Whoops. Morning blur tongue.gif

By the way, just a reminder. Is there anyway to keep out hamster cage from pest such as ants or centipede?

Sad to say, two of my boys got poisoned by a centipede that climbed into their cage and died cry.gif , my most sayang one was one of it...........

Just post this up so that no one else have to suffer as i do as i neglected this part of situation when i just put the cage on the floor inside my house.

i dunno whether this is normal to Syrians... but mine both are so active (maybe bcoz not fat YET...)... they really run on wheels from around 11pm to 6am... even when my wife wake up in the middle of the night somewhere around 3am to prepare milk for my son, still can hear them running... doh.gif so i think if they are fat a bit can slow down the running la... quite noisy also.... vmad.gif

Yeah like dogs. Crazymouse said that they'll drool if it's too hot. Hamsters don't sweat that's for sure.

QUOTE(joanalooidog @ Mar 2 2007, 08:57 AM)
Er....i think ur statement regarding soaking vege in salt water is wrong........ (no offence)
Actually, by soaking veges in salt water will actually lead to pesticide clotting. A lot of ppl thought that by soaking them into salt water, the pesticide can be washed out easily.
The actual fact is that, it will help the pesticide to bond on the vege even harder.
The best way is to wash the vege with the pesticide detergent thingy.
Another way is by washing them with flowing water. Meaning on the tap, let the water flush on the vege for some time. THis method waste water loh.....
Soaking the vege in the water will not help much.
Any corrections??
*
Well, this was taught to me by my chemistry teacher in A levels that holds master degrees in mathematics, physics and chemistry. He did say if possible, get the holey veggie. Less trouble.

lol
Get the silent spinner or put some lubricating oil on the axle of the wheel.

Why do you want them to be fat? Don't think of just making them fat. As long as you feed them a good balanced diet, they will eventually gain weight. That's what's happened to most of my hams so far, that's why they look so chunky. tongue.gif

Hahaha... my friend who gave me my 1st syrian told me that.... that was like 12 years ago hahahah... but if your syrian's fur a bit greasy or smelly, just apply some baby powder, rub the powder into the fur with your fingers and later brush away the powder using a toothbrush. Then the hamster will smell nice and look nice too. I call this Dry Bath... heeheh... coz sometimes dogs and cats also must dry bath.
*
cant wait to use toothbrush for my hammy heheh..but must buy new one first...dont want to share la hahaha...

btw,
my two mottled-dove males white part of fur always turn to yellowish la...
i feel sand bath didnt effect to clean that yellowish fur..
emm..what i must do aa..must i bath them ?? hmm.gif

Normal lah... hamsters are nocturnal.

If noisy, just take some minyak and apply at the wheel's spinner.

To make them fat, you should feed them a variety in their diet.... fruits, vegie, grain, bread, rice, meat, insects....

Sand bath is to get rid of grease(minyak) on the fur to make it nice looking. The yellowish stain is Pee lah.... they kencing kencing on each other hahaahh.... well, you can try bathing with water but very risky.... better you just use a wet cloth to wipe them.

My ww.. I feel like wanna cekik it sometimes. I put the bedding nicely for it and it'll kick one spot away in the corner then pee there, as a result, the pee won't be absorbed by the bedding and it'll stink. grrrr... vmad.gif

jz use normal cooking oil to lubricate the wheel... other greese or household lubricant might be dangerous if ur hamster licks it.....

yeah, jz give them normal diet good enough... too fat also not good, like mine everyday sleep only.... thats why i alwiz wake them up in the middle of their sleep... kekekeke... brows.gif

hahaha.... i guess its normal for syrians... they dig and push the beddings away and sleep on it... i guess they dont like sleeping on the bedding, but prefer to be surrounded by beddings....

potty train ur hamster if u dont want them to pee in the cage.... if ur hamster is well potty-trained, u only need to clean their potty when they are smelly.... otherwise, wait till their cage full with poos only change the beddings....

thats why now i change my hamster beddings once every 2 weeks.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Hard to potty train.. I read an article.. the lady use vinegar to wash the cage everytime to take off the smell until her hamster pee at the right place. I'm planning to get a small hidehouse and connect it to my habitrail mini then put bath sand.. hopefully my ww will use it.

You can seriously. Not apply. Clean it with vinegar. It takes off the smell. Crazymouse thought me that method too. smile.gif rclxms.gif

Yups... vinegar is safe to use. Cleaning a cage with vinegar can get rid of certain smells.... and if you drip a circle of vinegar around the cage, it can ward off ants for a day or 2...

I just bought 1 pairs of Winter white, 1 is pearl(male) and 1 more the sapphire(female). biggrin.gif
I try to put them in the same cage with my Gangsters(Robos).

1 of the Robos fight with the male WW. vmad.gif

So i faster separate them, put the WWs in my plastic cage.

Look like WW is easy to handle than the gangters. sweat.gif

Share u all 1 more thing on my syrian. drool.gif

He is very tame. I always let him go out from the cage and give his walk around my house.

After he feel tire, he will got back to the cage by himself. nod.gif
