I feel you bro, I had Air 240, was forced to change back tower casing ( Air 240 was quite new still ) when I change to Palit Gamerock card. I measured all and it should fit, but didnt realize the metal hinge part blocking the card from putting in

Yeah man. The height for gpu is too short. Nowadays gpu custom pcb + cooler giler big.
Phew, i almost go for Gamerock but heck, I'm just going to wc anyway, get FE and save the measurement headache.
+ blower cooler is good for small case.

If you want some OC headroom, can always slap on an Arctic ACX3 a year down the road.

Just gonna to slap a WB and do a moderate oc to maintain lower temp. A stock clock 1080ti is overkill for 1440p 72hz anyway.
But gonna run in stock 1st by using tube to temp. reroute my wc to cool cpu only. The barrow WB from tabao will gonna take 1-2 weeks delivery time.

Nah... it's never overkill with 1440p. Take a look at those new AAA games now. Ultra settings demands "at least" 1080ti.

Did that on an msi 1080 armor flashed with gaming x bios. Accelero xtreme iv. Pretty awesome. Heaven runs at around 60c and clocks drop to 2088/5489.

Dishonored 2 temps don't go above 55c and clocks stay at 2101/5489. This is without air-conditioning.

Notebookcheck did a review on GT1030, and it's not bad actually, for a replacement GPU that have the same number of cores as it's predecessor. Performance wise, is a little better than the RX 550 or around the performance of GTX 750 (non-Ti). Definitely worthy upgrade for those who are using GTX 400 / HD 5000 series card or below.
