If it cant compete to much extent or take over other competitors, at least it will survive among its users. Like a lot of ppl said and experienced, once you mac, you will mac again/forever. And apart of that, more and more pc users are switching or getting mac.

Unless, apple did something really stupid that will ruin itself, the future is bright for apple.

I'm sure there are many more Stevie's out there. Besides, I'm sure he'll find his protege - too bad I refuse to relocate to USA *grins* tongue.gif

@CarlVlad,
Orange is also a class of its own! whistling.gif

for now, apples future is bright..theres no doubt about it..apple is making a big come back...but as far as i can see..i think apple is not going to focus just on the ipod and computers anymore...since they change their name...i think they will be a company more like sony...creating and innovating gadgets and technology....and dont forget..theres also rumors of a apple game console..so who knows...apple makes everything so confidential...u never know what steve jobs can do or will do...

Have you used Vista?

As an upgrade, Vista adds nothing but "Style" as compared to XP. Difference is EVEN after a delayed launch, problems abound. There are driver incompatibilities that make even the commonest soundcards and printers come to a crashing halt.

And it still is an inferior computing environment as compared to OS X.

There is a fine line between functionality and style. What is required for function to some may be simply "Style" to others.

... and what's with the "once eaten considered sold" phrase? How does that in any way relate to your point?

basically 2 key techonologies that windows should have all along are not there but apple has it:

1) Journalling. wtf does a "modern day" OS still need a disk defragmenter that will eventually grind your hdd? Heck even linux can journal.

2) OpenFirmware. Although MS finally realized that their HAL was a complete pile of shit and removed it from vista, vista still uses drivers the way XP did with HAL. OpenFirmware however has more fun as you can change the whole system and need not reformat because drivers are loaded everytime the machine starts and cleared at shutdown.

Your typical computer/music player from Apple will last 3 years by today's standards, 5-6 years if you can really stand it. The way Apple's stock is today, even if Steve Jobs were to disappear tomorrow, Apple will survive longer than the lifetime of your computer.

You're buying a computer dude, don't worry about it too much biggrin.gif

Many people say that if steve has to retired, the perfect candidate to replace him is Jonathan Ive, the man behind Apple industrial design. He was the one that responsible for the design of the iPod. Maybe he's the right candidate, but i think no-one can replace Steve.

Mr. Steve Job is a marketing Genius. I think APPLE will survive...but it can go down too, if the management is not wise.

While he is a good entrepreneur to start with (he did start Apple), I think you're forgetting a few of the things that Apple has done under his rule in creating new markets or enhancing them where they were non-existent before.

First, the Apple I and the Apple II back then when personal computers were starting out. The Mac GUI (WIMP) back in 1984. The DTP market that came along with it when Apple first launched the laser printer. The colorful computers with the iMac in 1998. The iPod + iTunes Store combo over the period of the past few years.

Some others that were done when he wasn't around as well. The Powerbook is one.

He is a pretty damn good at creating new markets. I don't know how else to describe it.

@tishaban & E|dan,
An entrepreneur needs to know how to Market products, other than just have capital. He also needs to have a good sense of business - there are other areas to look at. A Marketing person is more focused on just Marketing a product.

I don't follow much about Apple so I really can't say if he's a good leader, have good foresight, have good skills, have good people behind and around him, or if he's just that good on his own... Still, I believe no one is ever indispensible biggrin.gif
