hi, am new to this car tinting stuff. Hope sifus here can give some data input
i am looking for tinting which can block the most heat while compliance to JPJ, and won't affect GPS signal.
Any recommendation on brand/model should i take?
Priority: Heat, Durable, JPJ compliance, GPS signal
high appreciate your advise!
I just done my homework recently and I managed to find good package for 3M Crystalline, Huper Optik X3 and VKool Elite which considered among the tops in tint films. I didn't go deeper in checking about VKool since most mentioned VKool tint has metal material and thereafter some pros and cons. Not to mention VKool price tag is higher than the other two and potentially SmartTag unfriendly.
On 3M Crystalline and Huper Optik X3, both shouldn't have any issue on GPS signal however 3M Crystalline has tendency of failing SmartTag. Since on quality and performance wise almost the same, I went for Huper Optik X3

On JPJ's approval is 70% VLT front & rear, 50% VLT for sides. Well, Huper Optik will absorb the saman if you got them

Both of my car is installed with 3M tinted.
Crystalline series will affect Smart Tag (Yes n No) This very much depends on the SMART TAG lane. Some lane are ok some are not.
May be this is due to the device on the lane itself, brand new unit or old unit.
To solve this problem the very top part of my car was tinted with black color film, not 3M. Only the little part was not tinted with 3M Crystalline. Then I will place my smart tag over that area each time I pass the Smart Tag lane.
Or Alternatively you can opt for 3M FX HP film, which is smart tag friendly.
Both car fitted with different series of film, one car Crystalline Series Full, another is FX HP Full. Both got no issue on GPS signal.
Hope my 2 cents helps.
Hi viper1912, thanks for your feedback. I have done my tinting with Huper Optik but this is good information to shares with new folks here. In anyway, the shop that I went is a 3M authorized applicator too. He added that some of his clients tinted with 3M Crystalline doesn't has any issue with SmartTag unless it is older generation of the SmartTag device, then it wouldn't work.
