The internet will be full of shills.
If its AMD burn, its user error. Hentam the user.
If its NVidia burn, its Nvidia problem. Hentam Nvidia.
If its Intel burn, its mobo AIB problem. Hentam Intel (wait, why hentam Intel eh? hmm.gif )

It seems 9800x3d are also facing hardware failures

is the R9 5900XT the cheapest 16 core CPU in the market now? currently I am running on AM4 with R7 5800X+32GBRAM. don't feel like upgrade to AM5. the idea is to upgrade the CPU and RAM to 64GB RAM for LLM-based RAG application. for GPU will be sticking to RTX3090 currently in use. any better idea guys?
*
If your usage is thread heavy loads then yeah its better to just upgrade CPU for more cores. But your use is also speed dependent maybe its better oneshot changeover to AM5 7950x plus easier to manage high capacity 64GB in DDR5 over DDR4.

the commonality is the CPU manufacturer i.e AMD
*
AMD have CPU cooking itself, Intel has 13/14 Gen degradation. But no one is talking about AMDs problem or at most brush it aside saying user error. Too many Utubers are whiteknighting AMD or canceling the issue.

Arctic mx-4.. damn..
but mine using polar therm X8 quite good on my decent processor with 240MM aio (tuned)

well anyway i'm waiting 9800X3D stock availbility okay, time to pass 78X3D for gf or spare as well
*
This is whats stated in X8 product sheet; "making it suitable for gaming PCs with processors that have a thermal dissipation power (TDP) of up to 70 watts." sweat.gif
Time to move up once your new CPU arrives. Good budget option TF 7/8/9, if you can splurge go for TG Duranaut(?). Not sure if can get Kingpin KPX here.

u reminds me the disaster of the 7000 series X3D issue, but frankly that time AMD managed to do it..

well AIB should lock the RAM voltage or whatever it calls sweat.gif
*
9800X3d still have self burning issue which Bios cannot fix... or at least AMD claimed its fixed but who knows.

Bought another 9950X3D during Lazada 4.25 sales, surprisingly AllIT listed the 9950X3D without requiring a motherboard bundle. After applying voucher, the price was even slightly below MSRP. So now I’m upgrading my CPU from 8 cores to 16 cores  thumbup.gif

What you plan to do with the spare 9800x3d?

MSRP MSRP or scalper MSRP? biggrin.gif
Consider that its used (or was it you were simply 'open box to test so that it works'? wink3.gif )

While Asrock shares the most failures it isnt just an Asrock problem.

So owners of other mobo brands should check if they have those settings too.

anyone use Core Temp to monitor Ryzen cpu temp? last I used was on Intel Skylake era.

https://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
*
CoreTemp very very old dy, no support for hybrid CPUS like LGA1700 gens so it likely has security holes.

AMD has a very good command center for monitoring, why not use that?

Personally I use LibreHardwareMonitor as it allows to put a widget on desktop for me to monitor in real time (at the right side)

Then try Thermal Grizzly Extreme like post in the previous page...

Be careful as many TG pastes series are made for performance not durability for long term usage. If dont want to keep taking out cooler every year to replace TP due to pump out, go with TG Duronaut which is for day to day use.

Interesting, wasn't aware of this for TG Extreme.

Theres reddit discussions apparently
https://www.reddit.com/r/watercooling/comme...e_after_1_year/

And I guess its mainly the reason for Duronaut existence.

Apparently 5700X3D have been EOL ady. Since 5800X3D have been constantly out of stock for pretty much 2025, Im wondering if the bigger bro CPU was actually EOL earlier beforehand...

Looks like the end for AM4. Still not betting against them slicing & dicing into more 'new' skus.

9800X3D and 7800X3D price gap still quite huge, is this just our currency or dealership margins?

based on idealtech's latest price list -
9800X3D - 2399
7800X3D - 1429

almost 1k difference. I'm curious because I saw from other forums, in other countries like UK the difference sometimes is just 30 GBP... so it makes more sense to go with 9800X3D
*
LOL The difference is not as apparent in Western nations bcoz their controlled by MSRP if bought from official retail. Here theres no MSRP so distros & reseller knows king CPU is hot stuff so if you want the best you gotta pay their extortion prices. 7800x3d is old stuff and typically Asian prefer the newest so it doesnt sell as well but theres the bargain if you dont mind buying older gen parts.

senseis, i saw on gamers nexus they said for 9800x3d, the rate of failure for the cpu was rather high for asrock mobos, next was asus.

gigabyte was fewest cases of this..

also they said the x570 mobos were the most affected
also gigabyte x570 gaming x wifi got the memory stability pass for the ddr5

is this the model to get? or skip altogether?

gigabyte issue was for intel old models. newer mobos not affected.
so is this model good or recommend something else?
*
x570 is for AM4, noting to do with 9800x3d (AM5)

For AM5 just get any MSI, my reco B650M Gaming PLUS Wifi for all rounder performance, features & pricing

Value for money B650m MSI gaming Plus wifi mobos will end soon. Whoever wanting to build AM5 rig better do so now before B650 ups in pricing.
https://www.techpowerup.com/340133/amd-b650...rry-the-segment

B850 mobos are quite a bit pricier and doubtful they will reduce anytime soon.

My mistake. Is typo. But that is beside the point I was making.

I was meaning the x870 mobos with the 9800x3d u can Google there are news stories about this right now. Both Mobo and AMD pointing finger at each other.😅

Didn't hear much issue for 7800x3d so went with that since it cost less and paired better for graphic card without overspend. Minus the recent news dilemma, Donno know what's going on there 😬
Jus an update on crappy MSI x870 tomahawk wifi audio. For myself I'm using an edifier qr65 speaker. When I plug it on using isb, it uses it's own dac internally in the speaker. So should avoid whatever potential issue in regards to crappy MSI audio realtek chip dac included.

After I watch hardware unboxed, he explains what is different between the chipsets. Based on price n features I think I r right. But bit late. Anyway it was in my budget so no problem. But like I said for my system spec maybe the b650 would have been the more value buy

*Update

B650 no pcie5.0? So I guess unless I need that b650 is fine 😅
*
PCIE Gen5 for GPU is overrated. Even 5090 doesnt saturate Gen4 slot max capacity. By the time a monster GPU will need Gen5 speeds, AM5 will have long been EOL ady. Maybe will see in AM6 or AM7 lah.
