is the R9 5900XT the cheapest 16 core CPU in the market now? currently I am running on AM4 with R7 5800X+32GBRAM. don't feel like upgrade to AM5. the idea is to upgrade the CPU and RAM to 64GB RAM for LLM-based RAG application. for GPU will be sticking to RTX3090 currently in use. any better idea guys?

If your usage is thread heavy loads then yeah its better to just upgrade CPU for more cores. But your use is also speed dependent maybe its better oneshot changeover to AM5 7950x plus easier to manage high capacity 64GB in DDR5 over DDR4.

on 2nd thought. decided to just upgrade to 2TB pcie4 nvme ssd and add more ram. as the bottleneck is not the cpu but rather the amount memory for long context rag.

What is the best way to utilize 9950X3D Cache Core for gaming?
by way of Window/AMD arrangement?
by way of Motherboard manufacturer - eg. i'm using MSI Carbon wifi and there's a setting of prioritizing X3D CCD (X3D Gaming Mode) - which i guess it will disable non X3D CCD.
or by prioritizing Cache CCD under AMD CBS -> SMU Common Options -> CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores to Cache?

another fried X3D CPU, some user also reported experienced it on other brands of mb, maybe bad batch of CPU?

Based on 9800X3D data, I think it's something more than a "bad batch":

Sometimes, the CPU dies with no physical symptoms. Like my 9800x3d. Motherboard survived though.

Anyone here using 9950X3D with msi mpg x870e carbon wifi. Can confirm to me is it so far so good? I was just received mine (online purchase) at last week but still not install to use it because my PC casing still otw shipping by sea from China.

I just simply plug in a PSU to test it without insert ssd. It was successfully booted up into BIOS but showing 61~62 degree celsius idling. However, I just simply to put a few thermal paste (arctic mx6) to the center surface then put an old 140mm twin tower cpu cooler (cryorig r1 ultimate) on the CPU IHS surface without screw it up during testing.

Is it normal 61~62 degree celsius idling temp for this CPU? I was just worried about the CPU may get fried, even though mine is not Asrock motherboard.

I mean its not likely issue of the mobo ; likely the root cause is the CPU itself, with added poor quality? of the mobo itself.. the mobo maybe just the symptom

We should also consider the PSU as a potential root cause since components like the motherboard, CPU, and GPU all rely on it for power.

This situation reminds me of my experience 14 years ago with my i7-2600K and Asus Sabertooth P67. After sending my CPU for RMA, my PC died again just two weeks later. At the time, I couldn't figure out what was causing my CPU to fail. I used a PCI debug card, and the post code only displayed "00"—the CPU was completely dead, with only the case fans lighting up.

In the end, I decided to replace the entire setup, switching to an i7-3770K, an MSI Z77 MPower motherboard, and a new Corsair 850W PSU while keeping my old RAM. After that, my PC ran smoothly, and I never had another dead CPU.

I used to be quite loyal to Asus when building my PCs, but after that bad experience, I completely changed my mind and became a dedicated MSI fan. I've now been using MSI motherboards and GPUs for 14 years. Even my gaming monitor, the MSI MAG321QR-QD, is from MSI. I never went back to Asus motherboards—especially after the disappointment with the Asus TUF series.

AMD have CPU cooking itself, Intel has 13/14 Gen degradation. But no one is talking about AMDs problem or at most brush it aside saying user error. Too many Utubers are whiteknighting AMD or canceling the issue.

I do not recommend your guys to buy Asus TUF series products. My first bad experience was Asus Sabertooth P67 (The Ultimate Force). After that, i've got an Asus TUF-AX3000 gaming router. All the LED lights are totally dead now, the quality is worse than the original Asus RT series router. I was also bought a used Asus TUF RTX 3070Ti, the fans are noisy with its hissing sound. I was bought the oem fans from China seller to replace it after that.

The paste application is wrong for this CPU. You need to do X . 280mm AIO or the best air cooler is bare minimum.
