Many of my friends ask me about this.
Are you looking to be a part time uber or grab?
Which one will be the best for you. Can anyone give an opinion

It depends on what you want though
More money? Grab it is. More security? Uber it is. |

I'm a real time driver. This is base on experience.
Current situation: Grab - earns you more definitely. Uber - driving for charity. Here is an example: Mr Awesome is a fat boy. He wanted to go to 7-11 to buy maggie to eat. He order Uber, ask the driver to come pick him up at the condo, Block C. When the driver reach below, and call him, then only he get down. The 7-11 is actually only 200 meter away. Fare is RM1.20. He paid RM2 and tell the driver keep the change. He is happy. Mr Ahmad is the driver. When he received the ping, he was 5km away. He need to drive all the way and register to enter the condo and get RM2 (with tips some more) only in the end. And need to deduct 25% Uber fees. So you tell me. In your opinion, Mr Ahmad is actually earning or doing charity? |

Grab can choose your passenger. Which mean some passenger request (eg from LRT to home ~ 2km), you can either accept or reject.
Uber, only when you pickup your passenger, Uber will reveal passenger destination. Correct me if I'm wrong. Btw Uber driver told me that, short & mid range take uber, mid and long range take grab. |

Uber and Grab all sort of range. I'm also a rider. Short range I will use Grab. Because I do not want to 'cheat' the driver. only willing driver will accept. Long range I will use Uber because generally it is cheaper fare. |

Grabcar offer than Uber. Driver's will know this. If you registered both. Sometimes Grab no ping coming in, switch to Uber... |

Seems like Grab is winning alot of shares.
If Uber pulls off from Malaysia, thats it. Grab may cut incentives because no competitors driver dont have other platform to pick, may even raise fare price to passenger cause no competition. just my 2 cents This post has been edited by Red_rustyjelly: Aug 22 2017, 11:10 PM |

Grab's okay when you're not stuck in the jam but Uber takes 5% extra and charges by the time.

Grab is definitely better for part timer and also full timer.
Unless you are airport trip chaser, then you will probably need both Grab and Uber to sustain. If not just Grab is enough. |

I drive full time time both...seriously grab requests are way too low in sban n nilai...uber requests in these 2 areas is overwelming...
But uber trip fares are peanuts...you will not make reasonable profits unless u hit their incentives/quests/ph. Grab fares are reasonable n IF requests are plenty then you can make reasonable profit driving long term But in uber after you continuosly hit their all their quests they will reduce the quest amount or increase the trip requirement and it would become less attractive thereafter. So in summary these companies are out to only make the 20 to 25% from your trips and are not concerned with your well being , safety , retirement , family. The moment you quit or they ban you... they are not interested in you anymore as they keep recruiting new drivers on daily basis. There are plenty of test mules for them . So if you are having a full time job never quit it for driving this full time as you will regret later. You just cannot be very long in this unless you do part time. To save their face some drivers dont tell you what they feel deep in their hearts... Just my 2 cents n any1 is welcomed to disagree as this is entirely from my point of view |

QUOTE(patrick23 @ Nov 8 2017, 01:10 AM) this is true...once i had to wait 3 solid hours to get a trip...it would be pure luck if i can a trip within an hour of waiting...actually unlike uber ...grab does not practice queue system when it comes to trip allocation... for grab the nearest driver to the rider or the driver who is coming to drop off will get the ping.. in uber the driver who is coming to drop off or secondly the one who entered the area first or only lastly the nearest one will get the ping if the other 2 are not available or reject the ping so in uber it doesnt really matter where you are positioned while waiting...the rider can even stand next to you and request a ride but you may not get it in grab it all matters where you are positioned...the nearest to the ktm or the bus station or mall will first get the ping even if he just came to that place and there are 10 more drivers waiting 2 hours nearby there |

I just migrated to Grab after doing charity for Uber and totally disappointed on their system.
I cannot choose my rider and If I were not accept the Job, this will affect my AR. And in worst case, where I am the only Uber driver driving in one large area and have to travel to ~ 20 Minutes away location just to pickup one customer that is traveling for 1-2 KM. And the Uber incentive system is totally failed compared to Grab. Totally wasted on Petrol and somemore received some bad rating. |

QUOTE(mar72 @ Jan 3 2018, 01:19 PM) Great. I'm thinking to drive on weekends, can you make RM250 per day after deducting petrol and tolls? By forumers 1. Flexi tends to gross RM25 per hour on average. 2. HG players will gross RM35 p/hr average. Both you have to deduct 20%-25% commission to Grab & petrol/maintenance of 15%-20% too. By experience HG cost is lower as you tend not to drive as long to earn as much. Btw, toll paid by rider. To earn RM250 nett (RM400 gross) after all cost, you are looking to drive around 12 to 15 hrs. Thats not to say we cant do it in 10 hrs or... it may take some 20 hrs... with no breaks. QUOTE(Walking @ Jan 4 2018, 10:49 AM) hi all sifu is that Part-time grab driver have incentives ? Regardless part/full time you can opt for either options. 1. Hourly Guarantee (HG) has 'incentives' in the form of guarenteed income usualy on peak hours, ie complete number of trips hourly and get certain income guaranteed regardless of fare collected. Requirements are higher. 2. Flexi can also have adhoc incentives. Previously cashback on completing number of trips daily but... now none currently. Requirements are lower thus many on flexi will be choosy for big fares only. I suggest to both of you to read the main Grab to understand better, especially the pinned post in 1st page. Both these are the VVFAQ. |
