No i dont think this car will come .... It will probably replace the old X gear but i doubt that. Tan choong never like crossovers in malaysia like ever... Do you ever see a x gear on the road ?

And the price will definitely not below HRV unless they deduct the goodies otherwise . You can dream about it

Seems like Indonesia will get it first, as always....

Based on the report it'll be built in Indonesia with the 1.5L engine with 124hp

Hope the price will be around BRV price bracket

Never is more likely, look at the Nissan Note! Who knows if sales of note in Thailand is good, we might be lucky in 2018

Nissan EV/BEV tech are quite mature. Just look at Nissan Leaf, they already sold the EV ride since 2010 but people still skeptical of it.
Their e-Power concept is good, the engine is there to help generate power for the EV and a lot of reviews feedback it can go around 1000km per full tank.

On Nissan Malaysia's website, it's coming on December 2024 which is consistent with the information my sales advisor gave me earlier several months ago.

I would have expected the price to be above RM100k since the spec is more advanced than the current high spec Almera 1.0 Turbo (RM95k+/-). The Kicks has a 1.2 turbo engine and an electric motor fitted as well with newer technology than the Almera, so it's comprehensible it will be more expensive. Also, I was made to understand that the Kicks is CBU from Thailand and not CKD at this point, so that may further add to the higher cost. I'm not sure if there are plans to CKD the Kicks later. CBU from Thailand is considered to be better quality than CKD from local factory here in Malaysia at the expense of higher price.

There are few aspects of the Nissan Kicks that appeal to me, apart from my slightly biased preference toward Nissan having owned the Sylphy 2.0 back in the day. It's a quiet and comfort drive with Nisssan Sylphy and Teana when the vehicles were sold more than a decade ago. The NVH is excellent even from the mid-range Sylphy costing RM100k-110k+ back in the day. Although the current Almera's NVH is respectable, it still cannot match the NVH of the Sylphy.

Back to the Nissan Kicks. In the video by Wapcar above, I noticed the official 0-100km/h is listed at 9.5s while official figures from Thailand is 8.8s. A slight discrepancy there although another guy from Philippines mentioned someone tested and got about 7.5s. Anyway, looking at the numbers, it's a relatively powerful car for everyday driving. Another feature that is interesting is the e-pedal. When activated, it will be useful during traffic crawls as you don't need to step on the brakes as the car will automatically brake for you if you lift your foot off the accelerator pedal. If you completely lift your foot off the pedal, the car will completely stop.

If the NVH in terms of engine, wind and road noise is superior to the current Almera or perhaps match or even surpass the old Sylphy and Teana, it would be quite appealing. Just hope they don't price the Kicks too high and out of the competition. Personally I would pick this over most Chinese petrol or hybrid such as MG5 etc. even though the price may be higher. The quality and assurance are there.
