FD at 6% afaik is usually special over the counter offer, and the banks usually don't add the interest to principle, so one needs to be aware and quickly renew it once it matures. Most of the time, I forgot to renew on time and the FD reverts to normal peanut-level interest.

QUOTE(cscheat @ Sep 25 2018, 01:27 PM) nobody will sell AS1M before 30th Sep There are always people selling at any given day, because there are always people needing the money. Actually, it does not make any difference which fund I sell if I need the money today. After all, I will still get interest for the other funds, just that it won't be shown in next month's statement.

QUOTE(veera77 @ Oct 8 2018, 11:22 PM) True!!!!...very less people fortune enough to enjoy their own EPF money...usually mostly goes to kids edu, mortgage etc.. Malaysian generally dont have retirement plan or mentality... .work work work till die...then all EPF goes family member (if u did proper nomination).. EPF is great tool for retirement plan...30% Act 2 ok lah boleh spend for ur commitment before 55...70% act 1 should enjoy during retirement age.. Not everyone can work till die. Most become jobless either due to no demand for their skill set or they are too sickly to be gainfully employed. And some cannot wait to retire at 55 to enjoy life.

QUOTE(honkkydorry @ Oct 15 2018, 02:12 PM) My bumi neighbor told me over the weekend that she received a sum of money (abt 10k) and in interested to save them all up. She was wondering if she should park all under her ASB (which is yet to max out but amount is quite close to max) or perhaps top up to her ASW instead. I told her to just go for ASB. She said she contemplated between the 2 cos she occasionally withdrew from her ASB but with ASW she made it a point to not withdraw and using that as her "hidden" backup savings account; hence thinking maybe best to put her 10k in ASW instead. She was also contemplating FD so as to not park all in one basket but I told her better to put in ASx over FD. What do you all think? ASB or ASW? Logically should be ASB since dividend is higher but given that she never disturbs her ASW, probably that might be a better option? Anyway her ASW balance, according to her is not a high sum as she is slowly building up that account. ASB2 is out of the question as it is being used by her sibling. I would put it in ASB for the higher interest. If I were disciplined enough not to touch the ASW knowing there is a tidy sum inside, I guess I would be disciplined enough not to touch too much of the funds in ASB.

Keyed in captcha a few times, got brought back to main login page. Locked out for 15 mins due to the earlier session not logged out. QUOTE(alexanderclz @ Oct 18 2018, 11:49 AM) maybe because soon astro can't monopolise satellite tv anymore. As more people get high speed broadband at home, I think Astro will be under more pressure.
