1. There's no need for dual BIOS, certain boards like ASUS have a BIOS recovery mode (Crashfree BIOS 3) that allows you to reflash a BIOS when the main BIOS is corrupted icon_idea.gif

2. Zen 3 will work on B450/B550/X470/X570 boards, all you need is a BIOS update from the motherboard manufacturer (most major ones will provide this in the future) icon_idea.gif
B550 allows you to utilize PCIe Gen4, and often comes with higher quality VRMs for higher TDP CPUs icon_idea.gif

3. Again, that depend on the budget.  If your application utilizes multiple threads (like video encoding or rendering) then it makes sense to go for a 3700X, otherwise the 3600 will work just fine too.  You can even upgrade it to a faster chip if the board VRMs allow you to do so icon_idea.gif

4. IIMN, Kingston KVR 3200s have a CAS latency of 22, which is quite loose, so I'd probably would recommend going with a slightly slower but tighter timed RAM kits, like 3000CL16 (ideally for the best bang per buck, you should go for 3200CL16) icon_idea.gif

See RAM speed scaling of Ryzen 3000 CPUs here:
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-zen-...enchmark/2.html

5. I can't test it as my GPU usage is 100% whenever it is decoding 8K video sweat.gif

6. I'm using a Hyper 212 EVO, which is carried over from my old build tongue.gif

Thanks , extra question

8K video with VP9  will depends on decoder.
its hard to say and the software decoder is not really optimize as much as gpu accelerated decoder, GPU always win in decoding speed, but if the video was not encoded according to the spec, gpu decoder will not work and performance will suffer.
google does not want to pay the royalties to MPEG LA, hence they're pushing their own format, aka VP9 and the up coming AVI, instead of using the h264 and h265.

imagine all the video on youtube are converted to h265 aaand you have to pay billion to MPEG LA? naaah  sweat.gif

H265 are supported in older GPU date back to Vega64 iirc. VP9 require new gpu.

I had search around , mostly with higher end gpu card like 1660 or turning can run well on decode VP9.Older card like 1080ti may rely on cpu.

If your budget is limited, buy the 3600, spend the extra money on at least an SSD for your boot device
You use the SSD every single time your PC runs and you will see that advantage far more than the extra 2 cores
*
It's more on converting video using 8 cores , i am not sure whether gaming really utilize 8 cores. While playing 8k video cpu 80-90% temperature over 80'c.
That is why i am asking whether ryzen playing on 8k video cpu usage. You can download any 8k sample like bunny and try with and without decoding on vlc or mpc.
The idea using ssd is good but most video are large size which not recommend to save in SSD since ssd not for storage.

1. So buying any BIOS without a recovery button is still fine.It not able UPS , sometimes , bios will get corrupted if pc is infected with virus on UEFI.So it's the best to have a 2nd BIOS .I will check for which budget motherboard that have it.

2. If in the case , getting a cheaper motherboard socket like B450 is much cost much less than B550.It'll be around 2021 0r 2022 for AM5 , not sure maybe 10 cores? any news leak about it ?

3. When converting , whether a NVENC gen 6 still costly for turing card 2k series.SO any example video bunny encoding ? you are using 3600 , can tell on how is the performance when converting some video maybe 1080p mp4 vp9 to 1080p hevc 265 without lossing quality or maybe 1-5% is acceptable. Soon av1 in future.

4. What does different model ? using same brand but maybe in future will upgrade to the same model but surely will have a different dies but since i didn't OC do you think is better to get both at the same time ? but i do not need much too much ram 16GB is enough currently.

5. I too do not watch but just wanted to confirm whether 3600 can run 8k youtube build in graphic chipset am4.

6. Maybe find Hyper 212 EVO but what is the fan speed rpm and noise level ? actually what fan Hyper 212 EVO is using if it's silent ?

7. Windows 7 enterprise still support until 2023 if I remember , and there are custom patch for security release. So software only works with windows 7 and windows 10 sometimes is too troublesome with everytime updates takes time , no offline updates for user who only use slow internet smyx speed.

Not sure about USB port , are all usb 3 support backwards to 2.0 ? If not , try to find a motherboard which support USB 2.0 or a pci 2.0 card for usb 2.0 or ps/2 port motherboard or even slimslip 3.0 driver into windows 7 but need to dig which driver compatible.

Thanks I get most of the answer , now just need to research for 3600 vs 3700x speed on converting , suitable motherboard and ram.Hope price will drop at 9.9 or 11.11 promotion + voucher.

If anyone can test check , lets say download https://peach.blender.org/download/ and convert it to something other format or quality , how long it would take ?

again , still not able to decide , which AM5 motherboard can handle well 9600 or 9700 ? x version ? didn't keep up to am5 board.
AM4 is cheap but worry no more support for future upgrades.

If you are looking to upgrade in future, just grab x870e or x870 instead. No point go for AM4 as DDR4 platform is sunsetting.

Plenty. just don't pick the bottom barrels. Take note on the ports, so pick based on your requirements. Go for 8 series if you want more future-proof.

https://www.techspot.com/review/2699-amd-b650-motherboards/ (Gigabyte & ASRock are strong in this series)

https://www.techspot.com/review/2907-amd-x870-motherboards/ (ASus & ASRock are strong in this series. Asrock Nova are very popular).

MSI fell of a bit with AM5.
Yet to come are B850 boards.

Sorry forgot to add budget , standard cheap brand , non over clock , below rm500 if possible.

Those website recommend base on oversea selling price. Here selling never price drop and even increase during sales. Some board didn't sell here either.

sadly, you'll need at least RM800 for a decent AM5 board.

That is what I am concern , motherboard are too expensive now.AM4 is outdated too.
Which of suggestion for brand and model for AM5 ? exclude MSI ,
Asrock and Gigabyte cheaper ?

babylon52281 sorry , I think of skipping Intel 1700 , still deciding about AM5 motherboard , any suggestion too?
