Hi all sifu here. Just bought a new Honda Accord. Honda offered their tinting stating RM2k-RM3k. Worth it?

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Ask them the brand of tinting film that are using and specification. Then only you could ask around for the price accordingly to compare. Different tinting film will cost differently. Huge diff in price between the high spec and low spec film.

honda's partner is vkool. dun think it is worth it. they marked up price already.

It could be that the tinting was done thru the SA. Thus, does not necessary to be vkool. My Honda is using RikeCool.

why don't you choose huper optik?it's cheaper than vkool...

Huper Optik is a nano ceramic technology, will not effect electrical device. And heat rejection is almost same with Vkool, and 3M

Huper optik 70 and 40 provide saman claim too...The most important is colour is attractive and better than others!!

Are you using them yourself?
Where can get this done? How much for a small car?

Anyone used Wingard before?

Whatever brand of tinting film, there are 1st grade & 2nd grade. So, will depends on which ones that is used. This what I was told.

Security film will not prevent break-in. Not with a pro. It is more to delay any one from smashing the window and make a quick grab of what ever that is on the car seat, etc.
Even with the few thousand RM alarm system also cannot prevent break-in....

would 3M warrants JPJ summons and replacing the tint if you go for Crystalline 70 for front and 50 for sides? Anyone has idea about this?
*
JPJ's rule is 70% VLT for Front & 50% VLT for the rest. So, should be in compliance with their regulation.

I have just installed 60% for front & 40% for side on one of my ride. The shop told me that they will warrant against JPJ summons. It is of another brand. Not 3M.

Ask the guys to bring a piece underneath the sun and gauge from there with ur hand or ur entire arm. The spotlight is not accurate enough. The weather increased at least 1-2C in the noon these days. You need at least a 50% TSER to shield the heat. 64% would be the best but the cost is high. You pay for what you get.

Tint is long term usage. U use it everyday, especially to people who do sales. Invest in a better tint.

I'm on Huper Optik C40 side and front, C30 on back. Consider ok, but I would prefer higher TSER to 64%. My TSER is already on 55% +-. But it still beats RM800 no brand tint anytime. Non-JPJ compliance but no issue with RB.

I am using Huper Optik Sech 60 for front and Ceramic 40 for the side & back. Very effective rclxm9.gif

dear experts/sifus,

can i ask abt those rm 200-300 tintings that are bandied around....

are these really good tints? with UV n security features?

at the same time, people at Lummar n 3M are claiming those are cheats n etc....

say, for a new Civic, would it be prudent to go for these expensive tints or the RM 200-300 would suffice?

kindly advice,.,,,
*
This is from my personal experience of using RM700 tint on one car while on the other was using the RM1.5k tint. Can really feel the difference especially under the hot sun in the afternoon. Since you are planning on having tinting on a 100+k car, might as well go for the better tint.
Best that you test them out yourself before you decides. Mind you, once you tinted, it is going to be costly and damaging to remove & replace the tint.

now searching tint for my fiesta..
xpress cool at JB quote me rm580 (with voucher worth 200).. to total is 780.
VLT 50%
heat rejection 50%
security film
other i dont remember

worth or not? hahaaa
*
Let's establish on why do you intend to have the tinting? Mostly, the reason is for the heat rejection, etc.
The following parameters are normally used in selecting the tint

VLT = Visible Light Transmission. This indicates amount of light that can penetrate through the tint. The lower, the darker the tint.
(This is also govern by JPJ's regulation)
UVR = Ultra Violet Rejection. Higher is better.
IRR = Infra Red Rejection. Higher is better, but may effect your SmartTag & GPS.
TSER = Total Solar Energy Rejected. The higher the better.

So, if your intention is to have a cooler car interior, and budget permits, better to get higher heat rejection tints.
IMHO, heat rejection of 50% is too low for comfort. Should go for at least TSER of 60% and above.

a Llumar sales person told me Huper Optik's 6mil security film is not under HO, but another brand, the name i forgot.

At last i chose Llumar T4-50 with AVS for FWS, RM1880. A bit over budget but the color of film is nice, still no chance to test its performance since everyday is so cloudy.

On the other hand, HO quoted me rm1400 for C70(Front & Back) + 6mil security(side).
*
HO's security film only comes in 4mill & 8 mil. And that's only in C50. That's what I know.
Just got one of my car done with Huper Optic Sech 60 for the front and C40 for the rest at around the same price.
Very effective in educing the heat thumbup.gif

y all these macam-macam/pelbagai brands tinting getting cheaper n cheaper? i see can get even from 180--300.....

what's the catch?

bubbles after some time?
*
the heat rejection is lower. Take note that the figures (%) given by the shops cannot be verified. It just their own figures.
Then there is also the durability against fading, peeling and bubbling. Can be seen commonly on some of the car rear windscreens.

I have personally used few types of tint and can conclude that what you pay is what you get.

do tint shop charge for removing old tint?

My car come with rm200 tint voucher. But the tint shop charge too high for other type of tint film..
So I my plan maybe put tint on front windsheild only. Later when back to shah alam retint all windows at reputable tint shop.

It is safe for my roadtax? As I know it will tear. If we want to peel from windsheild.
*
Most shops charges to remove old tints. Somewhere between RM150-200 or even more.
If you are not happy with the tint offered, why waste money and later have then taken out?
Especially for the rear windscreen, this process could damage the demister when the tint is removed.

As for the road tax, you could have the road tax disc placed on another clear plastic sheet before it is stuck onto the tinted windscreen. That way when you remove the plastic sheet, the disc follows. This is what the tint shop does for mine.

do the tint shops practice to replace the tint if there is some dusts within the tint? will they just say, only 1 dust and reject to replace the tint?
*
depends on the shop that you have your tinting done.
Tinting should be done is a dust free environment. They will have an air condition enclosure for this purpose. I have seen some shops where their tinting are done; sharing the same space with other car accessories activities. This is like looking for trouble
