Interesting discussion, looks like my sister may have issue later. Gotta ask her to buy repeaters as I always hangout at her downstairs TV hall and her router will be placed at upstairs TV hall.

Her house is not as huge as you guys punya, 4000 sqf only. Hopefully when I come back from India next time her UniFi is already installed and I can happily use my Android box. biggrin.gif

Why not just use the Google Mesh Network Routers?

Looks good. Anyone here tried it yet? The router part doesn't support vlan so will need additional equipment. How about Eero or Orbi? Are they 802.11r/k/v? Or a "virtual BSSID" like Ubnt's zero-handoff? Or both?

Mikrotik has wireless mesh networks too but for different purposes.

I did the below in my house with Mikrotik routers but the other way round, BTU & router on 1st F and AP on GFloor. The last part, AP to STB, you want wifi or cable? Below is cable:

BTU ==> Router/AP ==cable==> Wifi AP ==cable==> HyppTV box

I use Mikrotik but any router that can do vlans also can do the same thing.

Did you really expect a RM360 device to outperform a RM800 device? If you care to apply any common sense, you wouldn't be asking this question.

And if you say you are totally blur, the Mikrotik routers may not be for you. The user interface is not as friendly as the Asus, TPLink or other consumer type routers, not so easy to understand or to set up.

I had a RB951G-2HnD, sold it and bought an Asus 68AC. Very happy with it. Although it's pretty expensive now...

if u guys don't want to invest in routers....try wifi repeater with AC connection....I use TPLINK Archer C7(router) + TPLINK AV 500 ( powerline + repeater) for my second hypptv decoder+ WIFI extender WA860 300Mbps (upstair) + TPLINK AC1750 Wifi Range Extender (extend the 5Ghz connection only for smart Tv streaming). my house and outside my house got full coverage. I use plus minus RM900 for those devices.

Anyone here already get their Unifi free speed upgrade? I have something suspicious about the TM billing. I was just get my free speed upgrade at 2 days ago. Now my speed is already 50mbps. However, I am now suspected that TM may increase my billing charges to RM249. I was previously paying RM179 per month.

Upon I login to my Unifi portal, my billing credit limit was increased to RM927. My current plan was changed to UniFi Advance Plus 50Mbps (Thank You Campaign 2017), previously is UniFi Advance 30Mbps (Early bird promotion). When click into modify bundle, my payment was increased to RM249, previously is RM179 with RM20 discount monthly. I am now unsure my next month charges is RM179/mth or RM249/mth.

I was felt being cheated and submitted complaint to MCMC. Now I have to wait for their investigation.

Just wait, after speed increase bill will be higher for first time, then second month and the rest will back to normal. Its like pro-rated month.
