I have been pondering around the topic for some time.
Thinking of spending not more than 6k for the pre wedding photos.
Hence decided to do it locally, either in langkawi or Cameron Highlands

Problem is, I am really at lost in choosing a good photographer.
I would be grateful if anyone can define what exactly is meant by a 'good wedding boutique'

Do correct me if I am wrong, but here are some of the criteria which I think the service should be:

- good photography skills
- award winning
- good editing skills
- clearly stating how many photos that will be selected and edited without surcharge
- photo book, presentation
- no extra cost upon getting back soft copies
- getting the final product within short time (2 months?)
- good selections of gowns, no hidden charges for so called vip/premium gowns
- transport, accommodation are included in the package, which involves the photographer, make up artist and so on.

Feel free to add on or correct me if I am wrong ☺️

Why don't you drop by the wedding fair and check things out (24th - 26th Feb 2017 @ Mid Valley)

thanks for that, already planning to pay a visit biggrin.gif

my idea is to research on the participating boutique first, and to make a standing on one and ask them for better packages during the event

Remember to check if the gowns you borrow got extra laundry fee or not.

Most of them have good marketing strategy awaits you right after you pay your deposit and done the shooting.

For eg, they promise you to give 30 fully enhanced photos for your pre-wedding and you need to choose them out of 200+ photos. It's near to impossible that you and your wife can pick 30 out of 200+ of your own photos! So, they will come with new editing package. If you want 60 edited photos, pay extra X and if you want 80 edited photos, pay extra Y.

Most of them don't provide transport. You will be the driver to drive them around. Location will be picked by you as they provide a list to you during the discussion day.

And it's very unlikely to get back all the softcopies without charge, unless stated in the package. biggrin.gif

You may need to ask which photographer going to take your photos too. Some studio have their own chief photographers and normal photographer.

Award winning photos usually taken by chief photographer. So, better be sure of it. biggrin.gif

TBH, you can get a very good deal of pre wedding photos and album with 6k budget already. Head down to the fair and check. But be sure don't sign or give deposit until you and your spouse have decided which is the best.

I once walked into My Dream Wedding, from 1k deposit to 800, to 500 and before I left, they offer rm300 as deposit. It's the same no matter when and which studio you go. They will go as low as possible to get u pay the deposit.

Be wise and happy hunting!

Best to visit the bridal house instead of the fair. The fair you won't get to see the gowns. Plus those salesperson are very competitive so you'll be pulled to their booth to listen to their packages until you also rclxub.gif

Came across these questions

1. how long should the actual Prewedding photo shooting duration be? 5 hours and 8 hours any major differences?

2. Is it advisable to get own gowns? If yes any recommended places? I got quoted a package where there will be 4k difference for 2 gowns vs 5 gowns
