stocks. So is entirely up to the fund manager to decide which path he/she/they chooses. They can choose dividend paying companies (with track record of increasing dividends yearly), or they can go for those companies which hoard all cash to themselves or mixture.

its a yes for me on long term.
still remember one article being shared here? bond vs eq?
I got it again on papers last month's, wanted to share it here because it's a clear table. but that's haven't take into account of compounding interest since our bond fund here is drop in term of NAV if they declare divvy. too bad I lost the newspaper.

it's def outperform fsm recommend FI.

you can go to see their monthly factsheet. since inception still outperform by benchmark.
*
Agreed. Compounding + fixed price fund makes it a winner.

Weird la u. If things goes down forever just to keep u "excited", no one will make any money out of this. Better keep if FD then..

Nope. If it drop it provide opportunity to accumulate. Do you need the money now? Nope.

Do you wish to buy when it's bloody expensive? Price drop with no change in fundamental in of the fund provide good opportunities to accumulate.

I don't give recommendations. But I give advise. Best bang for buck with consistent return. Not many quality PRSs out there. Most PRS out there are like shit.

i bought Affin Hwang PRS Moderate Fund last year Nov...all the while its +1-2% even market almost all down but last few days its start dropping. Now is about -0.7%. Should I continue top up or look for others PRS?
*
It all come down to why you buy it in the first place. Are you satisfied with the return? Are you able to tolerate the downside?

A good fund must rise more than it drop.

For me before I buy PRS, it must fulfilled few criterias
1) return must be able to beat EPF and amanah saham rates consistently since both of them are considered low risk investment. No point I buy PRS if it's only giving me FD or EPF returns.
2) a volatility that I can stomach.

With Rm3k relief, you can get RM720 rebate from 3k. Now tell me how much is RM720 ROI from 3k?

QUOTE(voyage23 @ Jun 28 2018, 12:48 PM)
This response is so  doh.gif  doh.gif  Maybe your income level is not there yet.

Tax relief is the main attraction of this scheme, without it, it's nothing. Because it locks the money down till retirement age.
*
For me even I don't get that amount of tax I still buy PRS. Why? The RM3k I contribute into PRS is still mine vs giving tax to govt. I don't mind money being lock up.
