Sadly 5800X is the easiest CPU to get due to its poor value, otherwise I'd be rocking a 5900X now.

That's also besides the fact that XT should have the best bins in the respective SKUs, considering they're having trouble even hitting the lofty numbers right now, I don't think things will change very much in the next 6-8 months.

Im unsure of the mobo models ITX users have but I'm sure that there hasn't been a case of the chipsets melting, just as I'm sure that there are more than a handful of X570i users. If there was such as issue, it would have been highlighted in the community like the SF PSUs being faulty around 2q2020 or H1 potentially catching on fire.

I looked through the links and saw that they're on ATX but the thermals matched my experience on the ITX. I've got a couple giga X570is around and if we're going by anecdotes, the one in the smallest case I have (k39) gets to about 70°C during extended gaming. This isn't much of a problem as stated in the links given, unless I'm missing something.

My opinion is that 5800x remains a stupid CPU because of its price being so close to 5900x. The latter also suffers less from temp hotspot, meaning better PBO and less irritating fan ramp fluctuations.

If you only need an 8 core, get a 10700k instead at this point or wait for RKL.

It is true that 5800x availability is more widespread than 5600x, that's probably the reason for the suggestion of it. But I still think that if anyone who wants just an 8c16t CPU, go for the 10700k instead.
Well 5800x has also risen to 5900x old price too. The 5950x is now also a RM4k CPU. 5900x can be had for RM3.1k, you're saving a measly RM600 for a 5800x...? Why?

5800x has the worst silicon quality if you want to play the lottery too. 8 cores 16 threads crammed into a single little chiplet, that's why the hottest reported Zen 3 SKU is the 5800x and NOT the 5950x.

I got a 5800x for about RM 2130 (slightly above its RM 2049 MSRP) as well back in late December when the 5900x was nowhere to be found for MSRP. Initially if you're comparing 5800x at RM 2049 to the 5900x at RM 2499 (was the MSRP 2449, 2459 or 2499, my memory fails me), then yes no way in hell I'd go for a 5800x, make so little sense even from a price point, we haven't even start talking about the temperature issues that were cropping up online specific to the 5800x.

Then I got the 5800x, installed it, used it and... pleasantly surprised. Cooled by an EK AIO 240, CP2077 load temps never breach 70c. Idles at 40-41c, and with my room A/C on, I've seen idles at 33c even. Most likely got a golden sample I guess.

Did some tuning on my rig. CPU can fall below 40C on idle now.

The first thing you should do is check the power plan you're using, AMD chipset driver install 2 additional powerplan that boost responsiveness at the cost of your power bill
Set it to balanced mode first before fiddle with BIOS.

My exhaust fan is using Noctua NF-A14 ippc3000. Running at 2000rpm. This casing surprisingly can dampen the noise. I also used external sound card now.

Uninstall rubbish apps like Corsair iCUE. Yes, some apps keeps your CPU from going idle.

You can try this power plan as well. It makes turbo less aggressive.

At Advanced Power Settings, under Processor Power Management, check if System Cooling Policy is set to Active. Will slightly help to reduce the temperature.
If don't want the fans to ramp up and down too much, set smaller difference of fans speed between the temperature. Mine if not mistaken is set to 20% increase from 40c till 60c.

Even just idling my Chrome still take 3 to 4 % CPU processing. Sometimes spike to 5%.

In your balanced power plan, what % is your min proc state? Try putting 99% heard it works better.
