QUOTE
Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition simultaneously ascends the throne as a new performance king and extends Titan X-class performance to gamers for $500 less. There is a lot to like if you want to enjoy your favorite games on a 4K monitor, with a fast-refresh QHD display, or in virtual reality. Although some of Nvidia’s board partners will offer 1080 Tis with bigger coolers and less noise, its Founders Edition card remains a favorite for its ability to exhaust waste heat. -TomsHardware

An absolute beast.

so.. 1080ti consider sweet spot for 60fps @ 4k?

or not yet?  hmm.gif
*
Closer than ever. If OC I think can achieve it.

Crysis 3, Far Cry Primal, ACU, The Division still can't quite hit 4k60fps, but majority can.

If being slightly conservative on the settings, say AA, then you'll get to 60fps.

user posted image

Having said that, Volta flagship, either the GTX 1180 or GTX 2080 - knowing the gap between each architecture, will pretty much guarantee 4k60fps in all AAA titles.

...

GTX 1080 Ti - RM3,899
GTX 1080 - RM2,800

Almost RM1,100 for ~ 10-15% in-game performance difference worth it? hmm.gif

Isn't the different is between 15% - 35%? 23% more price would be around RM3449, which isn't very far from the performance gained.
*
I have yet to see any true 35% gain. Price tag ~ last I heard was RM3,899. Very early days, I would say the price hasn't stabilized yet due to local availability.

Nvidia's board partners should see the price lower than the Founder's Edition.

For me, either GTX 1070 or Volta next year laugh.gif

How you calculate 10-15%?
The Division
52.3 / 40.3 = 1.297x faster = 29.7% faster

The Witcher 3
64.1 / 47.6 = 1.346x faster = 34.6% faster

The price
RM 3899 / RM 2800 = 1.393x = 39% more expensive, almost same as the claimed 35% performance.

Ego: priceless
*
Ok my bad, I was looking at the 'Titan X Pascal' column.

In that case, yes, almost as the claimed 35% increase in performance.

Only disrespectful fools like you would call people out laugh.gif

There are no dual-prices for the 1080Ti unlike the 1080. It's just one single MSRP - $699. If anything, the after-market cards will be more expensive than the Founder's Edition.

I see... good to know that, we won't be seeing custom cards for at least a few weeks right hmm.gif

Can't wait to see how far the custom cards can be pushed.

Garage sales galore over the past week and continues on...

So far I've seen offer price, still haven't nego:
Cheapest GTX 1070 - RM1,700
Cheapest GTX 1080 - RM2,400

Wonder if after custom cards released, the urge to sell and upgrade to Ti even stronker... flex.gif

Nvidia Makes GeForce GameWorks Effects Open Source, can now be Optimised for AMD Radeon

user posted image

QUOTE
Buried away in Nvidia’s presence at GDC a week or two ago was the news that Nvidia is moving all of its Nvidia GameWorks software library to open source. This means any graphics card supplier can take advantage of the likes of Turf Effects, HBAO+, Volumetric Lighting and PhysX within any DirectX 12, including AMD Radeon and Intel integrated graphics.

“The source code is mostly posted on GitHub,” said Nvidia’s Tom Petersen. “So if you want to go and download it and look at it, you can.” As for why it’s ‘most’ and not ‘all’, Petersen explains “some of it’s not time. We’re still working through things but things like Flex, Flow, Hair, there’s things up there. But it’s still up to each GPU vendor to optimize for their GPU.”

Previously, all GameWorks features were designed with CUDA cores in mind and were incompatible with AMD graphics cards. The code was also hidden, prompting concern among both gamers and AMD themselves that Nvidia was partnering with devs for GeForce optimisation at the expense of Radeon performance. Petersen claims this new initiative is designed to drive wider adoption of new graphics rendering technique. This will make games look better, which in turn encourages the end-user to buy more games and graphics hardware.

Nvidia - - has a change of heart already. From price cut of the 1080, to decently priced 1080 Ti to this... thumbup.gif

This new card is unique in many aspects. Starting with the new cooler design “Shark Bionics”, which features three 92mm fans. Then we can see that the whole card is glowing with red light, which means that it’s equipped with LEDs all around the shroud. But when it comes to real game-changing features that competition does not have, then we must not forget about the LCD mounted on the side, which displays information like current clock speed, GPU usage, temperature level or the status of the fans.

We were also given a new picture of the PCB, which has one the most advanced phase design from all 1080 Ti. This card has 16+2 phases, and it seems that we won’t see many cards with such design till higher binned models arrive. Currently the only card known to feature 16+2 phase design is ZOTAC’s EXTREME.
Start of a new trend? Down the line this trend picks-up and the LCD packs more info? Who knows... tongue.gif

Whoa... big bump in price for perhaps a few FPS difference biggrin.gif

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-108...-model-roundup/

RM3,699 for Founders eh... hmm

Waiting for 1070 to drop further, yes I'm el cheapo...
Else Volta, but that's like 2018...
At the same time 1080p is sufficient for me...
Monitor also need to upgrade..

The most sensible upgrade for me would be monitor (2k/4k) + GPU

Is it not recommended to get a i5 (maybe 7500) with a gtx1070? read somewhere on this thread about cpu bottleneck

1080p for now

Kaby Lake i5, I would say no, furthermore with a GTX 1070. I'm pushing an ageing i7-870 with a 970. tongue.gif

hi all do u guys knew the price for asus strix 1080ti???

and i use i7 4790k, bottleneck or not with 1080ti???

somesay not bottleneck...
*

Vid is with 980 Ti. Compare the 4790 with 6700, with a 1080 Ti I still think will not bottleneck.

Founders already RM3,600~ (for a $699 card is 'locally' $819, a 14.65% increment in price)
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=4034961

So for Asus Strix 1080 Ti OC ($750 / non-OCD $720)
'locally' = $860 / $825 = RM3,801 / RM3,646 estimation, add here and there should be almost RM4k for OC tongue.gif

ASUS Unleashes High-Performance ROG Poseidon GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid Cooled Graphics Card – Custom PCB Design and DirectCU H2O Cooling

QUOTE
Just like the previous ROG Poseidon offerings, the Poseidon GTX 1080 Ti features a hybrid cooling system that allows the card to use either air or liquid cooling to its advantage. The product is a massive 2.5 slot card that uses a very aggressive shroud design, integrated with dual Wing-Blade IP5X Certified fans that deliver maximum airflow and offer dust resistance too.

The PCB is cooled by the next-generation DirectCU H2O cooling technology which comes with a massive baseplate designed to offer 40% more heat dissipation area and 20% increase of water flow rate from the water channels integrated within it. The heatpipes extend from the GPU to the VRMs, VRAM and PLL area. The waterblock uses standard G 1/4-inch terminal block and would be compatible with most liquid cooled systems. The hybrid cooler is said to offer under 50C load temps with liquid cooling and under 70C temps with air cooling.

On the back, we are looking at a custom designed backplate that makes use of RGB lighting that comes with ASUS’s AURA Sync technology. There’s also a custom LED panel on the side of the card that emits RGB light and looks really cool.

The card will be powered by a 8+6 Pin connector configuration and clocks speeds will be revealed later on when the card goes in production. The card also uses a custom PCB as is seen in the images. Enthusiasts can expect some decent OC capabilities.

By launching sooner than expected they will be able to increase prices of single cards and increase profits

Great... I expect... the 'GTX 2070 with 11GB of GDDR5X @ 12Gbps' = the sweet one price/performance wise, but maybe not the initial release period tongue.gif

Maybe it's a good idea for those still in the waiting game to skip a generation (Maxwell -> Volta)

I don't think the GTX 2070 will come with 11GB memory clocked at 12Gbps though, since the GTX 2070 would probably perform around the GTX 1080 or a little better due to process shrink.
*
Probably, I base it on GTX 1070 vs. GTX 980 performance difference tongue.gif

In any case, this is how things are (if value conscious... Titans excluded):

Haha, that's only possible with a die shrink that shrunk it to almost half the size ler.

The GTX 970 in Malaysia is still priced quite high, so I think the best would be the 4GB RX 470 over here, followed closely by GTX 1060 3GB.
*
I see... haha ok.

For me, a worthy/sensible upgrade would be a resolution jump, monitor + GPU (1080 -> 1440p) and yes you're right, the prices still not that good here but the fps/$ can serve as a gauge of where they should be. Used GPUs (GTX 1070/1080) in Garage sales not bad, been eyeing for sometime now but... still not where I want them to be. tongue.gif
