Hi all, happy new year!

I am newbie in ASx, just started to study about it since yesterday - one of my to-do things for 2018! I know I have been very late to invest in ASx, well, it is better than to be late than never, isn't it?

I made calls to ASNB offices this morning to enquire about opening ASW / ASM / AS1M account (yes, I dont have an account sad.gif), I was told that I need to go to ASNB office physically to queue to wait for available units. I understand that it is extremely difficult to get available units and what I can do is only to try my luck to go there, to wait and pray. I have tried to ask before in those agents (bank branches), the answer is the same.

May I know is going to ASNB offices to sit and wait the only option to open an account? icon_question.gif Is there anything else I can do?

Okay thanks, seems like I have a long way to go to start buying ASx for myself...

The other quicker way is to buy for the new born? That was informed by the ASBN SC, how does it work?

any preference in funds when you guys invest? historically dividend for AS1M is slightly lower (0.2%) than ASM and ASW2020, although last year was the same. It seems not easy to get ASM and ASW2020 units, is AS1M your last option?

Just keep trying for units. Prefer ASM and ASW for a spread out dividend across the year. Since AS1M and ASW dividend payout is 1 month different, I always try ASW first

Like you said historically ASW has higher dividend and also the preferred fund since it has proven record of surviving the 97/98 crisis

I dont have ASM account yet as there is no available unit when I opened at the counter, have been trying to buy ASW but no luck so far

Just started to invest in ASNB through myasnb, trying to accumulate the units in ASW, ASM and AS1M smile.gif a few questions hope you guys can help

1) I read through the posts and it's commented that ASW>ASM>AS1M, is it due to the historical dividend distribution? Or is it because of the fund manager? maybe @nexona88 boss can help? smile.gif

2) Is anything going to happen to ASW2020 by year 2020 or continue as usual (just the name bearing 2020)?

3) I only buying the fixed price fund, do you guys investing in the varied price fund?

4) I read that most of you guys think that ASNB is risk free, is it covered by PIDM? Or because it is under PNB which is under the government? The risk of these funds going to burst is zero? smile.gif What if there is a change in the current government?

5) The only risk maybe is the dividend lower than FD in the future, which is very highly unlikely right?

don't think it would happen.. Even with previous financial crisis, the fund dividend rate didn't go below FD rate too

Thanks for the reply, can go all in for top up already smile.gif

ASM - 1 April (2 April open)

ASW - 1 September (3 September open)

AS1M - 1 October

guys how is the dividend being calculated, is it on monthly basis?

Take ASW as example, the dividend distribution on 1 September and let's assume the account is newly open in Feb with the following deposit & withdrawal:

1) balance end of feb : RM0
2) balance end of Mar : RM1000
3) balance end of April : RM2000 (top up RM1000)
4) balance end of May : RM2000
5) balance end of June : RM1000 (withdraw RM1000)
6) balance end of July : RM1000
7) balance end of Aug : RM2000 (top up RM1000)

so although RM1000 is withdrawn in June, but the dividend for Apr & May is still counted?

My guess is the fund already full..
Waiting for SC approvals to increase fund size for reinvestment whistling.gif

Remembered, ASB 2 also faced the issues previously.. But after Dividend okay already..  So we just needed to wait longer.. After May onwards maybe hmm.gif
*
But there must be somebody selling right? If the fund is full, those units should be still available to be bought although there is no new units issued, no? Maybe it is not as simple as I thought blush.gif

Bro...for Indian, first 30k for AS1M available anytime with fund size 1.5 billion (siapa cepat dia dapat)...just deposit upto 30k and enjoy 6% per year dividend (based on historical dividend performance)...

ASW ada quota and ASM no quota..but depending availability...you must rajin try online via MyASNB (www.myasnb.com.my)..many successfully got ASx unit over online..

Good luck
*
Does it mean that all races can invest in ASM without any quota for certain races? For ASW and AS1M there is quota / ceiling allocated based on races?

Wondering what are the chances of bumiputera investing in ASM/ASW/AS1M (after max out ASB/ASB2 which provide hihger dividend)
