wow. based on leaked R23 benchmark from both sides, Ryzen9 7950X is competitive against i9 13900K with less cores but same threads. guess that high frequency boost does help AMD out this gen. default 5.0 or 5.1 GHz all core boost for 7950X depending on cooling solution.

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-9-795...bench-r23-tests

also rumour said September 20 is the end of NDA.

tbh if 7950x isn't competitive enough against the raptors then might as well go with the raptors lol...plus i really hope AMD has learned all the lessons needed from AM4 and roll out AM5 smoothly. but we'll see. either of which fails to deliver means going back to intel for me innocent.gif since I've had good experience back in LGA1151 days.

It's not the just the performance. Ppl tend to forget or overlook other factors such as platform stability and user satisfaction; so does all those reviews.

exactly why I highlighted AM5. I didn't have a smooth experience on AM4 compared to LGA1151.

Single CCD Zens are hot AF. Absolutely need a decent cooler or you're not even going to hit the advertised boost nevermind PBO.

Yea and when looking at benches, there's really a marginal benefit considering my use of light gaming and general work/browsing etc, anyway. But that.. unexplainable itch of upgrading..

I understand some people had horrendous experience with AM4, like all those USB issues - but I started with 2600, then bought a 1200 cheap for my son's build, then upgraded to 5600 - pretty much no major issues, actually. Also build a few PCs for close friends and family - all seems fine.

Not like LGA1200 has been smooth sailing either. Both platforms has issues.

AM4 will be sticking around for awhile, don't have to hurry with the upgrade. Wait for the release of AM5, see if that brings down AM4 prices and then decide after that.

Indeed, yes, currently I'm just waiting to see how stuff turns out. Not really planning to get DDR5 anytime soon, so maybe if the 5800X3D drops in prices.. who knows.

Other than the Russia war blowing up into WW3 or new stupid Monkey-covid hybrid virus turns out, that is.

Power efficiency on load is one part. Power efficiency during idle is another part.

Another part is platform stability.
I can't believe AM4 platform still unstable until now since Zen was launched in year 2016.
Buggy AGESA is a pain. Every release fixed some bugs and introduces another. shakehead.gif

After using 3950X and 5950X, I am really start to doubt my purchases. hmm.gif

Should buy 5950x (below 2.5k) or wait for 7950x?

i face no such problem as a regular consumer. well, to each their own. but expect AM5 platform to be buggy also initially.

Every revision contains bug, there are no bugs free software/hardware. cpu are incredibly complex stuff.
the bugs always got fixed in later EFI firmware, new mobo revision and cpu stepping.

I expect the platform to be more stable as time passed, not unstable dry.gif

AMD doesn't even fix fTPM stutter bug completely, USB random disconnection frequency simply reduced, WHEA error etc.

I do experience bsod on my R7 6800 lappy, but that's because im using beta Win11.
Main rig is because aging GPU and weak PSU, I do experience Bluetooth disconnection via USB, also due to EOL wifi adapter.

My mini pc work great actually, which is Asus pn-51 R7 5700U, the mentioned TPM issue never really affected me.

BSOD is very common, my company use DELL+Intel for every PC, even such expensive stuff (Latitude 7320 Detachable) still i still encounter BSOD.

And so here's my review of the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X in picture form, I recommend viewing it in video form for better understanding of this product : The video link is at https://youtu.be/H2NW7N-pPRE

Basically I like this product a lot, out of the box it's OK but it is very overclockable and I am able to use lowered voltage to keep cool the otherwise rather hot running CPU.

It has onboard graphics too which is a plus point, you can check out the performance in the video.

No price (for Malaysia market) as of now, it will be announced tomorrow night at the AMD Ryzen 7000 launch event.
