hey dazzle..my roborovski oso i bought it from a shop at sunway mentari..i did ask the guy for female one but t seems like that guy dont know how to determining the sexes..haha..izit the pet shop beside the cc?

I bought them inside of Sunway Pyramid - Pets Safari ..
I can't even handle the robo at the moment .. they're very jumpy.

Normally they have separate them from the sex.

crazymouse advise me before on the sex.

Don't buy from the same shop if you want to breed.

Buy from another shop, so the baby will be normal.

I got 2 Robos male. Never think to breed them.

But my wws is going to product baby, hahaha

they try to escape from your hand.

I buy 2 plastic ball for them to run in my house.

Let them excise or else nite you not need to sleep.

They very active on the nite time.

yeah .. i managed to keep one of my robo still on my palm. The other chubbier robo is hard to handle. He's way too jumpy - kept wanting to escape from my palm.

Note: My syrian is recovering from the pus ( i guess ). His condition's not as bad as yesterday. Last nite i saw the pus burst ady and bleed a bit but dried already. Today i checked on him again - it's recovering *RELIEF SIGH*

i got few hamster ( RC type)that died recently i wondering is the food causing problem?
the hamster seems be less active before it died ( 1 among it ) , for other still ok , but just no idea why they died their age almost 1 year ,
does the food quality matters ?? if yes , any recommended?

My hamster just died 25 mins ago. Already buried >.<

Dunno what happened. Was ok while it was in the car, when i driving back. But when i reached home, i put her in the room, and half hour later, she started acting strange.

To think of it, in car also abit strange already. Instead of the usual, silent and sleeping mode in car, she moving around, digging the beddings.

Anyway back to the room, when i discovered her, she doesnt want to eat her favourite treats. Another 5 minutes later, she slump flat on cage, not moving, just staring ahead, but breathing heavily.

45 mins later, dead . What could it be? Heat stroke? Heart attack? She is quite plump for a dwarf, cause she eats alot T.T

It is a mixbreed... so better you do not breed it since if you breed it with another WW, chances are that it may spoil the pureness of winter whites in the future.

Still the best example.

You feed watermelon? That is kind of unhealthy.... also too much mandarin orange can cause sickness in hamsters....

You should not take out the wheel at night coz hamsters are nocturnal and they need to run about at night. If you do not let it excercise out it's energy, the hamster will become stress and chew the bars of the cage, which can cause teeth problems later.

Never let hamsters jump off high places, once they fall, there is a risk of internal injury or internal bleeding and this cannot be treated by the vet.

Anyway, the pus could be from the wood shavings. Many small animals now fall allergic to the woodshaving brands these days since got more chemicals in. My hamsters and gerbils used to be on Chipsi but currently they would develop breathing problems and eye problems from Chipsi....

All you can do is clean it using a wet cotton bud. If there is sneezing involved, bring to a vet coz it would be a case of flu and if it never heals, can lead to pneumonia...

Sexing Robos are always difficult since they are so small. So never try to locate the testicals but more on locating the genital area... the gap lah.

What type of food have you been feeding? Elaborate please. If you do not tell us what brand, how do we know what caused it? Also, do state their daily diet and where do you keep them in your home.

Was your hamster's mouth wet? Coz if it is in the car too long and if it was on a hot day, chances are that it could be a heat stroke. Chubby hamsters are prone to that as well as young hamsters.

vegetarian diet. Some books had also suggested that consuming meat
encourage the cannibalism of young by adult hamsters.

its pouch was full of food which led me to believe she gather all her food up during the last moments before she lay still. weird behaviour

and her body was damp, but dont think the mouth was wet

i read up on heatstroke, and they advice to apply some water on its body, which i did, but they say it shoudl recover within 10 mins, which she didnt

anyway just a question, with a small cage like the crittertrail mini, its not advisable to rear two dwarfs right?
i thought of getting another, but i contemplating between getting 2 for companion sake. is it advisable? or the hamster usually prefer solitariness?

Critter Trail Mini is way way way too small.... Just keep 1 would do. If you keep 2 in such a small tank, there is bound to be some fights and maybe another death.

Sometimes hammies die from unknown reasons... their bodies are small so they are prone to getting diseases that we can't detect... so heat strokes can be bad or stable... depends really.

Icic.. Should i sacrifice and buy a bigger cage, habitrail perhaps and keep two? Or stick wiht just one? Cause i've been thinking, would ww hamsters prefer company, or they would prefer solitary over company? Cause if they are happy being solitary, then i more than happy with 1
