As CNY 2017 is approaching, any banks ATM now dispense new note in 10 20 denomination? Last year maybank have special atm to cater for this withdrawal so no need to change over the counters. This year still have ?

I will be brutally honest to say that exchanging for new notes is a BIG WASTE of the country's time and resources, cause now in modern times like me that if I receive angpao's then I will just deposit the money before the day ends.

I don't understand why this is still an ongoing trend.

BNM just use this event to recycle old and worn out notes...

I accept your statement, but I feel that Bank Negara does not use the time of Chinese New Year to change old notes for new ones cause the supply of bank notes is on demand and can be released at anytime of the year.

I think people still prefer getting physical ang pow, except for those who are overseas with job/studies and unable to back for the festive.

I have changed a lot of new notes two years ago from bank counter and still can use for angpao purpose for few more years. Lazy to go change yearly so done it in one time
Also keep some cash note with running serial number to my grandchildren in the future.
the good news is this year no need to give a lot angpao haha

Move to e-ang pow is the trend now.

Waiting fro maybank to update. Used to went to the one harimau just right down below my office to change.

Specific branch may have its own notes changing policy too.
Maybe just go down and check with the respective branch.
