The JPJ regulations already spelled out above, so follow them: 70% for FWS and 50% for the rest. So the obvious choice would be C70 and C50.

In general darker tint will have greater heat rejection. So don't expect C70 to reject as much heat as C50.
*
You're wrong ! C70 heat rejection is better than C50. Check the spec and test the film you will know.
Darker film only help in reducing glare. PM shaguarbb for more details because he is selling Huper Optik.

I'm buying a new Myvi and the dealer is giving me a RM 400 tint voucher. The voucher can be used for tints from Tint Master and Three S Tint. Never heard of them so I'm not sure which is better. Any ideas? Budget will be around RM 1,000 to 1,200 before discount.

IINM the JPJ ruling says the front windscreen must allow at least 60% of light while the sides, 50%.

How much is the 3M tint?
*
The voucher is marketing tools don't fool by them! Both also home brand.
The JPJ ruling is FWS needs >70%, all side and BWS >50%

Cant help you on 3M price, you need to survey around =)

Which spec are you referring to? IR Rejection?

I'm looking at TSER.

Have you test both film before? Use the VLT vs IRR to compare =)
TSER apply on architectural purpose

I understand VKOOL likes to use IRR to measure heat rejection.

However, some people feel IRR doesn't give the true heat performance and TSER is a better measure. Have a look at these threads:
http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index.php/to...84-tser-vs-irr/
http://forum.autoworld.com.my/index.php?showtopic=95090

No I haven't tested C70 vs C50, only vs C40.
*
Yes you are right, the IRR is mrkt gimmick nowadays.
Yes according to IWFA, the film performance is measure in wavelength, SHGC vs TSER
Its hard to explain here cause is too technical sweat.gif

But when you test C50 and C70, you will find that C70 will works better.
Its weird but it is truth.

Hi Everyone,

Soon to be new owner of my first car (bought with my own hard-earned cash). I was offered RM500 discount voucher for Ray Tech tinting from a car dealer. I realize the advise of some has been to disregard the voucher when choosing your tinting - just a sales gimmick.

But I'd like to know what your take is and if anyone has a recommendation for tinting. What's important to me is:
1. VLT 70% in front and VLT 50% on all other sides - as per JPJ regulations - the darker black i can get it the better : )
2. Heat Rejection doesnt have to be the BEST but I'd like it to be as high as possible given my budget.
3. Smart Tag and GPS compatible
My budget is RM500 +- RM200. I'm willing to pay if it means getting better quality/peace of mind. Going for either a Mazda3 or Kia Forte.
Should I go with Raytech and use the discount? Or are there better options out there for me?

Thanks so much!
*
If your budget is around that, I would say YES ! Oh ya your car fall under standard saloon category

option 2: vkool elite for front and back, 4 mil for side windows

huper optik has no options in color...

which is better in terms of performance? efficiency?

what is the differences between 4 mil and 6 mil?
For long distance, your FWS film must be high range.

VKOOL ELITE
Visible Light Transmittance 73.20%
Visible Light Reflectance 8.00%
Ultra-Violet Radiation Rejection 99.00%
Shading Coefficient 0.50
Infra-Red Heat Rejection 94.00%
TSER 55%

Source http://www.v-kool.com.my/Content/automotiv...t-catalogue.htm

SECH 60
Visible Light Transmittance 59%
Visible Light Reflectance 8.00%
Ultra-Violet Radiation Rejection 99.00%
Shading Coefficient 0.54
Infra-Red Heat Rejection 83.00%
TSER - 54%

Source http://www.smartwindow.com.my/

If you compare both spec, I believe V-Kool Elite has the better performance and I believe the
cost is slightly higher compare to the SECH 60. Both of the film is made from metal as material.

Oh ya, 4mil and 6mil doesn't make so much different, sometimes the film too thick will create wave on your windows after few years (cause by the adhesive of the film)
A minimum of 4Mil thick film is already consider a safety film
TSER.. this is why popular brands like vkool, 3m and huper optic are popular.. although price may be high, they do work as intended. Of course, they do have cheaper tints that are so-so quality (like 3m FX series).

Most cheap tints will not publish the TSER figures. Try to get tint with at least 50% TSER..
*
+1 not they dont want to publish their TSER but they dont have the spec !
as most of the spec is fake -.-

Beside that you should look into VLT vs Shading Coefficient vs TSER as well =)

For example,

1.0 represent normal glass
0.1 represent wall

Hi!

I've been scanning the forum and I notice that some forumers are posting Agard's TSER ratings.

I was wondering if anyone knows a contact with Agard? Looking for good service and reasonable price?

Any further information on Agard products will be super helpful. Website doesn't seem to publish it.

Cheers!

Instead of asking here why don't you visit their shop nearby you?
A simple google can get their website and shop location

Thanks!

I actually called up Agard earlier. Not too much info the guy said best to go down to the shop.

Guess I shouldn't rush into this? Thought I might try getting as much info as possible without going down to the shop first.  I will update the forum when my search is over. : )
Also thanks for the advise about Raytech and the discount.
Realistically, what should my budget be for an average/slightly above average TESR rate for the tinting?
The thickness/safety feature isn't really high on my priority.
*
Basically VLT around 70%-60% with 50-60% TSER is consider good film.
Also look for Shading Coefficient around 0.4-0.6

There is something wrong about Agard and Aircool website.
They never show the film technology and how it was made.

If you do not need so fancy tint, you can consider their RM600 promo for security.

It normal =) refer here, http://www.windowfilmdepot.com/IWFA%20Inst...20Standards.pdf
IWFA (International Windows Film Association) is well know association in US.

Normally it takes 1-2 month to cure, depends on the glass surface =)

After much consideration I've decided that it would be worth while to up my budget from RM500-700 for the tinting to RM1000+.

I was initially quite keen on Agard but it seems like that feedback has been might as well go for Huper Optik/3M if I have the budget and I want quality.

What do you guys think is it worth it for a peace of mind and quality? Based on what I've read on the forums my choices would be 3M or Huper Optik.

As I understand not much between 3M Crystalline  and Huper Optik  Sech60/C70(FWS)+C40(Side/Rear) aside from color? Or am I mistaken?
*
Refer here for Huper Optik aka Smart Window http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2374620

I would choose 3M than Huper because I always insist that metal has better rejection than ceramic.
The only problem with the 3M is they got too many fake product in market as they have too many dealer.
The film will start discoloration after few years.

The heat rejection is overall good =)

A minimum thickness for safety film is 4Mil, above 8Mil is Security film which have bullet resistant.
A normal solar control film thickness is around 1.5mil - 3mil

what's the difference if Tinting is compare through Brand ?

The price of branded one for Security Film cost above RM 1K as compare to the one that is sold by other non branded company. When i study the features like  thickness of film such as mil, light transmit etc... the specs were almost the same or not as far from it.

For me , priority is security . if i get 8 mil film from a cheap brand, will the same quality applies with the branded one? how to tell the different? is it by demonstration? what details should i be looking for ? thanks
*
The thickness is nothing to shout about, because every brand can give you 4-10mil.
The heat rejection is more important.
The test the film in few ways

Reflectance
Absorption
Rejection

Few simple tools to test the film such as "killer machine" "infra red lamp" "heat digitizer"

Make sure the film is INTERNATIONAL brand and not HOME brand. Why?
Because the film is good and they were able to sell it internationally.

Most of supplier nowadays get film from China, Korea and etc. Bring into Msia and rebrand it.
Its actually very easy to identify which are HOME or INTERNATIONAL.
At their official website, it always end up with "com.my".
Try remove the "my", and you can still access to that website,
its truly a INTERNATIONAL brand. Most of the HOME brand give you fake info especially on their spec.

Agree. Check few thing before you decide to put c40

1. If the supplier willing to cover the summon then you have no worries.
2. If your car interior is dark, then it will look darker too.
