On American and Oceania realms, game token is now being sold at 100k gold per token. Are you able to make that much gold in a given month?

In game gold is generated by one of these activities: loot drop, quest reward, group/raid finder reward, world quest reward, champion hall mission reward. Some of the more rewarding activities are to do world quests, run champion hall missions, and to solo legacy raids. I do not include profession, AH and selling carry as gold generation because those gold are actually obtained from other players who need to do the actual gold generation activities to get the gold in the first place.

If the player base in average cannot generate enough gold per month, eventually the current stash of gold will run dry when people purchasing more game tokens and the price will fall back. But if the player base find it easy to generate 100k in game gold or more in a month, game token price will be pushed up higher as demands increases.

Lets do this survey and hopefully it can predict whether the game token price will go up or down in the future.

On other WOW forums some people seem to think the spike in gold cost is temporary and the price of game token might fall a lot in the future once this initial rush is over. If you believe this can be the case, here is one way to save subscription money. Spend USD$20 now and sell it at AH to get 100K+ gold, if the game token fall back to 60K gold in the future, you end up spending less actual money to get 1 month of subscription.

But it is a gamble and risk that you will have to take.

well if the token price fell again in the future, you should buy more token before flying is released in patch 7.2.0. Once flying is released, world quest farming will become so much more efficient I think the game token price will rise again as a result.

Ever since WoW Token being launched, I do not find the gold for token is hard to earn, even I feel it is quite easy, which this doesn't looks balance to me.
If gold comes so easily with so little to no value, who the hell will still want to exchange token for gold?

There are different kind of players. Some players don't spend that much time on the game and is having good income in real life. Those are the people who are willing to spend a tiny fraction of their income to get up to speed quickly by simply buying gold, buy raid run etc by spending real actual money. I think that's the reason why American realms have lower gold cost for game token, as many players are relatively richer than those in Taiwan and China realms, which have insane gold cost for game token.

In game gold can actually be created using the few approaches I mentioned earlier, and those are time sinks. Some people need to be willing to spend the time to farm gold in order to create gold supply in game. Other easy gold making activities such as selling profession crafted item, selling run, or play AH, cannot create new in game gold. They are only activities to transfer gold from one person to another. While it is easy for someone to make lots of gold using profession, AH or selling runs, it does not generate new gold and therefore the price will eventually decrease when those gold get used up by buying game time, in game items etc.

If there are not enough people spending enough time farming gold, token price is going to decrease. But if farming is easy to create lots of gold, then the game token price is going to increase. Personally I don't see how I can farm 100k worth of gold if running only a single toon at the moment, even if that toon do all the solo raid runs, finished all world quests and run all gold generating champion hall missions.

American realms have just crashed to 66k per game token now. Anyone who has sell token at high price can now get cheaper token back and end up paying less for subs

I got 3 tokens in 1 week by just doing mining, after about 1.5 month of Legion launch, the selling price at the peak during that time, that was insanely easy with insane high return lmao. I'm not sure about now thou, I heard they still good as progression raid need those mats.
