Guys,

Since we have no Tag Heuer watches thread, it is good to have one.

I personally own AquaRacer Way111Z. So far so good.

To be honest, I bought it simply because I like the design. I know nothing about movement, appreciation, etc. What make people buying expensive watches? Why some watches can fetch more money when old? Discountinued products will be more appreciated?

Thanks guys. Lets share!

my dad got a kirium when it was released as reminder of the date his life changed. gorgeous piece, all stainless steel but ive seen some with the rubber band and i think i prefer that contrast.
watch is about the same age as me give and take a year or so. despite more exclusive brands like rollies, patek, audemars, panerai and others. the tag has always been more valuable in my dad's eyes, and thats what matters most.
excited on the day he'll let me give it a spin.

Looking to get a Tag/FC or any other reasonably priced luxury watch for below RM6k for my dad's birthday.
Anyone has any preferable shop/contact that gives good competitive pricing in PJ/KL?

My first question will be why open a watch thread without posting wrist shots? tongue.gif

Anyway a lot of WIS perceive Tag as a yuppies watch, more hate than love and a lot also started with a Tag and eventually upgrade to something else
but hey, buy what u like thumbup.gif

My Tags F1 Gulf a gift from my missus and 4000 series was my first Tag from my parents which I think is about 24 years old now. Still ticking after all these years without servicing except changing the seals and batteries. Thinking about it, where has the time gone? unsure.gif
I still wear it quite a lot and still do till today.

Hi sifus, would like to seek some opinion

https://www.tagheuer.com/en/watches/aquarac...-way2112-ba0928

For Tag watch, realistically how much discount I can ask for?

my info might be outdated but in KL, Tag boutiques can get standard 15% and ADs can get 25+% depending on negotiation skills

Amsterdam can get around 15% from ADs as well

I would prefer all other series than connected tho. Connected is nice but how long it gonna survive? 10-20 years? Dream!

By thw way, I did brush my bracelet:

Yeah, that's one of the reason keeping me away from the connected. It gets outdated sooner or later..but the only great thing is tons of watchface to use.

I guess i'll end up with just a formula series then

The good thing with Connected is you can swap for an automatic watch after 2 yeara with additional payment. Tag knows the tech will be outdated hence the exchange programme which is pretty sound.

Guys. Wondering if there is any one out there that service watches, specifically, to repairing the bracelet.

I have this old watch that I bought for RM900 brand new. 20 yrs later, a pin broke. Don't ask me how. The service center want to charge me RM1500 to replace the entire bracelet.

Your kind advise is much appreciated.

probably tag is out of budget for rm2000. tissot and oris probably able to get a few good looking watches.

first, you need to identify which type of watches, sport, classic, chronograph, etc.

i think it only applies to waterproofing warranty but i'm not sure if its that long...

and i've no experience with watch companies renewing their warranty after a service, seems highly unlikely because there's wear and tear... but i might be wrong

Thanks bro. If you do full service, means they cover everything as brand new for another 2 years. I dont know about tag how much and should be the same as tissot and rado. That's why full service is expensive, over rm700.

Anywhere can i get this color strap?

that one is basically called hirsch carbon...better use orange rubber.
as for after service warranty, afaik it is always for the parts serviced...thats why they usually just recommend a full overhaul.

When does one do an overhaul? 5 years or upon recommendation?

yes, max is 25% but if you know the sales, probably can get 1-2% more. or just shows you are serious if you really are. They dont mind giving you 1-2 more percent.

If you're not in a hurry wait for the friends and family sale. Valiram have it once in a while, cant really recall 30% discount for selected Tag?
The best is LVMH sale and the last one was 2015? 🤔

I have a Tag Heuer F1 quartz with rubber strap. Bought about 10 years ago. Was wondering if anyone has experienced their rubber straps breaking before. I've probably changed mine 5 times or so already. Previously RM 200 only and iirc the last one I changed was RM 500. Are there alternative rubber straps? Can I even use straps from other lines? i.e. carrera, aquaracer etc.

Yes, you can change rubber or leather strap from any brand as long as it is same lug size which I believe most of Tag Heuer should be 20mm. Just buy the correct size of strap will do.

Formula One is Tag entry watches but some high end Formula One series will cost you more than Aquaracer entry.

Formula One < Aquaracer < Carrera < Grand Carrera

Any idea if the Autavia is available in Malaysia yet? And also for what price?

Got a Longines Master Blue for my brother last month at Watchshoppe for a decent 26% discount. Not sure if they have the Autavia or not. Would happily shop from them again though.

I wann let go my tag heuer carrera cv2015 for just RM5500. Price is firm. Take or leave.

Condition i would say 90%. 100% working condition, the glass is clean. A bit of hairline scratches on bracelet.

This is a bargain consider new price is RM18,900 or so. So quick guys!

Reason to sell this one is because 2 watches coming this week. So this one has to go.

Hey Bro, mind to share how much do you have to pay for the mechanical module? I thought they only offer calibre 5 for mechanical module. Does it also have transparent back case?

Thanks and nice timepiece there!

There’s is a tag boutique in The Gardens mall. If it hasn’t been running it might need to be serviced. Complete service for quartz is RM550. Price list here. http://customer-service.tagheuer.com/en-my...e-list-malaysia

Funny, it went back to normal after a day or two. I read some where the parts could have been accidentally magnetised.

saw this new old stock tag heuer blue 1500 WD1214 model being listed in the market currently for RM1900.

am wondering what is the fair price for this model? considering it should be released and purchased in the 90s

can someone who have experience with older tag heuer model advise me how much is the fair price for this watch?

I'm planning to pull the trigger since it is a beauty but don't want to overpay for an old model quartz watch

The good thing with Connected is you can swap for an automatic watch after 2 yeara with additional  payment. Tag knows the tech will be outdated hence the exchange programme which is pretty sound.
*
Any connected owner swap the to automatic watch after 2 years? What is the cost for the top up? I owned a Connected Modular 45 for 2 years already, want to look for option.

For me I just want to keep at least one quartz watch, better accuracy, no need to set it when haven't worn it for a few days and keep on a winder.

Below statement should answer your query

"cost of the movement itself doesn't have too much of an impact, given all other costs involved.

Most models use an off-the-shelf movement, either automatic or quartz. Sure the quartz is a couple dollars cheaper, but on a watch that costs around $1000 that isn't too big of an impact.

The manufacturing costs for quartz vs automatic movement for someone like Tag Heuer or Seiko or any other big brand are very close. There may be $100 worth of cost differential, where as retail price for quartz will usually be many hundreds of dollars cheaper. "

[need heuer sifus opinion] hey guys.. I've found a classic tag heuer 1500 on carousell but is unsure about its authenticity.

the closest model I can find online is in flat yellow glow in the dark model while the seller is selling in gold sunburst dial.

owner also bought from another seller online hence could not provide me with much information about the watch history too.

the first photo is from an ad online while the following other 4 photos are from the seller's listing.

if this is not a replica or imitation then most likely I'll proceed with the deal. please help notworthy.gif

should be more expensive, the reason i was considering your version of the twin time was because it was still using the ETA2892, awesome movement...
mine has the SW200, which is quite accurate, only complain is the power reserve not reaching 38 hours... my seiko and orient has no issues doing 40 hours with normal wrist movement but not as accurate, but its still good considering both watches together is still cheaper than the Aquaracer laugh.gif

Once, a person told me this, if you want an accurate time, go for batt operated digital watch, confirm accurate.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Anyway, my sent my watch repair once, due to mechanical jammed. It cost me RM1.5k to send back Swiss factory and took me 2 months. mega_shok.gif

the person is right, but it depends what kind of accuracy... not all battery operated watches are accurate as those GS 9F or Citizen 0100 laugh.gif

what happened to the movement? local LVMH unable to solve?

I agree. Nowadays, people are brave enough to sell things that are fake but claim it as genuine.
They justified it with the term "reassembled" but it doesn't make the watch less fake.

Just visit your local AD. I know for Tag Heuer you can get 25% discount.

ask prices at a boutique and bargain with an AD

prices are standard, discounts vary, boutique usually can't match ADs for Tags, based on personal experience 6 years back

check out the black phantom on Tag's website... the picture you attached seems like a fake... the markers and logo is different...

and if the s/n is not registered, it might be stolen from the factory, who knows...

On my recent visit to AD, the price for Aquaracer 41mm quartz was RM6400.
Got disc 25% icon_idea.gif

Perhaps that you're looking for the 43mm should be around that range too.
Hope this helps.

My understand on this is they are buying the Swiss ETA movement themselves and do their own assembly. Which is what they call original Swiss movement watch.
Same watch, same part but not produce from the manufacturer.. I don't know how much can trust.

Hello everyone, I have a hand-it-down Tag Heuer 2000 Professional Gold 964.008 watch and I would like to have it serviced and cleaned. Where can I go about to have the watch serviced? I am not sure if I can go to the Tag Heuer service center as I do not have any certificate nor purchase receipt for this.

you don't need purchase receipts to service a watch... but if you are skeptical on its originality, you may try those unker watch shops like Foong Wah

few years back i asked the store manager at Watatime MV to price match as I wanted to get another Tag after returning from Netherlands, she couldn't match it but it was close, quite close, i think it was 26% or something like that... just ask, it's just a Tag, not Rolex or something tongue.gif

My dad gave me a Tag Heuer WG5214-PO years ago, which is my first mechanical watch. But because it's battery reserve seemed low and stopped itself quite often even though I wore it whole day (?), I stopped wearing it altogether.

Recently I wanted to wear it again, so I would like to ask how much does it cost for overhaul servicing in Tag Heuer outlet? compared to any normal watch shop? Also please recommend where can I service in Penang/Perak.

Thanks!

New Autavia models about 8% only from wata and watchshoppe, just before mco. They might give more but I doubt it. You can try wata at subang parade but they do not have that model but can order if interested, they can nego higher discounts as they are ready to bungkus soon so need the sales.

New Autavia models about 8% only from wata and watchshoppe, just before mco. They might give more but I doubt it. You can try wata at subang parade but they do not have that model but can order if interested, they can nego higher discounts as they are ready to bungkus soon so need the sales.
*
Thx bro. I went to watchshoppe sunway pyramid. They give 15%. But service not good. Haha. Will try Subang parade before bungkus 😂

Bought a black aquaracer with diamonds for my wife, a week before MCO..haha! Maybe you got a shitty salesman, I managed to get 20% as they were the only ones that had the model I wanted. But do try the s.parade branch. Squeeze them a bit harder...

Hi all, apparently swiss watch gallery from pavilion offer 15% discount only for tag heuer watch. Wata from pavilion also offer 15% to 17% only. Wondering when the ADs are going to have higher sales again. Like 25%?

Wow.. are you their regular customer? Haha

And just wondering do such discount apply to special edition model? For example like the new Carrera x Porsche Special Edition. As far as I know, I only manage to see that model at the boutique. Didnt manage to see one at the ADs yet.

New models or special editions that just came in, no discounts at Boutiques until they start distribution to ADs in 6 months.

Deciding if I should get this as its an in-house movement. Previous calibres are sourced from all over but overcharged by Tag. I mainly buy F1 quartzes like this newest below:

Should wait for the discounts if you are not in a hurry to buy one. Because when you resell later, you will take less of a depreciation hit than if you buy without discounts now.

Also, I don’t place much importance on in-house anymore unless they do something different from the widely available valjoux 7750 chronograph movement.

Don’t bother with Rolex. The ship has sailed 5 years ago.

I just saw Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time in white and black at an AD if you are interested.

I believe that trinity prices are very fair, especially VC.

The entry level VC FiftySix is only RM48k on strap. I have just enquired about it today.

The thing I like about the Heuer 02 in-house movement is their 80 hrs power reserve. Not too sure about the accuracy though. Although I heard from some reviews that the rotor movement of the Heuer 02 is rather noisy hence make me a little bit hesitate. And even though i kinda like the asphalt dial design on the Porsche, I find it a little bit too coarse when I saw the watch at the boutique. But still, this is subjective to personal taste.

Just curious which model you are waiting from Rolex AD? Submariner? I heard the waiting list for their ss model are crazy.

I'm waiting for the steel Sky Dweller and Green Sub. Good chance this year as I have a track record with them...ha!ha! Not betting money on that but if got, good, if not it's ok. I'm also looking at PP and AP as well and one of our brothers here have asked me to look at VC which I never considered b4 as feel too Atas like GG, RM, UN..

The Porsche Carrera looks cool but its a bit thick, even thicker than my Tudor steel GMT. I'm weighing my options as there is a Asia LE Grand Seiko fighting to be purchased as well.. icon_idea.gif

How about you? Collecting other brands?

Well, not really. Actually I am not a watch collector myself and I am still pretty new in this watch hobby thing. For now, I am considering getting a good chronograph leather watch that I could wear casually, and Carrera comes to my mind. Haha. I have a pretty big wrist size so watch from 42 to 45 mm could fit my wrist perfectly.

As for other brands, I am kinda interested in Rolex GMT Master 2 Batman and PP Nautilus series as I prefer sporty looking watches. But too bad my current budget not allow.😅

Anyway, the green sub you are waiting for is the Hulk or the new submariner?

Not sure if you guys are aware or not but I will just do a PSA here.

Tag Heuer service center now allows pickup and drop off for servicing via their boutiques. The servicing price is the same as going to their service center near Hotel Istana.

Thought that you guys might sometimes want to save the hassle of sending it to the service center during office hours and just drop off or pickup at their Tag Heuer boutiques on weekends.

GS is not worth it anymore bro. The prices are too high for what you are getting. Avoid GS and especially their money pit Limited Editions.

Don’t listen to the hype. Grand Seiko is now overpriced and so are their Prospex, Seiko 5 and other lines.

Seiko 5 used to be a sub RM500 watch but now their new entries are above RM1000.

Just stick with Swiss watches for now unless you want to be stuck with the penthouse view once the hype train dies off.

Parking usually a bitch before Pavi came up, gave up last year when the MCO came and they only gave their opening hours on a piece of paper stuck to their office. Pissed me and a few customers off including 2 delivery guys.

Thanks for the info.

Chrono watches are pretty sporty and if you like them go for it because at the end of the day, you are the one who is wearing the watch and should enjoy it.

Btw, do you guys know of any FB groups in particular that I could advertise my TAG Heuer for sale. ? Listed it on MWF and haven't received a decent offer yet. Thanks

Yup. Entry level is FiftySix which is RM48k on strap.

VC has the lowest barrier to entry at 48k followed by PP at RM77,700 for the Aquanaut 5167. AP is the highest at RM83k for 15450.

I see. Thanks. I thought it was the actually available in store price. RRP is just a pipe dream.

Personally I’ve given up on watches after most of it isn’t available from AD and boutiques but you can walk in grey dealers and they are more well stocked than boutiques lol.

I feel buying grey you get the watch but you don’t get the experience.

Not necessary.

I purchased all my watches at retail. You just need to show that you are serious buyer and not a flipper. I managed to score my AP ROO Diver just end of last year even though it is a wait list item. Previously I was offered Daytona and Submariner at boutiques.

Did you buy many watches from said boutique? I probably look at buying a serious watch every 10 years or so. My first being a Tag. A pretty run of the mill CV2010, but I love the face of the watch, and it’s association with cars and F1.

I don’t see how one can buy so many watches from a boutique unless you’re (a) rich or (b) hobbyist/flipper.

Cool for you. I do want to experience the no date Sub C, alas no such opportunity and I’m inclined to buying at the boutique for the experience.

The 5167A piqued my interest, because of the Arabic numerals, and at that RRP, I would seriously want to put it on my wrist and see if it speaks to me, and if yes, buy it and cut that strap to fit my wrist cause I buy my watches to wear.

Nautilus does nothing for me, as I prefer the 15400 over it, I think the RO is the more masculine and iconic design of Genta, although the 15400 is a derivative of his design and not true to his design. Which then the 5167A makes perfect sense for me in my imaginary collection alongside a 15400 with its Arabic dial and rubber strap, and a case inspired by the Nautilus. One with a stick dial, and another with Arabic. One on bracelet, one on rubber.

I purchased all my watches from different boutiques. Even my latest AP was purchased from AP House KL without any prior history due to the AD that used to carry AP no longer do so.

I think it will be a huge jump to go from a Tag to Patek Philippe as the servicing costs as much as a brand new Tag at around RM4k-20k on average depending on the amount of parts that needs replacing. Case polishing is not included in the price and is billed separately (around RM1k-2k) for trinity brands. Rubber strap is replaced at every service it’s another RM1k-2k or so in addition to the above. You are looking at RM5k-6k if it involved only simple oiling with a replacement bracelet and light polishing.

If you are comfortable paying that amount every 2-4 years for servicing, then you are ready to take the leap to trinity watches. For me, it took me a decade or so from cheaper watches and slowly working my way up before I become comfortable with buying an AP.

I went from Seiko to Tag, and was approx a 16x jump in price for me. Doing another 16x jump now...is very expensive lol. But I figured we have to live a little.

Talking about service, time I sent my Tag in... let me do that tomorrow. Thanks to your PSA as well, let me repost that for the benefit of other people.

QUOTE(friedricetheman @ Feb 26 2021, 03:37 PM)
Not sure if you guys are aware or not but I will just do a PSA here.

Tag Heuer service center now allows pickup and drop off for servicing via their boutiques. The servicing price is the same as going to their service center near Hotel Istana.

Thought that you guys might sometimes want to save the hassle of sending it to the service center during office hours and just drop off or pickup at their Tag Heuer boutiques on weekends.
*
EDIT: Funny that in-house movement costs more to service. I never fancy the b*stard love child with Seiko anyway. I think Calibre 16/7550 is more Swiss than that Tag "in-house" movement considering its Japanese roots.

Hi I was given a Tag Heuer Formula 1 43 mm by my brother's widow. Unfortunately my wrist is a little larger than his, so I am not able to wear it in his memory. I have looked into the box, and his things, but am unable to find the extra links.

Just wondering if anyone would like to sell me an extra link or advise where I can buy one link?

Thanks so much. I do realise that it is an odd request, but I would like to honor his memory as he passed on too soon, thanks.

Sorry for your loss. I think you can try walking into a Tag boutique and ask. So far my personal experience when dealing with them have been very friendly (relative to other brands).

You might want to check out the boutique or SC to see if it's doable.

Else, swap the bracelet out for a different strap would work as well.

Just bring it too a watch shop that repairs em.

If you feel like you can do it on your own, just use a long nose pliers to grip the end and unscrew from there

Better send to service center, you might damage the crown if not done properly.

Don’t have to insist, that’s included as part of the service as they give 6 months warranty

Just a weird question: Do you guys think this will blend in a formal event like a dress watch?

Many thanks for sifu advice

Boutique usually 0-5% discount
AD usually 15% discount (used to be 25% but I heard now no more such discounting level)

No difference in terms of the warranty.

I ordered from TH online at a retail price but found out AD/ Watatime gives 10% discount.
However ONLINE gives a nice case extra nice carrying case. I wonder if should i cancel online and purchase from AD instead, since less by RM600.
Is there any different between ONLINE, AD and TH Retail shops?

Hi Bosses:

Some recent update for servicing. Just sent my watches for service. Now in Malaysia, service drop off is any Tag Heuer showroom only. The repair centre in KL does not allow walk-in anymore. Attaching for you the pricing, scope of work and parts involved.

https://www.tagheuer.com/my/en/service/our-services.html - select Malaysia.

Servicing journey:
Drop off at boutique - inspection and online registration - wait for diagnosis report and recommended quotation via email - pay online - work completed - pick up from same boutique.

PS.- generally missing parts are available and recommended for replacement as part of the diagnosis service. Like I'm missing a rubber link for my strap - they will help.

Total time - 2-3weeks.

I have CAF2011 (2005) & WAH1110 (2013) - used frequently

My service routine: Minor service every 3-5 years for quartz and just send for 2nd service for chrono. Always at Tag official with receipts.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

Tag Heuer AD means they are displayed in distributor companies such as Swiss watch gallery, AWG, watatime, etc. the watch is already "sold" to the AD.

If boutique its the one in pavilion, you're buying directly from the brand. usually they bring in boutique exclusive stuff, however rarely on discount. AD usually gives more discount.

The last I checked, not really.

UK no longer has VAT refund as well.

And with all the currency exchange rate + fees they might charge, it's easier to just buy it here.

But buying it in Paris or UK could be a special memory for you perhaps.

i bought my nomos there... seems ok. this is how it works...if you can accept it.

1. you place order. when the watch arrives, whether you want the watch or not, you will need to pay for the duty
2. the price there is only indicative. in the event that the custom duty is higher, you will need to pay for the difference
3. watch will arrives in about a week. sales man call you to meet up. then COD. you bank transfer the money, he pass you the watch.

in my case it was pretty smooth. i actually wanted to look at few options but end up ordering the what i really wanted. because i don't want to pay the taxes just to look at the watch.

How much will they charge, it’s seem like they didn’t disclose the price on their site. Tag Heuer Botique charge rm1500 for full service.

i bought my nomos there... seems ok. this is how it works...if you can accept it.

1. you place order. when the watch arrives, whether you want the watch or not, you will need to pay for the duty
2. the price there is only indicative. in the event that the custom duty is higher, you will need to pay for the difference
3. watch will arrives in about a week. sales man call you to meet up. then COD. you bank transfer the money, he pass you the watch.
in my case it was pretty smooth. i actually wanted to look at few options but end up ordering the what i really wanted. because i don't want to pay the taxes just to look at the watch.

For sale. Please offer a reasonable price for this mint example. Not a scratch as far as I know.

Hey sifus, can any tell if this seller is legit?

Check out TheRgallery_official listings on #Carousell: https://carousell.app.link/ULMt2BwUFGb

It’s seem too cheap for an authentic watch and too expensive for a counterfeit.

I would not recommend. It is better to get from official reseller or AD.. or at least from some reputable persons

Just send it to any Tag Heuer boutique and get a quote. It’s FOC. You can decide to proceed or not after that.

I didn’t bother, just service outside since Tag Heuer Calibre 16 is just a Valjoux 7750. Super common movement and any competent specialist can handle it.

My watch is 12+ years old. Sent for service and came back spot on. Was running slow before that.

But I have to say my experience in the boutique is always very good. Removed links with a smile. And happy to show me timepieces when I was waiting.

Compared to back when I bought my Brad Pitt’s Carrera I think the brand has improved a lot. Hope they continue improving.

Anyone got any recommended place to send a Calibre 5 for servicing?

Got this Carrera as a hand me down and I was a smartwatch guy all the way. The watch is running too quick, by about a minute or so per week. But usually it dies over 1 day without wearing it, especially during the weekends where I mainly wear my smart watch for sport activities.

Mind sharing how much this service cost you? Is it a full or partial service? Pretty new to this.

It's been awhile since I've bought another watch, and also my first TAG that I've bought myself. My other TAGs has always been a gift.
I couldn't resist the Formula 1 as it reminded me of the 80s/90s when I remember seeing them everywhere and have always wanted one. More so now with this 'Silverstone GP' edition and having ran the half marathon on the same track last year, which I may do so again this year. The other colours are also tempting, may even get the red and green one which I think it's unpopular but still quite a fun watch.
Also 38mm is perfectly sized!
