This is really interesting 9800x3d. what if the power is cap to be similar to 7800x3d, how will it perform in gaming?

in gaming, 9800x3d appears to consume less power than 7800x3d. weird in a good way

9800x3d runs good at stock settings, no need to use PBO & CO.

i'll buy one next year.

Dropping the TDP to 105w will make it more efficient than the 7800x3D with the same performance in gaming yet still come ahead in general applications.

Glad that AMD just set it at 120w and users are free to go "eco" mode if they want to for the x3D unlike the whole debacle of forcing the other Zen 5s into eco mode out of the box.

yeah, looks like the 9800x3d is at its limit out of the box at 120w, hence settings PBO yield negligible performance.

they learned from the 9000 launch.

Too bad its way too expensive for just an 8core CPU, and the only time you can tell a difference with a 5700X3D is by using it with a 4090 playing at 1080P reso. Orz

5600x to 9800x3d not much upgrade I think. Better wait for better GPU to replace 3080. Play 4k or 2k?

yeah.. scroll down a bit and saw a pic about the cacat socket. likely the cause of the improper fitment.

Maybe he use hammer gua, CPU socket are ZIF, zero insertion force so meaning its just drop in.

Maybe overclock gua. Deswai past X3D gens dun allow OCing maybe coz AMD knows this might happen
