Hi everyone, been lurking here a while now... and I must say there has been some rather interesting conversation. Banyak strategies here and there ni. Nice to meet you all!

Anyhow, I've actually ordered a white Elantra Sport earlier this month and am hoping to collect it by the end of this month. Also, I'm probably the first person in the country to pay RM800+ for the black leather seats.

To each his own, really. The pickup is not amazing since it still weighs 1400kg, but it builds up speed effortlessly due to the turbo. There's of course good potential for more power if you decide to mod it down the road. Based on my experience, the Sport mode only makes the shifts more crisps, hold the gears at higher RPMs, slightly increased throttle response (could be just me), and heavier steering. Standard stuff. It also uses a smaller turbo, so not much lag and not much turbo spool 'shove'.

I've also test driven the Mazda 3 and most of what you say is right. It's got a better interior and is cheaper, the gearbox is pretty good, but I was left a bit cold during the test drive. It handled well, but not as good as the Elantra to me, and I'm pretty sure the Elantra is generally faster. Of course, I've not tried the newer one with the G-vectoring so I can't say how much it has improved. The Mazda 3 would have got my money if it had a perkier engine.

Brand/make aside, 200hp and a DCT at RM135k is a pretty good deal to me. And I really liked how the car rode and handled. It's just a more fun car compared to the Civic or Mazda which I tried. It ticked all the right boxes for me. Some people are gonna bash the RV, Korean reputation or whatnot. But at the end of the day, buy whichever makes you happy, no?

Yes. It can be done. I asked the sales manager about this (most of them agreed it was fugly) when I was placing an order, and that was what the management came up with. I wished it was a no-cost option but heck I'd gladly pay that amount for a much more tasteful interior.

RM 800 + 6% GST gets you:

- Black nappa leather (replaces the red leather)
- Red cross-stitching
- 'Sport' logo in red.
- Door cards in black nappa leather (replacing the red leather)

Bad news, fellas:

My SA has told me that my unit would be the last (and probably first) unit to have the black leather interior.

No more leather change requests will be taken. Not sure if that's temporary or indefinitely. I suspect it could have delayed the assembly process or someone at the top got offended by the criticism. My goodness... they just shot themselves in the leg.
